As someone that's actually worked as a cake decorator in a grocery store... It's actually really sad that there ARE a lot of talented and intelligent people and often times we are either restricted by the tools or management demands. Actually right before I left, all of the stores in each region had a Halloween competition, and I was the chosen decorator for my store and was given no restrictions other than it had to be Halloween and completely editable. I made a checkerboard "Penny Dreadful" cake with a checker board sculpted jewelry box and a realistic bleeding heart cake nestled on top. We won and my team was nice enough to give me the prize as a farewell.

I’d be shocked if he was actually an employee rather than an independent contractor. He’s not there, he doesn’t get paid. No benefit, just nice to not get your contract terminated if you take an extended leave.
Also, we don't know how long these seasons take to film. Josh doesn't live in Denver/near Bluprint, so they could have filmed the season in like a month and Brandon just happened to be gone the whole time.

Hey guys! I have a big question. I'm getting married next year, and there are NO cake decorators where I live #middleofnowhere. So I'm making my own wedding cake for my summer outdoor wedding 😥😨🤯 my question is, do you think it would be a better idea to do one big traditional style cake, or a small cake for cutting and something like cupcakes or cake pops for the guests? Follow up question, how far in advance can I make them and have them still taste great day of? PS. I have made a wedding cake before, my sister's, so I know the basics.
Don't stress yourself. One for cutting and cupcakes for the guests. Congrats on the wedding.
Congrats!!!! Definitely a small one for cutting and cupcakes. You can still decorate them and make them as fancy or simple while still being beautiful and delicious!!!!
If you do cupcakes, you can make them up to a month in advance and freeze them un-iced. Pick an elegant and easy decoration and whip them out two days before. For cake pops, finish them and freeze them for up to 2 months.
Congratulations! Cupcakes would be a pain in the butt to decorate! If you do a small decorated one for you and your party then you can do large sheet cakes that will be a lot easier to decorate. And they’re not too hard to make the day before.
I've done the cupcakes before for my niece's wedding. That route is great. Especially if you use a star tip and just do the rose. Easy peasy. I would just recommend making a small full butter cream cake for your first anniversary! Congrats!

It's an American cake that like he said was just named after a guy who happened to have a name the same as the country. It's chocolate cake with a chopped nuts, coconut, and some really sweet brown stuff- maybe brown sugar?- as the filling, and usually the chocolate is a little more intensely chocolate flavored than standard milk chocolate but not as strong as dark chocolate. BUT, if the post wasn't a real question and was meant as humor, sorry if I ruined your funny comment!

The cake was originally made in an area of the US that was founded by a large number of German immigrants. They named the cake.....my grandma is German and the first time she saw this cake she had never heard of it either.

Lol I had a dream last night where Joshua was there! I was trying to make my dad a cake for his birthday but it was like really little. The top was basically like a cupcake size, and it was beautiful! But the top kept slipping and moving around cuz I guess there was too much frosting or whatever. So I look up and see JJR by the cupboard and I'm like "Joshua! Can you get me a toothpick please?" But you said no... Then you saw how badly my cake was sliding, so you got out this jar with what you called your "tiny sharp dowels," and gave me one to use. Well, I stuck it in the top cake and put it on the bottom one...and then it like absorbed into the bottom cake! 😱 I was upset but you said it was fine, cake's just do that sometimes. LOL

It's a pretty rebuild but I dont really think you did the challenge. You did a total reconstruction and got rid of the most challenging component to work with. It would have truly been a challenge if you would have had to keep the icing as part of how you reworked the cakes.As was, you simply had 3 different size round cakes to stack, even a novice Baker could do that. Disappointed 😟

Why does nobody ever mention that THIS much black colouring tastes GHASTLY....?? It stains your teeth and pretty much everything it comes in contact with too. Oh. And real flowers look SO much nicer in the garden 💐 I make mine out of modelling chocolate. Not so hard really and they taste infinitely better! I totally prefer your scratch creations........🎂 Next week maybe. Hope you all had a good break 😉

We're so glad you're back! My 4-year-old and 2-year-old boys love watching you make cakes. Their favorites are the monster birthday cake, shoe cake, and the Jurassic World cake. We've watched them all many many times. My 2-year-old is especially happy with this episode, though, because you ate your cake. He's been very frustrated that you stopped eating your cakes on the show. 😆

He is constantly getting food poisoning also, but because he doesn't know when things have gone bad. Honestly, whenever MAC takes a long break, or any break at all... they lose my interest. I loooove the show, and i watch ALL their episodes (repeatedly) but whenever they take a break, they make me irritated, and look for somethign else to watch. Out of sight, out of mind. And when whenever a new season starts, i feel like im being dragged out of the bed just to watch it, and it takes a while again for me to like it. Only to be cut short by a season finale and then the long wait continues to erode my interest. It is irritating. And here they come with a cheerful disposition with a message that seem to say “hey, we’re back!! Aren’t you happy we’re on air again?” Duh? After you left me hanging for so long? Not really. (But ill watch you anyway- grudgingly. Until I would find myself not really caring anymore).
MAC, here’s a lesson you have to learn:
Consider consistency. This is probably the reason why you aren’t hitting over a million mark yet. You are NOT consistent.
If you need a break... don’t leave for too long. Otherwise, just pack your bags and say “bye! We are done! Go watch other shows!”
