The Fireman’s Carry, or kata garuma, is one of the coolest throws found across multiple disciplines and sports. Whether it’s judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, Sambo or other grappling styles, this throw is exciting, dynamic and effective. However, traditional versions of it tend to require a good deal of athleticism. This modified version in this video, in my opinion, is a little more accessible. Since learning this one years again, I’ve loved it. So I’m sharing some of the details on it here, modifications, entries and finishes. I hope you like it.

There's a variation I like a lot in which instead of duck under the opponent's arm I place my leg behind my opponent's.
I feel though that it is only possible to go with that kind of move if the opponent's grip is not too high, like in my gi tag.
Any idea on what to do in that situation other then avoiding that kind of grip 😅?

This is pretty dangerous. Somebody literally just popped my wrist from that first variation today. I noticed even the use here let go of the lapel when you are demonstrating the move. If you are doing it live, you wont have time to do that.
