Xamaica. But it's so hard not to go full tiki whenever I get started with a Daiquiri... because I can't choose a rum so I start mixing them and then, well, I have syrups and pimento dram right here...good grief.

Mixology/bartending is an art form... play with it, make it your own, and avoid the inflexible "has to be this way or it's wrong" of these things called cocktails. Nice work as always team & cheers to national daiquiri day! 🍹

I love a good daquiri. I use 'em for a couple things: first, just to make a really simple, easy, tasty drink. But I also like to make a quick daquiri with about every new bottle of rum just because it's a great way to try the rum and get a feel for how it mixes.

Thanks for the Daiquiri refresher and the dark rendition, always looking for great riffs on the classics. Great drink to discover and develop critical cocktail skills. I learned two key lessons from making the Daiquiri at home. 1. How to balance the sweet and sour notes for my palate (I lean slightly sweet) while maintaining the signature lime bite of the Daiquiri. 2. How to shake for proper chill, dilution, aeration, and integration.

The only grip I have with a daiquiri is how quickly they go down! For the classic, I LOVE using Plantation 3 Star rum. Just a hint of funk adds some complexity. Same rum I like to use in my mojitos for the same reason.

Another vote for Plantation 3 here. Made an enormous difference in the quality of my daiquiri. My ratios are sightly different but they work for me: 2 rum:1 lime:0.75 crystal syrup (1:1)

You are so right about the greatness and timelessness of this cocktail. Between light, dark, agricole and overproof rums, there are endless (and delicious) combinations to explore here. For a while, my go-to was 50/50 barbancourt 4-yr and wray & nephew, which was tasty and very potent. Also loved working smith & cross into various combos. Cheers!

Hey Anders, I love your take on this. I have actually read through some of the old Daiquiri recipes. Some did include modifiers (I.e. a dash of grenadine, or curaçao, or maraschino, or bitters). I really like the dash of grenadine included next to the simple syrup. I know it’s not the classic, but each to their own. Enjoy your weekend bro, I really appreciate your videos every week, I know it takes a lot of effort to make these. Cheers 🍹

I make daiquiris as a template to try things, (bitters, syrups, etc.) so I've had quite a few daiquiris that were odd colors. Also, I use whatever rum I'm drinking that month, not always a Cuban style, so even then they're rarely bright white.
My favorite uses Plantation 3 star, agave syrup, lime, and a fat dash of orange bitters.

Still not making any rum drinks and still have no rum bottles in the home bar. It all dates back to a college days, very long ago and very ill-advised "daquiri tasting" evening that evolved into a rum shots evening. Haunting memories, let me say. That being said, now older, wiser, and vastly more careful with my cocktails, I have been leaning towards perhaps trying rum again. If I do, it will be due, in rather large part, to your (and my Bronx pal Vino's) various rum cocktail videos, particularly this one and the "not a Painkiller" one (I must acknowledge I did enjoy a few of those way post-college while in the Caribbean, very near the Soggy Dollar Bar). So, thanks very much, again for your fun and informative videos, I think. :) Have a great weekend, both of you!

So just tonight was daiquiri night here using Appleton Estate 8 yr. Reserve, and a 1-to-1 demerara syrup. Much more robust than with Bacardi. Very reminiscent of my very first drink ever at Franklin Mortgage Co. here in Philly, where I was introduced to El Dorado 12 yr. I am happy to find that others make a “Dark Daiquiri”, and I enjoy both variations. For the classic Daiquiri I use Bacardi Heritage which is 89 proof and distilled in Mexico. I personally prefer 1:2:4 for lime:syrup:rum, but that's clearly a matter of taste. Thanks for another great video, Anders!
EDIT: Oh, and I also use a 1:1 simple syrup so that definitely has something to say too.

I've been making my daiquiris lately with Rhum Barbancourt Haitian White!! Light and refreshing. If I want a "rummy" rum, my go to is Probitas!

The daiquiri, my all time favorite drink. I always make it with a Jamaican pot still and a rich Demerara

So last Sunday I was making two Daquiries using Hamilton white Stache and the other was Plantation 3 star. .75 lime, .5 rich simple, 2 oz rum. Both were excellent, with Plantation being a bit sweeter. I also like using Kaniche XO with lemon instead of lime when I want a dark daquiry.

Amazing! I love them both. Luckily in my country I can get both Havana Club and Santiago de Cuba, so these are what I am using. Cheers, Anders. Your channel is awesome.

I love a good DAQ, I heard from a few friends that that the best thing to do with any new bottle of rum is to try it in one and see how it goes.
    great video anders cheers!

loving your videos. i use either a clairin haitian rum, better to make a nuclear daiuiri with chartreuse vert, velvet falernum and lime juice.
or Veritas Barbados white rum 47%. i think you have a bottle on your back shelf. exactly the way you did the light daquiri. LOVE a daiquiri me. so cheers

Hey Anders, been watching now for a few months, made most of my fave cocktails from your recipes, or direct riffs of them. Made something today; 1 oz Hennessy, 1 oz Angostura Trinidad & Tobago 5 year, 1 oz Curaçao, 1 oz lime juice, and just shy of 3/4 oz of “your” grenadine. Wow! What did I do?!?!

Take a look at the Hemingway Daquiri. Basic daiquiri without simple sugar but with grapefruit juice and maraschino cherry liqueur added. Ernie drank his on the rocks.
