One of the best tutorials I've seen over last 20 yrs. In fact, so informational that I'm thinking twice about replacing the cooling fan and hope to somehow dislodge the gunk with compressed air. Machine is 6 yrs old and a guy is certain to charge me at least $50 for labor alone. Plus parts and age..........

Very nice video, I used it to take apart a dv7-7212nr, which is largely the same. Be very careful when taking the palmist/keyboard out, I managed to break the display mounts in the process, which are pretty flimsy plastic. Just going to epoxy the whole mess back in place and hope the machine dies before it needs any more work. What a horrible design, HP. I guess they really don't want you to fix this and would prefer you buy a new one.

This is a non-lit keyboard. There are some versions that have a second 4 contact ribbon under the right alt key for the lit version of the keyboard.

Hello! I'd like to ask you some info, I have a laptop hp dv7-6b41el, I had problems at the pc, I checked and the motherboard was completely melted, the rest is all working, I searched in internet for that specific motherboard model, but there isn't, however, I find the motherboard "in general" dv7-6000 series, although it is not dv7-6b41el should not change anything, at least in base of what I know, right? ps: where I could buy it at a cheap price?
