    This is what I'm going to do, since I have no money to buy the Mavic 3. I will buy the props and then tell everybody that my drone flew away into the Ocean, right before I had the chance to install the props, and I am keeping them as a momentum.

    Bought a set of master air screw props for my phantom 4 once. Carefully followed all instructions double checked everything and my drone fell out of the sky 100’ up. The only drone crash I have ever had after hundreds of flight hours on phantoms. Never will I use a non DJI branded prop again.

    Purchased Master Airscrew STEALTH set for my DJI MAVIC 3 but after few months of usage were the propellers super tight which makes absolutely unwanted vibrations during the start of motors on the ground and vibrations (drone was dancing on the floor). Solution is very carefully and lightly unscrew/release each of the torx screw from the bottom side of propellers to get propellers again moving easily. In this way are original DJI propellers constructed in better way and more reliable...

    I really don't see nothing special about the master airscrew other than color, and a bit less noise? All that other crap about longer flying time and those other claims? I personally don't believe.
    I've been one that really don't like to use 3rd party accessories for any of my drones? Especially app's. I like to keep everything OEM. Maybe filters? That's the only 3rd party accessory I may change.
    Thanks for sharing Steve, it's been another awesome video, that I've enjoyed watching. Have a wonderful weekend, and till the next video. Happy flying 👍👍👍

    The battery power isn't fluctuating it's rate of use is. As drone spreads up it uses more power so less time remaining. As it slows down the drone uses less power so more time remaining.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 года назад +2

      Why DJI put this there amazes me since I've seen newbie pilots use it.
      This is a great way to misjudge remaining battery power. Just imagine if your fuel gauge in your car did that... you'd soon be stranded as it keeps going up and down. Many cars have a MPG average to show how your car is doing on mileage and it changes as you change speed/gears, and gives a caluculated distance until fill up.... but it is never accurate over a 5 minute period because it keeps changing which is why this is not used to accurately determine when you are out of fuel. This is pretty much what the UNTIL BATTERY DEPLETED does.

    Hi Steve, thank you for this test video. A test I do when testing a drone's propellers: Put the drone on a weight scale with original propellers, take a weight reading and then start (arm) the motors. Take another weight reading with the propellers spinning. Record the weight difference. Then do the same for the new propellers, like MAS propellers. Any difference in propeller lift efficiency can then be seen. Past testing of MAS propellers have shown increased lift compared to the standard props. BTW, MAS has lowered the price on their website for their Mavic 3 props.

  • @SunriseWaterMedia

    They look great! They do lower the pitch and my silly dB meter measures around 2 to 3 dB quieter.
    Other than that, at least from my tests, there aren't other reasons to switch to them. They don't give more flight time... I did several hover tests from 100 percent to 18 percent. Master Airscrew flew for less time. They usually do better, but for this model, I guess not.

    If you left the drone on for 5 min to get satellites that test was inaccurate. Air screw props have always been a gimmick . I like the colors but often start having a bad hover with their props. Once I received a prop error messsge. Other times the air screw props came with access plastic on them and it didn’t hover right from beginning. Stick with stock..

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 года назад +1

      You are missing a few things from the video. In order to get an accurate reading, all human input must not be present, hence the reason the readings of battery remaining percentage begin when the RTH is pressed and then when the drone lands the next reading is taken and simple subtraction gives the result. I will say that MAS has no shortage of happy customers. After market props have been around since the year 2013 for DJI drones.

  • @awake1563

    The time remaining is probably less "unreliable" than you think - rotorcraft are much more efficient above effective translational lift speed, which is why dji's max battery life tests are done around 20mph. So its not surprising at all that the time available goes up with a bit of airspeed. check your motor rpm's, they drop off as well. if you push it up past 30mph, efficiency does drop off again

      Unfortunately the HOVER tests are the worst tests on RUclips and always give incorrect, unrealistic results. This is why all drone companies advise that if you want to meet their battery flight times.... Don't do a hover test.

    • @ScorpioNick
      @ScorpioNick 2 года назад +4

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yes but if both sets are doing exactly the same thing, you are controlling for that variable. It simplifies the process and reduces the chance of operator error because it's more easily repeatable (consider rate of ascent in the beginning, for example - far less chance of variance if you're only going up 1 or 2 metres). You weren't going for maximum flight time under ideal conditions, you were trying to compare two sets in the _same_ conditions, which is extremely unlikely in an outdoor environment on separate flights. The only issue is if you suspect one set is better engineered for specifically hovering - say, indoors with wind controlled for.

    This was a really interesting test Steve!
    Irrespective of the pros of Master Airscrew propellers, I personally prefer the original DJI Propellers.
    Can't exactly define why, but I have never experienced even a single defect with DJI propellers yet, so I think that their is no need of spending some extra bucks to have those propellers, even though they are of 32 USD.
    3:08 First time? Lol😆
    It happens to me every time whenever I fly my Mini 2 at a high speed.
    Yesterday, I was flying at 57 kph on Mini 2 and the battery indicator was telling that 9 minutes are left for battery to deplete even though 80% charge was remaining, lol.
    Then, as soon as I stopped and started hovering for some pics, it directly jumped back to 21 minutes which is hilarious as always!
    In my opinion, both the propellers of both the brands performed well, and none of them were better.
    For DJI Propellers, I like their higher noise (I always like more noisy propellers, not gonna lie as listening to the voice brings satisfaction of zooming in high speed!) and also, as they are originally made by DJI, it makes me comfortable with them.
    On the other hand, Master Airscrew always comes up with superb propeller ideas with low noise which is preferred by majority.
    In case of RTH, Mavic 3's super precise landing always amaze me.
    I don't think so that the precision depends upon the propellers but more on the accuracy of GPS signals, so either of the propellers are good, according to me.
    12:14 I also prefer to fly in maximum spee possible many times with such GPS drone as it is just really fun, even the footage looks really cool at such high speeds!
    Afterall, I cannot choose one of the propellers on Mavic 3 as both are equally good!
    If someone wants to have some specific colour propellers, then he must go with MAS as they make different single colour propellers with many interesting features!
    I also have a feeling that you may be doing a giveaway of Mini 3 Pro, at the end of this month or the next month! B)
    Just kidding, Do whatever you like! :)

