Playing Tactician, you can get the Ever Burn sword. Before entering the helm select Shadowheart Hit 'k' on the keyboard and change her spells. Add Bless and Command. Cast blessing on three party members. Use a restoration pod to restore spell slots. Then enter the helm. On Shadowheart's turn move her up to cast Command/Drop Weapon on Commander Zhalk. You get two tries to make him drop his weapon. If he drops it, run a party member to the Mindflayer/Zhalk fight and grab the dropped blade. Zhalk has 190 hp on Tactician vs. 150 hp on Balanced. He is killable but the Mindflayer needs to be lucky and hit often.
You do not have to be dragonborn when playing The Dark Urge. The Dark Urge lets you chose everything, race, class, you just get the origin story from this choice which is something between an origin character and the one created by yourself.
Oooo I had not realised you can choose another race as a Dark Urge! I just assumed it was like all the other origin characters. Thanks for the heads up!
Need a gentle hint: will you be able to encounter and recruit Dark Urge in the world the same way you can encounter and recruit Astarion, Gale, Karlach, Wyll, etc. in the world? Will I be able to "play" him without creating a new character based on him?
@PCGamingGoodies I’m not 100% sure, but I vaguely recall someone telling me it’s a unique story experience to play - so I assumed it’s only a playable experience if you create the character. I don’t think we will encounter a Dark Urge companion? Can someone here confirm?
So glad I stumbled on this playthrough. Halfway through the first episode and I'm already excited to watch the rest! If only there was a DOS2 playthrough on your channel as well, that game was incredible and I haven't found a playthrough for it I've liked yet.
I love your let's play!☺ It's already clear you are a really fun and really knowledgeable person. I'm super happy I clicked your series among the hundreds of these : D
You have a great voice for reading aloud. I think I'll follow you through this and see how you go. I'm from Australia and haven't played this through completely just yet but am looking forward to more. I loot everything as well so glad I am not alone there. Tactician seems a lot harder.
Thank you! It makes me feel so warm to hear that. I’m just across the ocean from you, in the Philippines :)) so timezone-wise we’re not very far. I hope you enjoy my playthrough, but gosh I hope you can experience it for yourself too! It’s such an amazing game to play and easily an instant favourite
I will, just that i doubt myself as to whether I can get that far after seeing how much more tricky it becomes. I'm used to games like Dragon Age and the combat is a bit easier. I'm in it for the story mainly. I also play d & d with my sons and my husband so I know the type of things that I can do. I get magic missiles.
There is an explorer mode in the game that focuses mainly on story. Combat is much easier than what I was doing, and it’s all D&D mechanics which you’re already familiar with! Gosh I can’t wait for my kids to be old enough to play with me too. Magic missile is my fav!
1:55:33 Be careful throwing potions at allies. You can actually damage them. Kinda sucks to try to heal somebody and you do nearly as much damage as you heal. Throw at the ground right next to their feet. Still works, no chance to damage your friend.
The fact that you took a good amount of time creating your character made me instantly sub. It's such a rich part of the game and it's a shame to blow past it.
The Bards perform skill is for in towns or where there are multiple NPCs around, you play the song and if you get a successful perform check, the NPCs can throw gold on the ground
After 3 playthroughs I am at this moment where I don't feel that much of an itch to play myself but I found myself enjoying watching other people play and react to my favorite moments. Your playthrough stands out not only because of the soothing voice but also you have this rare combination of someone who goes at it for the first time but ALSO knows what they are doing, having experienced Divinity nad TTRPG (as well as EA) so it's quite fun to see how you translate this experience into your own game.
Thank you! So nice to hear stuff like this from you guys. It was tricky to get the hang of, my D&D knowledge gets rusty when I don't play for a while, and my playtime in EA was very limited (I would say less than 10 hours and most of that was faffing about with my friends). Took a while to know what I was doing in Tactician! But I have eased in with the help of others
@@heyamarii I'm waiting anxiously for ps5 version. I'm planning Ranger Druid multiclass. Thanks for asking, I haven't been this hyped in a long time for a game.
