Japanese female metal/rock band merch, mostly Bandmaid, Babymetal, Nemophila, Shirts,Blu rays, cds, funko pops and baseball caps, expensive but worth every penny to me 😆
Too many things to name (I tend to jump into new things when I like something), but my biggest collections are either my music collection (mainly CD's and Blu-rays/DVD's with some merch here and there, I am pretty sure I am probably close to 1500 releases with over 300 Japanese releases) or my video game collection (certainly less physically, but way more if you also count digital).
I saw them last year in Seattle in a sweaty little 250-capacity club, and got a photo with them at the meet-n-greet. Can confirm that they are absolutely the real deal. JaYoung is a rock star front person, and all of them are just the sweetest people ever. Oh, and they did a Lady Gaga cover :) Proud to be a Diadem. 🤘
They're not only talented and beautiful - they're sweet and humble off-stage. I'm incredibly proud of how far they have come in such a short time. They've just done a European tour, and a festival in The Philippines with some big name acts.
I'd suggest their Mr. Big cover of "Daddy, Brother, Lover and Little Boy" as an example of their prowess. If you're at all familiar with the original players you get a sense of the challenge in a faithful cover. ruclips.net/video/61LBeGtN_dI/видео.htmlsi=1XRjelkdlZmBvDnP
I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure Iree's (the red-headed guitarist) smile increases my life expectancy. I recommend more of their stuff, it's all pretty much in this vein. They also do a great cover of Maneskin's "Zitte E Buoni."
Rolling Quartz' Drummer taught Dreamcatcher's Chinese member, Han Dong, to play drums. RQ also has covered Dreamcatcher's song 'Good Night' and did a GREAT job on that song and MV! :)
I saw them play live at the O2 in London in January and they were excellent; loads of energy and they played a great mix of their own MVs and covers, even of Metallica! Great fun to watch and they seem to be genuinely nice, polite and happy young ladies.
Welcome NittPicc... So glad you have found the Beautiful, Talented and very Humble Ladies of Rolling Quartz.. Keep your eye on these ladies they are going to be big.. You Love the drummer? Her name is Yeongeun and you arez not the only one Lol.. Such a Beautiful Lady Please do some more.. PS Can't wait for you to check out East of Eden.. Do the song Evolve Extended Version. Not sure if you are ready foir this, but go for it they are fantastic.. Best wishes from France
Hiya, just catching up on my reaction fix b4 I lose the next 3 and a half hours, as my Bandmaid 10th anniversary blu Ray boxset just got delivered ❤,I saw RQ at a tiny venue in London last month, I went without much expectation tbh,as what I had seen on RUclips hadn't hooked me in at all, but was I pleasantly surprised, they kicked ass,and were very good at crowd interaction, they even walked into the audience high giving everyone, top notch band,ps ❤ your reactions btw
they were recently in köln (cologne). as opener they played a well known local (!) carnival song (viva colonia) in german. and they all are awesome performers, especially jayoung, the singer.
Just wait until you react to their 'Rock'n'roll Paradise'. Live. You will see a great little gem involving Jayoung & Iree on the guitar. Make sure it is the official MV from their youtube channel. But yeah. Jayoung has a great voice for rock.
Saw them in Seattle last year. She really sounds this good in person, total power and clarity, and i would say they are hardrock, rock with nice POP sprinkles to hook you! Only other Korean Rock I know of is DIH... they are great too
Rolling Quartz is appearing in just a couple of days (the 29th) in Minneapolis at Anime Detour ... it may be their only US appearance this year after a full tour in 2023. I saw them live twice last year and they were spectacular. They definitely have a more radio friendly sound than a lot of J-music, but I think that is part of the culture and appeal. You said it ... catchy. Jayoung is actually a vocal instructor and has trained K-pop artists in Korea. She is one of the most powerful vocal performers I know. Yeongeon on drums gets a lot of attention. IRL she is probably the most bashful of the group. Iree (red hair) is a lovable goofball and is never caught without a smile on her face (as you can see by the cameos). Arem on bass fooled me with her edgy look but she is as goofy as Iree ;) . Hyunjung is actually the baddie of the group on the second guitar - usually all business and classy. This band brought K-Rock to the international stage. There is still a way to go in their home market. They started with a number of covers to be able to fill and entire show but with each original song like this they get better and better. The girls all write together.
I didn't find out about them until after they had finished their US tour and I was kicking myself. They are definitely on my list for the next time they come here. They had a great tour here and then a great tour in Europe. I especially like the fact that, like Band Maid, they went with the classic rock lineup with lead, rhythm, bass and drums. It just makes the overall sound so much smoother when the rhythm provides that critical spot between lead, bass and drums. Another great reaction. And also, as another commented below, check out their cover of Maneskin's "Zitti E Buoni", it's short but stellar.
