The op thing about the sorrow glaive isn't the +1, it's the thorn whip cantrip on a BONUS action. Extra attack and pulling enemies to you. Imagine juggling them thru an aoe combined with say any abilities that push enemies away, eb with repelling blast comes to mind.
@@Viper3220 It doesn't. Thornwhip pulls them closer, that doesn't provoke an AOO because it is Forced Movement. If you're having trouble killing the commander in the tutorial or running out of turns... I simply had shadowheart cast command, drop weapon, on him. Picked up the sword and went on to the cut scene.
the returning pike you get from the merchant goblin at the goblin camp. costs 130 gold and returns to the owner after being thrown. paired with polearm master and the ring that increases thrown weapon damage by 1d4 is just too versatile and fun to use.
Add the tavern brawler feat and a berserker barbarian. And you have a winning combo even in the late game. Honestly I don't think I've changed my gear much if at all.
@@GhostsofOnyx there is also a nice weapon in act 3 that you can use instead of the pike...but I'll be real I still use the pike when I'm not trying to damage my other characters.
So just a quick one, there is a very overpowered weapon you can actually get in chapter one. This is not mentioned much on the internet so i thought I would share. This weapon can be obtained from the Dragonrider you encounter near the mountain pass entrance. Make a manual save before you reach him as this will take a few attempts because of his high stats. You need to sneak up to him and cast heat metal. Why you ask? Because this will cause him to drop a Legendary version of the Gith Blade. Yeah Legendary..This two hander is amazing even better when used by a certain companion.. This forbidden knowledge is now yours to use it can be used on alot of npcs to get their weapons. Command can also be used but has a much lower success chance hence why we use heat metal. As a side note the game will show he has dropped his weapon and it will be on the ground this means you can simply pick it up.The best part about this is that it will trigger his dialog then he will TP away.Depending on your roll you will have to fight his minions or flex so hard they will back off. Sorry for the long post. Please spread the word to others,no need to mention or credit me.Have a great day all.
I made the fight for the Everburn Blade a bit easier by putting a chest in front of the door so that the enforcement can't get in, as the chest is sturdy the one in the room with the "perfect" room, they will do 1 dmg to the chest and you can focus on fighting the boss.
For the Sorrow Glaive, its damage didn't change, chances are the character that you're showing that is using it has leveled up strength, which increases damage with all melee weapons. Sorrow only gives an additional +1 to hit and to damage. Same with the Everburn blade, it does not give any damage bonus besides the 1d4 fire.
Dont know when they changed Sorrow, but it is now different then before (in EA). Same damage and +1, but now it has no curse (doesnt dmg you anymore) and has different skill (sorrowful lash) instead of ensnaring strike.
You don’t have to help the Druid to get access to the room with glaive. What I did was finding the note from Nettie which says about the rune from Rath, then just stole it from him 2:29
The electric staff is the best one. Using Magic Missile triggers it by itself. Other things like Dual Cast, etc. with it and you can trigger it pretty much every turn.
Hint for Sorrow Glaive: You DON'T need to side with the druids. You can simply pickpocket the "Rune of the Wolf" off of Rath. It took 10 minutes of preparation, minor illusion, and some patience, but was able to snatch it and get it away with it.

Shadowheart with staff of arcane brilliance and the item that when you heal someone they get bless is op as hell. I have legendary from creche and i find rhe staff better as noone ever misses in combat due to the mystra bless buff
9:30 - where did you get the name Azreal from? The "half dogs" are called Gnolls (they're actually half hyena) and the leader is a sub-species called a Flind, none of which have names mentioned, so I dunno where that came from?
Out of the 3 get the staff with lightning and the ring that gives you plus1 to magic missile. Each magic missile counts for the stacks and never misses
You don't have to fight the Autonotoms in the wizard's tower if you read the pages on the way up... keep talking to the main guard/autonotom (after the initial hug), and he'll give you the ring.