Omgggg not long left!! Although this week is going to feel like the longest week ever for you! I have a few friends and my sister who have been bursting with excitement to play on console. Don’t get too spoiled watching my let’s play! I want you to enjoy the game with fresh eyes and the whimsy of discovery. That first look feeling, you can only ever have once, and you totally deserve that feeling for your Ranger Druid 🤍
Thanks. Nice to find someone else playing this that has a tabletop background, rather than purely video game. A lot of people don't understand the basic concept, instead they re-create themselves. I really hope this game encourages other studios to move away from open-world adventure games and towards more RP focused experiences. I think the only other game I've played that gets it right is Disco Elysium (which I highly recommend).
This might be the best game I’ve ever played, and I also hope it encourages more game studios to create more games that care about the characters and experiences. I can’t imagine what it took to create something like this; so many different paths you can take depending on your choices. Disco Elysium has been on my list to play for AGES. Maybe it’s time!
@@heyamarii It pains me to say it but I'm as old as D&D. I've played a lot of video games over the years and I know for a fact that developers find role-playing incredibly difficult to code. I truly believe amazing things are ahead for the genre. There's an interesting GDC talk by Ken Levine (Bioshock lead developer). It's about 50 minutes long and he starts by discusses the problems that studios have faced creating role-playing video games, then goes on to discuss solutions. If you're interested It's simply titled "Narrative Legos with Ken Levine". I think GameSpot re-uploaded it?? Disco Elysium is easily one of the best games I've ever played and I sincerely mean that. You pick some base attributes before starting the game and instead of creating a character, you form a personality as you play, by committing to certain characteristics and beliefs. It has no comparison.
I love watching these simply just to see all the interesting characters that people make. That chin stripe tattoo you were looking at and commenting on is what I’ll be giving my female drow shadow monk. Seems like a good fit for that class. Unfortunately I’m on Xbox, so I may have to wait until next year to actually start the game.
Larian went above and beyond with character creation! BG3 has one of the best customisation options in any game I’ve ever played. Yesss that chin stripe makeup is so fitting for someone that has a little darkness in them. It’s a pity you have to wait so long 😭
Just getting started here, it's fun watching someone who knows a little about the 5e ruleset, I'm old and my brain is stuck back on 2nd/3rd edition and Pathfinder
Welcome in! Having some 5e knowledge helped me tremendously, the game is so huge and felt so overwhelming to begin. If I didn’t have at least some idea of what to do, I would have been a total mess 😂 I’ve always wanted to try pathfinder! I see the games recommended to me on Steam
@@heyamarii I have spare copies of both Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous if you'd like? No obligations or anything. Bit slow responding, just moved house, always a fun and totally not stressful experience.
Moving is always the most fun 😂 take your time! Then spend the next 2 years unpacking. That’s so kind of you! I was thinking of trying it out towards the end of the year. I’m out the country right now, so hopefully when I get back I have a better idea of my schedule
I agree, Pet Pals had better story and utility in DoS1 than DoS2. So far, Speak with Animals in BG3 makes my heart feel so warm and soft. So worth picking it up
I am a programmer(video games) and I think the reason you could be hit from beneath when staning on that ledge has to do with the enemy AI/ pathfinding . When building navigation in games programmers often use tags on objects to inform their pathing algorithm which items/surfaces can be walked on, which ones is blocked and which ones are walkable but not prefered(fire, water, difficult terrain) I am not sure but Baldurs gate seem to use pathing for determining targeting and line of sight as well and it is possible the ledge you were on was marked as undesirable terrain/unreachable for the intellect devourer but not set as a blockade when it came to its attack line of sight. Hence the targeting from below. The ai basically thought you were on a place it couldnt reach/would need to traverse difficult terrain to reach if walking there and simultaneously it wasnt reading the ledge as blocking its attack line of sight. Thus the smart decision from the ais perspective was to fire an attack at you from where it stood. This make me doubt that players would be able to do the same thing to enemies.