Korea in general more hyping up to boygroups and having rock as the least fav.. by the start of 2017 kpop girlgroup Dreamcatcher officially (re)debuted and they took rock as their kpop base. They keep doing great and slowly becoming more popular. Then we have Rolling Quartz. Their second release also remaking Dreamcatcher's song. Arem (the bassist) is a dreamcatcher fan (based on her unboxing videos on her RUclips channel). Yeongeun (the drummer) did drum cover of some dreamcatcher songs, and actually once being a drum teacher for one of dreamcatcher members. As other said, K-rock girl band also have DIH available, now having 3 girlgroups doing rock base music, while back then the two aspects of underrated things in Korea
RQ is one of my favorite bands. I’ve even seen them live. I found your comment about the brevity of the guitar break interesting. In many of their songs I do find myself wishing the guitar solos lasted longer. It may be that they feel the Korean market won’t tolerate vocal silence for very long. KPop fans love the vocal bridge, and here, the guitar break replaces that.
If you really want to hear what Ja Young's voice can do, listen to their cover of Reminiscence, originally recorded 50 years ago by Korean artist Sanullim, who appears in the video. Please have your tissues handy, P.S. CC in English available, too... ENJOY!
I found your channel yesterday with your Polyphia, Playing God reaction and now you're reacting to Rolling Quartz, my favorite k-rock band. They're fantastic and seem to constantly be gaining new fans. Since you said that you do listen to some K-pop would you be willing to check out the group Dreamcatcher? They're known as the face of rock in K-pop and they use a lot of rock and metal influences in their music. If you'd like to check out their first two releases, Chase Me & Good Night that would give you an idea of their core sound at debut, which was heavily influenced by J-rock. Rolling Quartz has also done a cover of Good Night so you could do those together if you wanted to check out more Rolling Quartz as well. Aside from their Good Night cover, I'd also recommend their song Azalea. Enjoy!
@@NittPicc Another good one for the DC list is their recent rockier version of one of their songs: "Dreamcatcher(드림캐쳐) '거미의 저주 (The curse of the Spider) (2024 Concert Ver.)' MV"
Thank you for the reaction, I really appreciate every good word in respect of these talented young ladies. You mentioned Ja young’s voice, in my opinion she is one of the top rock vocalists at present. If you want to hear one her absolutely outstanding vocals I recommend Reminiscence. It is a remake (I’d call it a total overhaul) of a 70s Sanullim song. This is not a reaction/review request, but if you decide, it would be great.
Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. Yes, a bit of a pop sound but not your typical pop fare with tasty original guitar solos. Like many of the Japanese rock bands, the sound is both familiar but refreshingly new. For some reason the drummer also stood out for me, she has a bit of different style with some amazing machine gun fills.
The biggest difference between Lady Gaga'a voice and Jayoung's voice is that Jayoung does not rely so heavily on autotune. I know that all modern musicians/singers use some degree of effects on their finished product. But Rolling Quartz has done several live streams on RUclips where it is not obvious that they are using any effects.
they managed to connect k-pop and rock by covering Blackpink and BTS PINK DROP = Pink Venom x MIC Drop by AleXa x Rolling Quartz 롤링쿼츠 x 알렉사 (BTS & BLACKPINK Rock Cover)
Love Jayoung's voice and front woman presence! The drummer, Yeonguen, is cool stuff and is kind of a Pixie! The bass player, Arem, is very cool in the groove and seems ferocious, and is my favorite! Iree, Red headed guitarist, is just having a great time, smiling the whole time! I think Hyunjung, blue haired guitarist, is the scariest, an oriental sorceress, but is really good on the guitar! The video production team for these ladies is top notch, for sure! Lots of great songs from Rolling Quartz, covers and originals!
I’ve followed these young ladies since they started, they have done a load of RUclips live shows which are fun. Compared to the J-Rock/Metal bands they have a thinner, simpler sound (although the guitar sounds and production have got beefier recently) and generally simpler songs, they kind of play it safe, but what that leads to is a brilliant live show - they are relaxed on stage and note perfect, which given that the vocals aren’t always super simple, is a thing to behold - that girl can sing! From 6’ away, straight in your face, she’s awesome. If they weren’t as relaxed it wouldn’t be so much fun and you can see that in some of the J-bands, but Rolling Quartz nail it. Next to Hanabie this was my favorite show of 2023. These isn’t the same scene for rock in Korea as Japan (which is still tiny in Japan compared to Idol bands and J-Pop), but it’s there bubbling underground. They do a Lady Gaga cover or two, so that was on point, obviously she nails it every time. I can’t wait until they come back around to the West Coast but I think it’ll be next year sadly. I’ll be in the first 20 of the queue again though for sure. You still haven’t got to TRiDENT or Aldious, huh? Two more treats for you from Japan.