On the first sword it's easier to have shadowheart command him to drop it and then pick it up you have to change her spells before the encounter but yeah it's how I did it.
D20 systems can be so annoying sometimes lol. I actually tried and failed to kill the demon commander from the prologue, my attacks just kept missing until eventually his reinforcements arrived, killed the mindflayer and then turned to one-shotting my party for 20 damage hits on chars that have 11 health. Strategies are everything you need. With a good strategy I managed to win against a team of 9 levels being 6 level. It was hard and I had to f5 and f8 a lot but still won
Surprised he didn't mention Phalar Aluve. It's a unique drow longsword you can find in the underdark. It's also pretty accessible early on if you take the right path which avoids the lvl5 encounters there. It's a phenomenal weapon for a variety of characters because A: it has the unique property of being a finesse weapon despite being a longsword. B: has a +1 weapon enchantment. and C: has an absolutely amazing active ability. The active ability is used once per short rest and has a buff or debuff version. The buff version grants everyone in the party a mini-version of the Bless spell for a while. It's +1d4 to attack rolls and Int, Wis, and Cha saves. The debuff version gives -1d4 to the same rolls, to all enemies in an aoe centered on the wielder. But what makes this so strong is that the debuff version *does not allow a saving throw to avoid the effects* and this is huuuuuuge. When it comes to enemy saving throws, there's not a whole lot of ways to reduce them, and of those, almost all of them require the enemy to fail a saving throw first, which feels like it defeats the purpose. And while it is a shame that it only affects mental saves, some of the strongest control spells in the game (hold person, hypnotic pattern) require a Wis save to avoid them. Don't sleep on this sword, y'all, it absolutely slaps. Oh, did I mention the active ability doesn't require concentration? Because it doesn't require concentration. You can absolutely pop a speed potion on turn one, debuff all enemy saves, and then cast Hypnotic Pattern with your second action and you've more than likely trivialized most encounters.
It's worth noting that all those +2, +5 whatever bonuses are not actually the damage bonuses of the weapons themselves... they're the damage modifier from your stats plus whatever modifier the weapon has. So like, when he says the Sword of Justice can do more damage than the Everburning Sword... it can't. The Sword of Justice is a +1 Greatsword, while the Everburning Sword is a Greatsword that deals +1d4 damage. They both have the same strength modifier underlying them.
Cast command drop wpn on the boss at the start, and he will drop the blade for you to just pick up. You however do not get the achievement for defeating him ofc.
The +3, +4, +5 you keep mentioning is your characters modifier, +3 1 at 16 str for example, +4 at 18 str etc, plus the weapon, 0 if its non magical, +1 if its a plus 1 weapon, plus 2 if its, well a +2 weapon, none of the weapons are granting +4 to hit / damage alone.
Shattered flail is amazing on a warlock. You don’t need to hit with it to get the health. I haven’t changed my warlock’s weapon yet and I’m well in to act 2.
The oil of accuracy and other such consumables can't be applied to the everburn blade though. Keep that in mind. +2 to hit is often better than 1d4 fire damage
I found a spear for my paladin which returns when thrown. Being a more or less strength based char with the ability to snipe people and fight at the front line without losing my weapon is a great deal of fun. I’m not sure how optimal the dmg is, but I’ve had a lot of fun with it at least
Do you remember the name of it? I think I saw it on a merchant somewhere and chose not to buy it, but actually wanting it for my berserker barb to always have something to throw.
