I have an American Strat that I bought back in, I believe 2002. Using it with a Marshall 60W tube amp, and have the bridge blocked. About 6 months ago I got my 12 year old grandson a Squier Bullet HT and a cheap 20W Fender practice amp. I got the amp off eBay, and the guitar from Guitar Center in the U.S. for $199 plus $17.87 tax. It has the standard three Strat pickups, neck, center and bridge. I was absolutely amazed. I couldn't put it down. Yes I could nitpick it, but compared to the $2000 it now costs for an American Strat, it's 90% or more as good. I was going to try and teach him how to play, but every time I get it in my hands I don't want to give it back. Guess I'm going to have to pay for lessons, which I figured on anyway, I'm not the best teacher. Oh, BTW, that CA tag on it is a joke. CA is a joke. It is no longer considered part of the U.S. in many parts of the country. I've been hoping it would sink into the ocean for decades now.
I can't get over how good this sounds for £115! Back in the nineties that would have bought you an Encore Strat copy that would have sounded pretty bad! The entry level guitars are certainly far greater quality and better playability these days. Really enjoying your channel keep up the good work!
That was every music note I needed to hear, Bravo. Thanks for the info as well, I'm in the market for my first guitar so obviously I'm trying to do my homework on Squires.
Great review! I got my daughter the same HSS Strat for Christmas. The guitar plays very well out of the box, but I did upgrade to more comfortable saddles and put on some Hipshot locking tuners. It’s hard to believe how well this low cost instrument plays. I can’t wait for her to play it!
Love the channel keep doing cheap gear I’m an old dude and love the reviews on affordable gear as my pension check goes so far but I do love new gear great playing gives an idea of how it sounds so thanks again
Regardless of its short comings, you have a nice touch playing it. It sounded beautiful to my ears. I have this guitar and hope to learn on it. Thanks for this video.
Last year I walked into my local Guitar Center. Saw a Lake Placid Blue Squier Bullet Strat (with vibrato) hanging in the used section for $49.00. Seeing that I love Lake Placid Blue, I took it home. I put split shaft vintage style tuners on it (because I like them) and bent steel saddles, also a mint pickguard (just for looks). I have four other strats but I find myself picking this one up the most. Darker sounding than my others but that makes for nice variety. I've grown quite fond of it.
Yes got a lovely pink one at a pawn shop Might have had some upgrades I put a better bridge on it and a relic job Aged plastic knobs and pup covers It's close to my vintage and CS Strats
Ha! Here we are watching two years later. Just saw a brand new seafoam green Bullet Strat on deal at Musician's Friend for $160 and bought it instantly. Have a Classic Vibe 50's maple fingerboard neck ordered from the STRATosphere on the way along with a new set of Fender vintage tuners. Only other mod planned is to change out the white plastic knobs and pickup covers to a different color. All in cost just under $300 after selling on the Bullet neck. Bullet body, Classic Vibe neck, Fender tuners. Hella deal. Cheers!
I owned some japanese made squier bullets a squier strat and a fender strat back in the 80s. all them great guitars to varying degrees. i have a single humbucker red MIJ strat with only a volume knob. I added a coil tap for single coil and it was a rocker. simple. graphite nut from the factory standard cheap tremolo but nice.
Pal, great review as usual. Picked up one of these on a whim a few months ago in shell pink. Just throwaway money as you mention. Only needed a string change, really nice little player.
Cheers Mando! I have a plan to turn mine into a single P90 'Junior' Strat... I have already got the parts now I just need to get round to it! It's on the list.
Don't fret the California warning. I'm from the US and California's penchant for labels against any chemicals is notorious, whether true or not. All good Colin.😊
It might cost 115 pounds but you made it sound a lot more expensive, beautiful playing as always. I have three Squier Strats and love them all each with different pu s and wiring.
I bought another one later last year to replace the one that was stolen and it had the rosewood fretboard but it was lacking at the bride but I play the neck mostly but then I bought the burst version and it was defective and the fret edges were a nightmare. I sent it back to Sweetwater and they sat it up for me and it's well worth the 179 dollars I paid for it.
Never believe a guitarist that plays up the neck with his thumb sticking out in front..! Naw - I'm just jiving...lol Great video. I own 4 of these Stratocaster Hardtail Bullet guitars....I love the necks on them. 4 of these for UNDER $500, no brainer...!
Hi from Phoenix, Arizona. Liked your playing and dry wit ! Gonna check out your channel for sure. These Bullets are getting up their in price due supply chain. Now around $210 in U.S. a couple of years ago they were around $100. Squiers are still great guitars - they get a bad rap sometimes but I’d pick ‘‘em over the other cheap stuff any day of the week. Ok, much appreciated.
I also hate the volume control position on a Strat. So much that I had to make my Strats into master tone and master volume. Just eliminate the original volume control. It's much more playable for me that way. I do love Strats though.
I would like to see your review for the Epiphone Les Paul Muse. I only seen a small amount when it first came out but no recently reviewed after being out for a while.
I really enjoyed this review and decided to buy one! The only thing I'm not sure about is if the humbucker effects the neck and middle pickups? as I mostly play clean with delay and reverb and was wondering if the SSS version would have been a better choice.(i rarely use bridge pick up anyway but heard the versatility was worth it) Any advice would be appreciated 🙏
Its great value and very playable so you should like it!... it has 5 way switch so you'll have the options for bridge only/bridge & middle/middle only/middle & neck/neck only... so I reckon this would suit you fine and as you say gives you the option which a lot of strat players seem to prefer anyway. Good luck!

Ha,ha I feel your pain with the siting of that volume control. It's my only gripe with that design, and like yourself prefer the Tele. Squier do some great stuff. The Cabronita Tele is one that i've heard and liked but never tried. I really like the SG look and two of my fave players play them [Iommi and Young], but i've played two and the longer neck means i tend to play over the neck pickup, which is alien to me as it's normally the bridge pickup where my hand hovers. I've heard Firebirds and one or two of the longer neck guitars are similar. It's possibly something I may get used to but i've never owned one due to that.
@Eawahwah Thanks for comment. I hear a lot of folk say that SG’s feel odd but personally i love the feel and comfort of them... with tele’s a close second. I suppose you adjust fairly quickly anyway? but I’m not sure about Strats though!