We wouldn’t be able to see the gap AI can. I was so sure there wasn’t a gap but then some commenters said there was a clear gap. I watched the video again and I really don’t see one so thank your for your input and helping me not feel crazy! Haha I can’t fault the devs too much for missing a few things like this, the game is massive.
1:19 The game opens with you waking up from a deep sleep, which is, again, an homage to Planescape: Torment. Have you noticed that tons of games have used this homage? Doom (2016) opens with you waking up on an operating table in Mars. Sci-fi action games like Prey (2017) and System Shock (1994 and 2023) also open with you waking up from bed. Many games from all genres have done this as well -- so many that I lost count.
I've never played Planescape, but I do notice it a common beginning theme to many forms of media. A brand new day, a brand new life, a brand new adventure, new possibilities, opening your eyes as someone new.
I don't know how many people didn't know this but during my time in early access I would learn that you can in fact kill the devil captain and loot his never ending flaming great sword. You still can but they have a timer now and it makes it a bit more difficult. Still possible to kill all of them though.
The cambion on the Nautiloid? I only found out we could actually kill him after I played. I thought it was one of those “you better run instead of fight scenarios”
@heyamarii believe me I felt the same! But 20 characters in I think it was when they released the Barbarian class for early access that I said, "I feel like my character would attempt to kill everyone before crashing to his death." But I literally did after many attempts finally end every hostil in that area. And nothing happened. I got good loot but I'm glad full release does give you a sense of you need to do this or you will actually die.
It's actually far easier to equip the 'Command' spell on Shadowheart and politely ask him to frop his weapon and then pick it up. You quicksave right before and save scum it if you want. Plus, I think it was like a 55% chance on default difficulty
If you do a 4 player multi party and everyone plays a bard with a different chosen instrument, you can all play the same song, each playing their own part of the song, and the game syncs them together so it makes 1 cohesive song.
I need to do this! I’m sure we can function as a semi effective party of Bards - that is providing everyone actually does something and not just playing songs per round 😂
@@heyamarii There is a feat that makes people proficient with an instrument that would allow it too. Or, you could respec everyone in the party for a lark.
I'm glad to see this game being played by someone who's actually familiar with D&D5... but at least equip the Rapier and Leather Armour when you find it.
"TAKE YOUR BRAIN IT'S TIME TO GO/ YOU DON'T HAVE TOO FAR TO GO... REMEBER ME REMEMBER ME... CUZ I'M THE ONE WHO SET YOU FREE" The Action ( English band 68) use your melee weapons to save spell slots.
This game is amazing both solo and with friends - totally different experience with others! Just put someone in a Nautiloid pod, proceed to rescue them from pod = instant friend 😂
Haahhaass class I picked a half ling noble bard unruly child that ran away to join the circus deal but my highborn education actually comes good for the party in the end
1:51:21 Intellect Devourer shoots you through the floor you're standing on. "That's such BS". Probably. It seems you could do it too, so I guess that's fair. But, it looks solid so it visually tricked you, the player, into assuming it was full cover from attackers below but it didn't trick the AI so the AI enemies got an advantage. I think that's a bug. Sometimes things look solid when they aren't. In a place with a confusing maze of stairs and ledges and tunnels much later in this game, I saw a ledge high above my head that I couldn't figure out how to get to. So I cleverly clicked on it to see if my group would path there. It worked! They started marching and I followed them, right to a solid wall of rocks and my first character pathed right through it. The other three did not. The fight guy would not patth back through it either. I could not get them back together without a reload or using a waypoint. This game is huuuuuuge. The devs missed a few things. Reload is your friend. Even if you don't want to save scum, nobody would fault you for retrying something when the game tricks you with bugs and glitches.