still not super sure how much randomness there is in drops and merchant inventory but for my bezerker barb I picked up the returning pike (not as a main weapon but just for throwing, it returns even if you throw it from your inventory) and I have two items which increase throwing damage, a ring that gives 1d4 to throws and some gloves that give 1d4 to throwing and impro weapons. combined I throw for 1d10+2d4+7 (rage damage and strength) throws often outdamage my greatsword. It's great as an option if you can't quite reach the next enemy or to use your bonus action after beating up someone else. dunno where exactly but all of those items I found/bought in act 1. Also the extra 1d4 on impro weapons really helps if you feel like beating a gobbo with another gobbo which never gets old XD
Even better when you use from heights. Thrown weapons gain bonus dmg from the higher you throw from with maybe no damage cap. Someone else on RUclips showed throwing a from ontop of 40 crates for insane bonus damage
Yeah...Zhalik's greatsword is pretty difficult at the hard difficulty. He has 195hp and the mindflayer fighting him got absolutely shredded on my playthrough, and the reinforcements show up in about 3 turns.
Best weapon I’ve found is the returning polearm from the goblin trader. Thrown damage is utterly bonkers and having a heavy throwing weapon on a strong character makes you basically a mobile Ballista.
For Sorro you don't need to complete the mission. You can pick-pocket Rath and get the stone tablet that opens the treasure room in the room Netty takes you into to talk. Also, if you shut the first door behind you and then talk to Netty, you can then turn around and kill her to get the headband that is the key to that room.
For early levels, do a frnzy barbarian with the ring of flinging, the amulet that gives ypu +2 to any thrown weapon and theowing feat, then buy the returning pike from emerald enviorans, you will have 3 attacks by level 5, each dealing an average of 25-30 damage. Very strong for early levels, amd multiple mid health enemy fights.
Dont know when they changed Sorrow, but it is now different then before (in EA). Same damage and +1, but now it has no curse (doesnt dmg you anymore) and has different skill (sorrowful lash) instead of ensnaring strike.
The formula for damage depends on your characters str/dex stat btw so when it says 2d6 + 3 for example, that’s 2d6 damage plus your ability modifier. So when you compare SoJ and EBB if you compared with the same character with the same stats you would have the same +3 on both weapons.
@@Khrazegaming not easy to kill him if your playing tactician though... i tried but he killed the mindflayer too quickly and then 1 shot laezel so i ran for the console.. and that was with a 5 person team (laezel and shadowheart + my friends... for the tutorial you can actually go past the normal party limit)... still couldn't kill him fast enough in tactician.
Sorrow does not do 1d4 fire damage. The reason you are seeing 1d4 fire on it is because lae'zel has the flawed helldusk gloves equipped, which gives melee weapons 1d4 fire damage and unarmed strikes 1d4 necrotic
Hah, I pickpocketed the wolf tome from Rath after finding out he had it from reading a note in the druid library. So, I got Sorrow before completing any missions in the grotto.
My main character got down before looting the demon in the beginning but I was still able to loot the sword by using another character drop it into my downed main characters inventory
A cheese way to get that first blade is have Shadowheart use Command and force him to drop his weapon. Just save before you do since the odds are not good for success and you may need to try a couple times.
I killed the commander in the tutorial and got the corresponding trophy, but the Everburn Blade is missing from my inventory. Has anyone faced the same issue? I read that this could be due Shadowheart's lack of trust in you, but that later in the game I would be able to fully access her inventory and get the sword. Is that right?
I've been avoiding most spoilers for my first playthrough. Only looked up a few puzzles places (I couldn't find a certain place for a quest for the life of me) I couldn't figure out. (I'd rather not waste 30 minutes looking through the same place) I'll definitely go more min-max on my second playthrough and watch all videos like this.
Prepare Command on Shadowheart just before the fight and use Command: Drop to trivialize getting the Everburn blade. Don't waste time trying to kill commander Zhalk
The op thing about the sorrow glaive isn't the +1, it's the thorn whip cantrip on a BONUS action. Extra attack and pulling enemies to you. Imagine juggling them thru an aoe combined with say any abilities that push enemies away, eb with repelling blast comes to mind.

Also, if you shut the first door behind you and then talk to Netty, you can then turn around and kill her to get the headband that is the key to that room.
