thank you for this! i am moving into a new place that comes with a washer n dryer. and paranoid about the previous tenants. lol using these will help set my mind at ease!
Don't forget to clean that gasket in the front load washer! That's where all the junk build up is and where the smell starts. The drum looks clean because it's the easiest to access but the gasket is where everything hides.
@@SkyManagement I know I'm commenting a lot (super enjoyed this video) and am likely not saying anything you don't know, but leaving the door of your washers, esp your front loaders, open between loads really helps ventilate the drum and prevent mildew. Well, mostly. Other factors obviously apply.
My front load washer has a cleaning cycle. The selector dial actually says "Clean washer with Afresh ". The cleaning cycle works great, much more water then a regular wash cycle. Makes foam up to the top of the glass.
If you live in an area with really hard water (lots of dissolved minerals in it, you can get hard water test strips from a hardware store or Amazon), then after you run the Afresh cycle, use a microfiber cloth to buff away the hard water build up. I'll spray mine with vinegar, too, and let it sit, then run again with another Afresh tablet. I hate doing two cycles as those tablets cost money, but once your drum doesn't have the mineral build up anymore, using these tablets helps.
Being an older machine means it was probably built better than these pieces of crap today. No residue means it probably doesn’t have any built up behind the drum.
officially... you will not be able to "prove" it is clean without taking the entire machine apart. Bottom line is that the majority of soap scum, mold, mildew, calcification, lime buildup etc... will be removed with proper cleaning. Most people have hard water (meaning high in minerals) that help some of these items get a foothold behind the drum. You can run bleach and white vinegar through on a sanitary cycle and likely get similar results. This product just makes it easier.
You can still use it but it may not dissolve the tablet completely. If you have no hot water place a tab in the washer and use a cup of vinegar in the cycle. This may aid in breaking up the tablet and also help remove hard water buildup such as calcium and lime
@@SkyManagement Yup yup! Vinegar, when used properly, can really extend the life of the washer. I don't recommend it often, but it works, as they say, in a pinch. It's just so important to properly measure.
Top loader. No "residue" that I could tell. No different smell. I didn't have a problem. Just happened to see the afresh in the store for the first time in all these years and thought I would try it.
If you use bleach when washing whites, I think it does enough to kill the bacteria and prevent build up. I think the key issue is people close the lid after washes. The lid needs to be opened to allow the drum to dry.
@@_w_w_ I don't wash every day and I leave the top up for 24 hours or so after I do a load. Rarely use bleach, but use a moderate amount of stain removers, pine sol, borax.

Glad we could help. We still use these about every 6 months or if it starts to smell funny. Makes a difference
I use a couple of these a month, helps keep the machine running super clean.
Nice

Yeah. I’ve had a front loader before. And they can get gross if you don’t clean them regularly. I prefer the top loaders.

Used them in my top loader and after just one use it no longer smelled like rotten eggs. 😂 Best thing ever
I know right! They make ones for a dishwasher too. About once every other month I run one through there too. Glad you found it helpful!

My mom's has the cleaning cycle too. it's nice to see them adding that to the newer machines.
Kinda weird that the crap at the bottom didn't get drained with the water.
I know is that suppose to happen ir sonetimes normal if you clean it
What did I do wrong? Set it to self clean, did two cycles but it's not getting the grime off.

My washer had none of that residue after using the Affresh. Older machine and first time using Affresh. How can that be?

How can you know it’s clean inside without dissembling the washer?

@@SkyManagement Please DO NOT mix bleach and vinegar.
Mixing chlorine bleach, which contains sodium hypochlorite, with any type of acid like vinegar creates chlorine gas.
Yea i womder thet too

No, grazie! Un bel tappo di candeggina delicata, lavaggio a 90° con lavatrice vuota ed ecco la lavatrice igienizzata con pochissimi centesimi.

Have had a washer for about six years. Just trying the clean cycle for the first time today. Do not expect to see any black stuff. We will see.
I did at home… it was ugly lol

You did it wrong dude, you forgot to soak it for a couple hours before starting the heavy wash cycle
The directions don’t state that you need to soak first

You have to add water to it
Yes. You have to add water to it. Just putting the dry pellet in the machine will accomplish nothing. As always… follow instructions