Thanks for checking out Rolling Quartz! They actually just released a great new single a couple days ago called Stand Up and they have an EP coming out in June, so it's a great time to become a fan of them!
There is something that not a people know about Jayoung the singer, except big fans like me, is that she is a former vocal coach, that means that she has a formation of musician, probably composer and vocal coaching. So she know almost everything, about vocal, singing technics and how the voice work lol.
Great band, one of the few current non-Japanese rock bands that I listen to regularly. Bassist Arem (aka Rumi) has a personal RUclips channel with bts/everyday life stuff that she updates frequently. Very talented and likable band with tremendous potential.
I love RQ, been on two of their concerts so far. Met them in person. Iree's smile ... infectious. Since you liked K-Rock, I'd strongly recommend DIH, they are awesome. There are some other female bands like A-Fati, Luli Lee, Marmellio, even some K-Pop groups like Wonder GIrls or AOA Black did band versions. Day6 is one of the more popular male bands, N.Flying, Onewe, although I could probably put a dozen of them in the list.
They have sort of merged the KPop esthetic with rock chops. Korea is way behind Japan on the rock side, but they do have some excellent bands, and this is one of the best. Oh, and my friend Anastasia is also in love with the drummer.
I don't know that much about K-rock (nor K-pop) and I am generally not the biggest Rolling Quartz fan because of how overly produced/polished they sound and because the focus on some videos on their channels seems more on the members than the actual music. They are very much a mix of K-pop style/marketing with rock in that sense. That said, I do understand why people like them and I think they are a really good thing for both the Korean rock scene and the Japanese rock scene. Korea's rock scene is very small from what I have read, probably because of how big pop is over there, but a band like Rolling Quartz can do wonders both in Korea and the West because of how big K-pop is, so people might be more willing to check them out than the Japanese bands and might later on check out Japanese bands as well. I have only heard a couple other Korean rock bands, but my favourite K-rock band is probably DIH. That said they recently went on hiatus, seemingly out of necessity, maybe there was no money left? (pure speculation). I do still recommend checking out DIH though, they are really good. The only other Korean rock band I know (and own albums off actually) is Korean punk band "Drinking Boys And Girls Choir", but they are not comparable musically to both Rolling Quartz and DIH. They are actually touring currently in the US with Japanese punk band Otoboke Beaver. I love Otoboke Beaver (and like I said, they are Japanese, not Korean), but I am not sure how good of a fit they would be for the channel because they are really raw punk (and most likely not to everyones taste because of that). Really talented though, so if you want to take a chance feel free to do so.
@@PANIC_aka_PinD Thanks! I was pretty sure I read that somewhere, but I wasn't sure if it was official or just speculation by someone so I didn't want to make it sound like I knew what I was talking about. Let's hope they find a way to keep making music because they are really good. I remember trying to find CD releases of their EP's but I couldn't find anything, otherwise I would probably have imported at least a couple of them.
I believe Rolling Quartz is a product of the Korean music industry, an example of K-pop planning applied to rock (Like the Monkees in the 1960's). Talents like Janet Suhh and Luli Lee or even groups like Leenalchi really never get the same press.
And you will be so wrong, since Rolling Quartz is NOT a prefabricated band made by a music company. The girls was in 2 separated bands and after the bands like broke up or lost members, i don't remember all the details but in the end some members of both bands started a new band who is now Rolling Quartz. Even the name Rolling Quartz is a fusion of the two band name. So the band has been formed by himself and not by any company. And that is a rare thing in the Korean music industry.
Pleasantly surprised you found RQ so early in your journey of current Asian rock. They are a fantastic band that does a lot to embrace their international audience. They have done several live concerts on RUclips, and they always have both English and Spanish translators on hand for them. For your next reaction I would suggest Azalea.
With you 100% on all points with this band. They aren't new to me but very much enjoyed your take. BTW: Are you a gamer at all? I'd watch you stream pretty much anything. I think you've mentioned it some in other videos but I couldn't find it. Keep up the great content and I'll be looking forward to more!
You should definetly check out some Stuff from Saiseiga! Very underrated Japanese Groove / Metalcore Band that needs way more attention. I can recommend the Songs "Jumble" or "Hanabi" As always great Reaction💪
Serious question: are all female musicians/artists in Korea models? I think this is a really good rock band and especially the singer, her voice is perfect for the type of music they play.
I like this band a lot play . I bought the mini cd. In a few years ago before they all colored their hair they covered Lady Gaga bad romance. Not really a Lady Gaga fan but they do that song well. Check it out

More than male reactor freaked out that the drummer does NOT play in her boots. With very few exceptions petit drummers play n flats OR no shoes. One exception was Lux Drummerete who had a a deal to hype super high heal shoes. So yeah she did a bunch of stuff like this a decade ago (oh and she WAS Nekromantix drummer for a while ruclips.net/video/WlHDT2hS_68/видео.html
The first time I saw them was on a live stream. It was a pretty good show, I would go see them live. Their videos though are over choreographed. They have this "Is it live? or is it Maybelline" look that just seems over the top. If is was parody it would be brilliant.