I can’t fault the devs for some bugs considering how massive the game is. At least I do save often now, just in case something breaks. The line of sight gaps I can’t really see, like that intellectual devourer fight, but the AI can see it. It’s a surprise, and works against my strategy, but at the same time I can enjoy working my way out of it lol The pathing can be a blessing and a curse, at times the automated paths go through more trouble and difficult terrain that can be easily avoided. Other times they can lead you to areas you didn’t think accessible
Initially I thought it glitched, but now that mouse is totally dead. Over days the mouse kept messing up, not clicking then double clicking. It was minor at first, but yea I got a new one when I realized it was doing that
i got stuck at the intelect devourers for an embarassingly long amount of time on balanced mode... and they didnt have that synaptic shock ability they used! i had no idea what i was doing - which was even worse bc i was playing a ranged character and i didnt get the high ground :(
There are moments I’ve been stuck longer than I’m pretty sure everyone else has 😂 for everyone new to this game, there is a pretty big learning curve, even players who have some experience in D&D. So we’re all going to suck at the beginning 😂 did you eventually get your high ground in later fights?
@siobhannicolson5566 there are things I wished I knew sooner, like taking support abilities that buff or allow greater movement almost always turns the tide of battle over just high damage. Act 1 is tough! Low level, starter gear, few abilities, and you’re still getting the hang of the mechanics. You got this! Go grab some smoke power barrels if you can. Sometimes it’s positioning that saves the day, and sometimes we are just victims of bad dice rolls.
Already been a year since this game came out.. does not feel like a year 😭😭.. Do you have any plans doing another playthrough of this game anytime soon, with different race/class/etc??
I actually want to do an origin character. I’m almost done with my multiplayer run with others. I’ve never done a surge and I find it so hard to be evil 😂 I hate being mean to everyone
I took the dive after much fretting and went with Rogue! I'm an arcane trickster for now :3 Soo exciting.. but now that I've seen some of the heavy armor I soo am questioning my choices?? I envy your confidence in decision making. I feel like it took me twice as long x) I usually feel the same way about dark sight.. but the 'light' cantrip is 'until long rest' :) Edit-- Nevermind ahaha you took as long as me! Not with the class at least xD.. The hair color you chose is my natural hair color..rarely done right in games. There was previously stuff on that table.. where there are the runes that imply they contain vast amounts of Illithid research..I took them all.. they seem to be worthless :(
I’ve been chewing over the Bard Vs Warlock all day! What it came down to was that I thought about the first D&D game I played and it was a Bard! So that’s what I went with haha Heavy armour ALWAYS looks good in rpgs at higher levels. I’m rolling a Paladin with my group just for that! Yea the light cantrip.. but it takes a cantrip slot haha And yeaaa appearance takes me ages! I was just so blown away by the options. Larian really added way more appearance customisation than I thought they would. You have really beautiful hair colour then if I managed to pick yours! I wish my hair was that colour.
@@heyamarii My first play through was a cleric..but I really like shadowheart...so rogue was my second choice (my 'first' character truthfully, though it was 1 session of D&D1ed run via an old notebook and a...veryyy eccentric person xD) Bard was my 3rd choice, I was thinking Leliana style bard from Dragon Age..but knowing the class dialogue options that occur, and possibly quests.. I decided on rogue. For some reason a paladin does not interest me, unless they have the 'Mjolnir' perk with thunder elemental? I'll have to look into it The customization is amazing! and the characters all look so attractive xD very well chosen by Larian. I didn't used to like my hair color, but as I'm getting older and fearing losing it..lmao.. I do
Maker’s Breath! I love Dragon Age 🤍 Rogues are always a fun class in most rpgs, I tend to pick them most of the time when trying a new game. The appeal of the Paladin is really morality, since their divine abilities are strongly reliant on their alignment and adherence to their oath. Many times I find myself struggling between the “right choice” for me, and the “right choice” for my oath or God. The two are not necessarily the same so there is a greater magnitude to choices and actions
@@heyamarii Dragon Age is suchh a good IP..I never got around to playing the table top game, but the art and lore in the book is ammmmazingly awesome. I may try something like that in my next playthrough, a paladin\bard (I can confirm that multi-classing, even 1 level, unlocks the dialogue options :D).. it will be hard for me to not steal and back stab.. though probably more fun than trying to force myself to be evil I haven't had this much fun with an RPG since DA Origins released!