Or you can trigger an all out carnage war in the city straight out, go pick up all the key items off the various druid bodies, and go loot it 😆
@@daemeonp yea, but that messes up your vendors and you loose the ability to get certain rares off them and it can mess up your story line.
I like that returning javelin from the goblin vendor in ch1 is good for barb berserkers.
You can change Shadowheart's spells to command (drop item) just before the fight. make him drop the weapon then run lol.
Imagine not slaughtering the druids first thing during your play through!
I really like the halberd from the construct at the mage tower (in the underdark).
I wanna see more videos, about magical items and where to find them
I've got a lot of them coming :D
Can't wait to play this on console
My computer can’t play this. I need it on console.
When is is suppose to drop for console?🤔
@@KairosSusurri September 06 2023 for PlayStation 5
😂😂😂😂
Without mods?
Dont know when they changed Sorrow, but it is now different then before (in EA). Same damage and +1, but now it has no curse (doesnt dmg you anymore) and has different skill (sorrowful lash) instead of ensnaring strike.
The formula for damage depends on your characters str/dex stat btw so when it says 2d6 + 3 for example, that’s 2d6 damage plus your ability modifier. So when you compare SoJ and EBB if you compared with the same character with the same stats you would have the same +3 on both weapons.
You don't have to kill Commander Zhalk to get his sword you can actually disarm him, grab the sword and make a run for it!
Might aswell get the xp.
Nah I’m greedy I need that xp, his watch, mothers maiden name, and his first pets name.
yeah but you miss out on reaching the beach with level 2. Plus lvl3 then comes faster
@@Khrazegamingyou will hit level 2 if you last hit the mind flayer before you bail. Much easier to do.
So, I got Sorrow before completing any missions in the grotto.
can someone please remind me of the spear that will return to your inventory after you throw it? what is the name
“Returning Pike”? I’m not sure
My main character got down before looting the demon in the beginning but I was still able to loot the sword by using another character drop it into my downed main characters inventory
Cast Command: Drop Weapon with shadow heart. Grab the sword and run away.
A cheese way to get that first blade is have Shadowheart use Command and force him to drop his weapon. Just save before you do since the odds are not good for success and you may need to try a couple times.
For Sorrow, you can also attempt to pick pocket the tablet right away without doing the questline first
ritual dagger is trash bro what are you smoking, so many better options than daggers in this game with racial proficiencies lmao
also left out the mithral items from the forge- best heavy helmet and armor ive found since the release rework
@@sneauxday7002 He has a separate video for armor, this one was only weapons.
Can't use this sword because it doesn't sheath or show in cutscenes and it drives me CRAZY!!!!
You missed king underthemountain short sword it’s a purple blade that does good damage early on
Githyanki bonus for their weapons also works when you shapeshift into one.
Does anyone know where the bracers of defense are? I cant seem to find them
in the laboratory chest, under the alchemy shop in the abandoned village
So not a single rapier, shortsword, longsword…. Great.
Wait, what stronghold is the dagger in?
I think it’s in the Underdark. Something like the old temple to Shar. The one with the duegar that are digging.
No it is in the goblin stronghold
@@fredrikellestad8717 looking back yeah you’re right. It’s in that room freaky Loviatar worshiper’s room
these 'enemies' are not fighting back. easy take downs.
Bro you have to take the medium armor boots off of Astarion. He's not getting sneak attack....... You know, the whole point of Rogue's in combat.
got them all already but nice video
Comand was great fir the first tip
I've been avoiding most spoilers for my first playthrough. Only looked up a few puzzles places (I couldn't find a certain place for a quest for the life of me) I couldn't figure out. (I'd rather not waste 30 minutes looking through the same place) I'll definitely go more min-max on my second playthrough and watch all videos like this.
Prepare Command on Shadowheart just before the fight and use Command: Drop to trivialize getting the Everburn blade. Don't waste time trying to kill commander Zhalk
What about the singing sword