I like them but Band-Maid has kind of ruined me for female rock groups. The Warning to some extent as well. I expect more? Not to say they are bad at all. I liek them but they are just not to the level I really like.
I've never been a fan of Rolling Quartz, they're talented and cute, but they've always seemed a bit artificial to me. You better check out the Korean girl band DIH, their music is raw and tight, but accessible, and they're pretty too. They will blow you away live: DIH, "Break Out": ruclips.net/video/_oQvLjlKKhc/видео.htmlsi=ABSjGvlS2TeFnpYx 😲 And also they are good enough to cover Mr. Big's "Daddy Brother Lover Little Boy": ruclips.net/video/61LBeGtN_dI/видео.htmlsi=x_AHl8wfDnvMMwau recommended.😉
I would recommend the all female band DIH from South Korea, very cool 80’s rock sound with an excellent singer who can also shred on guitar. Try their song Breakout or the cover song Bang Bang, really awesome. Also try more songs from Rolling Quartz.

Iree can't help but smiling, it seems. Arem, the bass player, is my favorite, but all of these ladies are cool!
I give JaYoung a LOT of credit to learn the lyrics in Italian.

They have sort of merged the KPop esthetic with rock chops. Korea is way behind Japan on the rock side, but they do have some excellent bands, and this is one of the best. Oh, and my friend Anastasia is also in love with the drummer.
IMO -the lead singer sounds kinda like Christina Aguilera. These girls are super cute 😳
Lack of funds was stated as the reason by the band (DIH). Sena is still active doing covers and the girls are still friends.

Thanks!
Pop Rocks my favorite hard candy
With you 100% on all points with this band. They aren't new to me but very much enjoyed your take. BTW: Are you a gamer at all? I'd watch you stream pretty much anything. I think you've mentioned it some in other videos but I couldn't find it. Keep up the great content and I'll be looking forward to more!
I am a huge gamer. Lol. I used to stream on Twitch. Might get back to it someday!
in style, they can be brought to the specific Japanese style "Visual key"
You should definetly check out some Stuff from Saiseiga!
Very underrated Japanese Groove / Metalcore Band that needs way more attention.
I can recommend the Songs "Jumble" or "Hanabi"
As always great Reaction💪
Serious question: are all female musicians/artists in Korea models? I think this is a really good rock band and especially the singer, her voice is perfect for the type of music they play.
I don't know about the models thing, but RQ sure has a great production team!
All. Otherwise you won't get into show business
I like this band a lot play . I bought the mini cd. In a few years ago before they all colored their hair they covered Lady Gaga bad romance. Not really a Lady Gaga fan but they do that song well. Check it out
Recommend... in addition to RQ. (Using the video titles for easier search.)
[MV] BURSTERS(버스터즈) _ Barriers
[MV] Bursters(버스터즈) _ Lost Child
[M/V] Burningsoda (버닝소다) - Cutie Puppet
I get Christina Aguilera vibes , in tone and power. She's amazing.
yeah!
Liking this band, they're kinda somewhere between Vixen and Band-Maid.
You said Lady Gaga, they actually covered Bad Romance and even brought it to the concert
RQ also do a great cover of Lady Gaga's 'Always Remember Us This Way'. Jayoung 💛 on vocals 🎤 and keys 🎹 is excellent.
That is a Rock and Roll voice a la Janis Joplin. 🤩
They do a cover of a Lady GAGA song in their set.
Love RQ, just wished the mix wasn't so thin. This song would benefit from a little bit more weight.
Next Alip bata shallow please 🙏
DIH
Please look dan reaksi at Alif ba-ta cover (air suplay)
Synsnake is another K-rock band,...they are metal core
ellas hacen un cover de LADY GAGA
I like them but Band-Maid has kind of ruined me for female rock groups. The Warning to some extent as well. I expect more? Not to say they are bad at all. I liek them but they are just not to the level I really like.
They should stop worrying about how they look on camera and focus more on creating original songs.
Who said rock musicians shouldn't look good?
😚 *Promo SM*
I've never been a fan of Rolling Quartz, they're talented and cute, but they've always seemed a bit artificial to me.
You better check out the Korean girl band DIH, their music is raw and tight, but accessible, and they're pretty too.
They will blow you away live: DIH, "Break Out": ruclips.net/video/_oQvLjlKKhc/видео.htmlsi=ABSjGvlS2TeFnpYx 😲
And also they are good enough to cover Mr.