You removed your melee weapon on your main in the ship fight. If you see a fist as an attack option, that means you are unarmed for melee. Viscous Mockery is fine, but it's not meant as a continuous use damage spell. You use it to grant disadvantage and then do your normal attacks. It's too low damage to use as a "regular" attack.
Intellect devourer a) does not have eyes b) is using a psionic mind attack, line of sight is not an issue for them without cheating 😂 But gj doing that battle with only 2 chars on tactician righ after launch before it was reworked several times to make it less lethal 😮👍 ps. You can easily just skip that fight by going a different route (you can climb up right before them), not sure why everyone insist on taking that fight so early. Also , if you blow up the caustic tank and pool (they are walking over), you can instantly kill 2 of them if you are really lucky 🤓
Those intellectual devourers are still cheating 😂 I’m sticking to that story lol It was a really tough first fight after the tutorial in the Nautiloid. I hadn’t considered sneaking around them, but I will from now on! At least pick up Lae’zel or Astarion before taking them on. It’s so hard on tactician with just 2 characters! Very unforgiving
I'm kinda disappointed about was Larian has done to the class ability modifiers. Your chosen race, the half-elf, should get +2 Charisma, 2 x + 1 on any ability of choice and two extra skill proficiencies. Well I guess it is what it is and doesn't restrict people's choice of appearance and race based on modifiers.
We miss a lot of the bonuses from choosing different races, but I agree with you and think Larian may have chosen to forgo those so players choose a race for RP over stats. Or maybe for video game combat balance?
I’m trying to be real ballsy but will probably cry halfway through the game 😂😂 I play a bard often on tabletop, and I figured if I can do the most difficult setting on DOS 1&2, then I might be able to do BG3?? Maybe?? Just have ice cream ready for me when I have a mental breakdown XD
@@heyamarii I wanted to say the cry part 😅 but thought that would be mean 😅 well as long as you're having fun, we - you're audience - will also have fun watching 👍🏻
It will be fun regardless! I can’t waiiit to get deep into this game and really have more spells/abilities at my disposal. Im already so much in love with the story and mechanics are familiar enough for me I think I have a chance at tactician. Maybe haha positive thinking will carry me there!
@@heyamarii yes you'll do great 👍🏻 And this game is beyond superb and it shows in every moment! DOS 2 was the reason I fell in love with strategy RPGs ! Although I'm terrible at them 😂
Unfortunately it was my mouse :(( I replaced it once I figured out what was going on. I didn’t realise my mouse was double clicking at random moments which was so confusing for a while. I thought it was a game bug
53:16 "Insane that I'm succeeding on Arcana and Intelligence stuff." Not really. You also said you have a "very very low intelligence score." Not really. It's only low enough for a -1 penalty to skill checks. When you only need to roll a 10 and only have a -1 penalty, you have exactly a 50% chance of success. Saying "Insane that I'm succeeding on Arcana and Intelligence stuff" is a lot like saying 'Insane that I flipped a coin and got heads." Doing it two or three times in a row is lucky. Four of five times in a row is very lucky. Six or more in a row might be getting near "insane" (but only near, not fully there yet).
