    The concept is quite similar.
    In Vedanta school of philosophy, the light is already there, but it is unseen by one until one tries to recognize it through 3 paths(knowledge, devotion, meditation) practices it daily for "clearing" the cloud of ignorance/darkness
    -- the state is called Satchitanananda in sanskrit, which is not equivalent to Enlightenment

    Very good, the comparison to Mendelssohn‘s perspective. Could potentially be interesting to look at how such Mendelssohnian notions were carried into the 20th century with Adorno and his sphere, or are being contemporarily established by the work and influence of Markus Gabriel.
