After much hesitation, Saint Lucia has joined Grenada, Dominica, Antigua & Barbuda and St. Kitts & Nevis in signing the joint memorandum to realign the local Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP).
If you have already decided to acquire a Caribbean second passport, then you may still have the opportunity to acquire St Lucia's passport on the old terms (depending on when you watch this video...). A second citizenship is the optimal insurance policy against taxation by citizenship, conscription, wealth tax and pandemic lockdowns.
Under pressure from the EU, all 5 small Caribbean states have now vowed to combat the abuse of CIPs by criminals and other undesirables (e.g. Russians, Iranians...), which has been sharply criticized by the EU Commission. This is essentially to be achieved by tightening up due diligence on passport applications - and by sharply increasing, i.e. doubling, the fee for a second passport.
The EU openly threatened to stop visa-free access to the Schengen area for citizens of the 5 states - one of the main benefits of Caribbean passports.
St Lucia, where the passport for an adult currently costs $100,000 (couple: $140,000, couple and two children: $150,000), has not yet decided when it will introduce the changes. The other four countries will increase rates on 01.07.2024. Although it seems unlikely that St Lucia will rush to join this schedule now, anything is possible.

= About Perspektive Ausland (perspective abroad) =
Anyone who wants to move as an entrepreneur or freelancer from German-speaking countries to (tax-efficient) foreign countries or become a digital nomad has a lot of tax and legal questions.
Country selection, international tax law, setting up a company abroad, exit tax, visas, capital investments and asset protection - these are just some of the topics that you now have to deal with.
Perspektive Ausland (perspective abroad) is a German podcast from London that deals with exactly such questions. No matter what your motivation for moving abroad is - less taxes, more freedom or a higher quality of life - you've come to the right place.

By the way, gibt es euer Büro auf Malta noch?
      Danke und Grüße