The character creator is the hardest part of the game tbh!! But you can always change it with respec and the mirror now. GOOOD CHOICE ON BARD!! The high charisma is fantastic for a first playthrough, and you can busk for coin :))
you don't help anyone in tactician during the fight. you speed to the helm, as the story wants you to. the mindflayer dies in 4-5 turns on this difficulty _every time_ and the devil commander has to much resistance and AC to down him in that time. so no cheesing the commander for a free magic sword. you actually run for your life as fast as you can. so yeah, I do love tactic mode
Yea it very much felt like a “you better get the hell out of here” scenario. It’s a fun teaching moment in game, that you are not meant to fight in all encounters. Especially in Avernus, those things are powerful beings
@@heyamarii yes exactly! I feel many RP fighting games are like this. I thought the same with "the witcher". on the lower difficulties you are basicly superman and force your way through everything. on the highest difficulty, the fights fel like they are supposed to feel and suddenly you understand why everyone is scared of those monsters. it is the same here in BG3. now the world is dangerous and enemies can use the same tactics you are using. if they are on a similar level, they also pose a similar threat. the fight in avernus is the best example: that dud was the commander of a devil army and you are a lvl 1 nobody. there should be no way in hell (literaly) that you can somehow beat him but when you don't play on tactical mode, you can.
Exactly! When I DM for D&D tabletop, I sometimes throw scenarios in like this. It’s interesting to see how players handle it; some will fight to the death, others are fully aware that there is no chance they can take on such a powerful being. Sometimes the best choice is to turn tail and come back later stronger and with equally powerful allies
At the time I thought it glitched. I didn’t realise that was when my mouse started slowly dying. It started double clicking and not clicking at all. It happened randomly and slowly so it took a few days before I really noticed. I have a new one now. BUT meeting the default guardian later was a nice surprise and not a bad look either
Level up. Please I hate it when people don't level up in games like this and then complain down the line. I know I haven't seen all of this but it happens often.
The bard wasn't terribly effective in combat. Probably would have been better off attacking most of the time. Helping the mindflayer probably wasn't great given how hard the enemy was hitting and probably how hard it was to hit
When I watched the video over again during edit I noticed the screen come up for a split second, but I really did not click more than once. So likely the creator screen got glitched or something? I’m unsure
Shouldn't have made your Intelligence your dump stat as a Bard. They have a lot of skills that they would bennefit from intelligence. If anything strength should have been the dump stat. Bards: Cha, Dex, Intelligence.
In tabletop yes, I wouldn’t have put so much into strength. But the game has so much jumping to make use of the environment for fights, I didn’t want to miss out on that too much and wasn’t sure the jump distance with a strength dump. Will tweak the build during respec when I get a feel for the stats abilities
Wow! Stumbled across this playthrough, and found a faceless playthrough. A voiced over playthrough, with a thumbnail face, and no face, and no reaction. Why does this appear on any feeds.

Kinda sucks to try to heal somebody and you do nearly as much damage as you heal.
Throw at the ground right next to their feet.
Still works, no chance to damage your friend.
So far I’ve been lucky! But I did hear later that I could end up hurting a companion tossing a healing potion at them 😂
That fight against the three intellect devourers was rough! Well done to pull through in the end.
It’s probably one of the hardest fights I’ve done because it’s so early in game! Very fun though
The fact that you took a good amount of time creating your character made me instantly sub. It's such a rich part of the game and it's a shame to blow past it.
Exactly! There is just so many wonderful options Larian put in. I don’t know what happened with my guardian, when I clicked it just skipped it 😭
17:47 that’s *amazing* (snatching this idea for my npcs Tysm!!!)
I watched a few documentaries that time to get his cadence down 😂
The Bards perform skill is for in towns or where there are multiple NPCs around, you play the song and if you get a successful perform check, the NPCs can throw gold on the ground
Once I figured out I could busk my way through Faerun, there was no stopping me 😂
Best line I have ever heard a player say: 'OMG I insulted it to death'. Great video and keep up the awesome work!!
The best bard spell. Maybe even best spell
The Intellect Devourer sighted you through the hole right there.
That sneaky little brain! I didn’t notice the hole 😭 failed my own perception check lol
"My tabletop fav is Bard"
...Subbed for both the class and fact you play tabletop.
Heck ya.
Bard is the best class 🤍 I’m excited I get to start a new tabletop campaign really soon
Glad I found your channel I'm planning on playing Tactician too. You have a pleasant voice, nice and chill to watch.