    Could it be that the battery monitoring is super accurate, reading temperature and voltage that varies in flight? You do get the same effect with any drone. I fly out to take photos of trains to the west. In Normal mode, I have one value for time remaining. In Sport mode I have a much lower value, sucking more juice per second of flight. I get out and put in Cine mode and I have all kinds of time. My alarm beeper for flight time goes off and I switch to Normal. Suddenly, my ability to Return to Home is iffy at best. I have returned with O% on the battery. Out hovering I have 12 minutes of flight time, then in Normal mode I have 6 to 8 minutes! The values do change in flight and do increase with changes in wind and temperature, sometimes increasing. I use a beeper alarm based on average minimum flight time, but still get caught occasionally when switching modes. Just FYI on battery time remaining. I have flown a Mavic 3, Club President's. He was very leary with my high speed passes and high approach to home flying, but that is normal for us, LOL.

      If GPS should shut off, then there is no auto return to home. It would blow with the wind and if one is a newbie pilot, it could be a total loss. This is why DJI makes most of their drones beginner proof... so that a beginner can't shut the GPS off. Normally you only lose GPS signal if flying indoors or under a large structure, or between large structures.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 года назад +3

      I'll have to make a video on this as so many misinformed people provide the WRONG answer. Here is the correct answer:
      If you have DJI CARE REFRESH you go fly your drone with props made out of stone from the 16th century and crash your drone. DJI CARE REFRESH is an insurance YOU paid for, thus you are entitled to a repair or replacement even if you are at fault.
      If you don't have DJI CARE REFRESH and only have the 12 month standard warranty, then that warranty only covers the drone to be free from no defects by using the gear that was included. If you change the controller, props, battery, etc, and the drone should crash due to such items, there is no repair warranty. However, 99.9% of pilots crash their drone due to PILOT ERROR and again there is NO WARRANTY for repair. If you can show the drone crashed on its own via flight data, or a DJI product was defective (i.e., a DJI Battery that melts or stops working in flight), then that is covered under warranty. DJI will never know if you have MASTER AIRSCREW props on your drone and you'd be foolish to tell them for the simple reason... If the drone crashes due to a problem with the drone, and you tell them you had 3rd party props, then DJI is going to void your warranty even if it was the drones fault for the crash (i.e., defective battery, gps unit, IMU unit, etc).

    Great lesson on the RTH/ time remaining with DJI software. I never thought about that but your totally right.
    Safest bet is fly manually, don't fly far and be sure to land around the 10% mark
    Also.... is mavic 3.... is it really this bad? LOL I know filthy casuals who have mavic 2 pro and say how much they love it then I tell them about this and they laugh.

      I own a Mavic 3 and wish I had picked the Mavic 2 pro or even a phantom 4 pro v2 simply for its ability to use third party tools for automated flights when mapping and doing photogrammetry.
      With that said it's still a passable mapping drone and a great camera drone.

    Chimera 7 vs this one which one you liked better ?

    • @POLARISFPV
      @POLARISFPV 2 года назад +1

      imo these are barely comparable drones. without a doubt the mavic 3 has a longer flight time and range. The Chimera 7 is an all manual Fpv drone so it wins in the enjoyment factor imo. There is nothing more enjoyable than flying an Fpv drone in Acro be it long range or freestyle. The mavic has cutting edge features like return to home and a 3 axis gimbal with a huge 4k+ camera, 360 obstacle sensing ect. in comparison the Chimera has a low latency digital or analog camera that is maximum 720p, no gimbal, no reliable return to home, no safety features except a fail safe that comes standard with beta flight drones. In summary it's all about what you want. Mavic 3 is a premium cinematic drone while the Chimera in a long range Fpv drone, it's significantly cheaper but it's also not a complete package. you'll require goggles and a remote as well as your own batteries and charger.

    Interesting test. But probably not really worth much extra cash. I'm curious about triple props though. Someone I know claims they work well in the wind (on a Mini 2). Have you ever tried them?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798  2 года назад +2

      Tri-blade props on a GPS Camera drone is kinda silly... no benefit. GPS drones are designed for beginner pilots, in that the drone does all the work. If you could shut the GPS off, then Tri-blade props would be beneficial. This is why in the FPV Drone hobby, tri-blade props are necessary for fast cornering & two bladed props are used for straight flying racing.

    They were slightly more pleasing to the ear. Going slower is more efficient than going fast in general. Yachts get 4 times the range going 8 knots than they get going 32 knots. So if you're running out of battery, don't think going into sport mode will make it more likely to get you home. Wonder if those props would affect the warranty. Good video Steve.

      The DJI WARRANT works like this:
      - If you have DJI CARE REFRESH, you could attach an Elephant to your drone and crash it and still claim the insurance of a repair or replacement drone.
      - If you ONLY have the 1 year warranty, and you crash, you would be foolish to tell DJI that you attached different props and a beer bottle to the drone as that would make them say it was your fault, so you pay for the repairs.
      Make sense?

      @@CAPTAINDRONE798 I have heard of some drones crashing when props came off in flight. But that's probably pilot error. I hit a wire a few weeks ago, and one prop was damaged on the tips. But it flew. It was pulling to the left, so I put on a new prop. It's possible some props would handle crashes better than others. But your right about prop by themselves not causing crashes.
