Richard Buckminster Fuller (July 12, 1895 - July 1, 1983) was an American architect, systems theorist, writer, designer, inventor, philosopher, and futurist....Fuller developed numerous inventions, mainly architectural designs, and popularized the widely known geodesic dome. ; carbon molecules known as fullerenes were later named by scientists for their structural and mathematical resemblance to geodesic spheres. -Wikipedia
@@dave.p153 Sextant. They’re very cool too. Between the two tools they’re massively responsible for world navigation. And the other sort of compass, too.
This is gonna be a hit with the kids! Wish someone taught me this as a kid, would have been so much better than the cardboard tipi we had (:Clever little greenscreen timesaver at the end there! ;)
that end scene was a green-screen cheat. Rob didn't make the full size tents! We had a geodesic dome in the 70's that was about 10 meters wide and could easily fit about 50 people.
If we wanted to add more and more belts to get a fuller dome shape, how many triangles would we need on the second and third belts? I'm curious to know if it's an arithmetic or geometric progression and what the rules are for it.
I must compliment Rob on his rather sharp looking brown skivvy.
Try it on your geodesic shape loving friends.

Buckminsterfullerene - bucky ball.
Atomic master craft.
I was so hoping you were going to show a full-size dome that you could actually step into. That would be fun even as an adult.
I still remember as a kid thinking what amazing technology the compass was lol
And it is. It’s simplicity belies it’s power.
The concept also helped navigation across the seas.
@@sean---the-other-one knew someone that could operate a Sexton, I think it was called ?

Why is Rob always dressed as a doctor and Dean is a Miami Vice styled cop?
🎵Whether igloo, hut or lean-to, or a geodesic dome, there’s no structure I have been to which I’d rather call my home…🎵
Buddy that's what brought me here
Beat me to it.
“Coming up next - make your own Geodesic Dome!”
Anyone else get chills from the marker on the cardboard sound?
I love me some "COD"Board
Swear for just a second I could smell the marker lol
I get the physical reaction even thinking about stuff like that. Especially cotton wool, yuck!!!
Try this with all your geometry loving friends!
And so Rob sheltered all homeless people in cardboard domes
Cardboard flat earthers (cflerfers) believe that the cardboard flat earth is covered by a cardboard geodesic dome. True story. 🙂
Off to make my own giant geodesic d20, thanks Rob!
I would like to have a geodesic in a Lorenzian Manifold.

There’s always one

Arghh 4.13!!! Crickey..
I had to rewatch to see what you meant, meaning I had to endure it twice haha
Urgh please dont use that pen on cardboard again. Made me shudder