Welcome in! I’m happy that you’re enjoying my playthrough and can relax to it :)) what character did you roll?
@@heyamarii I've watched the first 2 hours about ten times that's all. This week will be agony literally can't wait.
But I will continue to watch as I go along.
It’s a pity you have to wait so long 😭
Only you can stop a dungeon fire, slay the wizard first.
Yay another Gale lover! This man charmed me from "it is to be avoided!" 😂
Gale is such a nice guy. He’s just so nice! And broken and I need to fix him 🥲🤍
@heyamarii Must successfully reunite him with his library and cat!
The voice actor did an amazing job as did the entire cast.
Psychic attacks (which is what the brains were using) don't need line of sight.

That’s so kind of you! I was thinking of trying it out towards the end of the year. I’m out the country right now, so hopefully when I get back I have a better idea of my schedule

Man, pet pal was so good in DoS1. In DoS2 I just found it super depressing. I think they did a great job of using animals in BG3 though.
I agree, Pet Pals had better story and utility in DoS1 than DoS2. So far, Speak with Animals in BG3 makes my heart feel so warm and soft. So worth picking it up

I LOVE this game so much more every time I switch it on. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
Love your divinity references.
Such a good game! I hope there will be more in the future
Unfortunately i can't play it myself. So i'm looking for let's plays. And yours seem the be fun. Also your voice is nice to listen to.
Let's go.
Let’s gooo! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it 🤍
Like watching your steam
This was a great video thank you. Don’t have time to play something like this myself.
It’s quite a long game! But very enjoyable and and satisfying to complete
YOOOO I want to try and kill him next time
Or just ask him kindly to drop that beautiful sword on the ground 😂
@@Turkeyfoot1990 that changes everything for me. I had completely forgotten about command. Ooooo 21 characters here I come
If you do a 4 player multi party and everyone plays a bard with a different chosen instrument, you can all play the same song, each playing their own part of the song, and the game syncs them together so it makes 1 cohesive song.
I need to do this! I’m sure we can function as a semi effective party of Bards - that is providing everyone actually does something and not just playing songs per round 😂
@@heyamarii There is a feat that makes people proficient with an instrument that would allow it too. Or, you could respec everyone in the party for a lark.
@spamfilter32 I’m tempted now lol I have enough instruments for all of us
that insult made that imp spasm like crazy!
😂😂😂 I wasn’t sure if it was a glitch or I had used some crazy spell for a moment there
Drow weapons amd armor do work above ground, they do start to deteriorate over time through
True! It happens very quickly though, so exposure to the sun will deteriorate it and could permanently remove the magical enhancement of the items

It’s a surprise, and works against my strategy, but at the same time I can enjoy working my way out of it lol
The pathing can be a blessing and a curse, at times the automated paths go through more trouble and difficult terrain that can be easily avoided. Other times they can lead you to areas you didn’t think accessible
Light cantrip seems better for me to see things than dark vision... lights up all around
Yea darkvision has been a bit disappointing for me :( I can barely see things still and after respecing Shadowheart I use Light now
42:19 It looks like you accidentally double-clicked the button and skipped the "who do you choose" aka the Guardian character creation
Initially I thought it glitched, but now that mouse is totally dead. Over days the mouse kept messing up, not clicking then double clicking. It was minor at first, but yea I got a new one when I realized it was doing that
@@heyamarii Well, at least the default Guardian's look is not bad at all :)
Silver lining: It was a nice surprise meeting the default!
Man I miss playing as a Bard it's so fun to play
The bard is be best! Even in my current playthrough, I’m constantly dreaming about my bard
@heyamarii ya I always pick the bard and then when I'm about level 5 I pick the Paladin
I have yet to play a Paladin 🤔 hmmm gives me an idea for my evil playthrough. A Paladin that falls from grace (cries for future evil I must commit)
i got stuck at the intelect devourers for an embarassingly long amount of time on balanced mode... and they didnt have that synaptic shock ability they used! i had no idea what i was doing - which was even worse bc i was playing a ranged character and i didnt get the high ground :(
There are moments I’ve been stuck longer than I’m pretty sure everyone else has 😂 for everyone new to this game, there is a pretty big learning curve, even players who have some experience in D&D. So we’re all going to suck at the beginning 😂 did you eventually get your high ground in later fights?
@@heyamarii oh definetly started to get my high ground - im still on act one (and have restarted the druid grove like 3 times 😭😭😭)
I'm visiting my parents and I'm absolutely JONESING to play and this is the only thing getting me by till I can get home 😭
This is how I feel every time I head to work 😂 I don’t know how you’re not exploding into pieces!
I remember old school Tasha's Hideous Laughter was Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter. As an aside you're very easy to listen to.
The old spell name was much more epic!
im so glad you play not explorer... cant watch this epxlorer runs... even balanced is very easy, looking forward to see all of it :)
The best way to play the game!
I'm an arcane trickster for now :3
Soo exciting.. but now that I've seen some of the heavy armor I soo am questioning my choices?? I envy your confidence in decision making. I feel like it took me twice as long x)
I usually feel the same way about dark sight.. but the 'light' cantrip is 'until long rest' :)
Edit-- Nevermind ahaha you took as long as me!
So that’s what I went with haha
Heavy armour ALWAYS looks good in rpgs at higher levels. I’m rolling a Paladin with my group just for that!
Yea the light cantrip.. but it takes a cantrip slot haha
And yeaaa appearance takes me ages! I was just so blown away by the options. Larian really added way more appearance customisation than I thought they would. You have really beautiful hair colour then if I managed to pick yours! I wish my hair was that colour.
@@heyamarii My first play through was a cleric..but I really like shadowheart...so rogue was my second choice (my 'first' character truthfully, though it was 1 session of D&D1ed run via an old notebook and a...veryyy eccentric person xD)
Bard was my 3rd choice, I was thinking Leliana style bard from Dragon Age..but knowing the class dialogue options that occur, and possibly quests.. I decided on rogue.
For some reason a paladin does not interest me, unless they have the 'Mjolnir' perk with thunder elemental? I'll have to look into it
The customization is amazing! and the characters all look so attractive xD
very well chosen by Larian.
I didn't used to like my hair color, but as I'm getting older and fearing losing it..lmao.. I do
Maker’s Breath! I love Dragon Age 🤍
Rogues are always a fun class in most rpgs, I tend to pick them most of the time when trying a new game.
I may try something like that in my next playthrough, a paladin\bard (I can confirm that multi-classing, even 1 level, unlocks the dialogue options :D).. it will be hard for me to not steal and back stab.. though probably more fun than trying to force myself to be evil
I haven't had this much fun with an RPG since DA Origins released!
Random but you've got such a lovely voice! I feel like you could do audiobooks or voiceovers or something haha.
Thank you! I wish I could do audiobooks, that would be fun
Intellect devourer a) does not have eyes b) is using a psionic mind attack, line of sight is not an issue for them without cheating 😂
But gj doing that battle with only 2 chars on tactician righ after launch before it was reworked several times to make it less lethal 😮👍
ps. You can easily just skip that fight by going a different route (you can climb up right before them), not sure why everyone insist on taking that fight so early. Also , if you blow up the caustic tank and pool (they are walking over), you can instantly kill 2 of them if you are really lucky 🤓
Those intellectual devourers are still cheating 😂 I’m sticking to that story lol
It was a really tough first fight after the tutorial in the Nautiloid. I hadn’t considered sneaking around them, but I will from now on! At least pick up Lae’zel or Astarion before taking them on. It’s so hard on tactician with just 2 characters! Very unforgiving
You forgot subraces. Two of the gnomes have darkvision.
You’re right! Ive never played a svirfneblin, didn’t appeal to me personally but it’s cool to have the option to

Question. Does Tactician turn off Karmic Dice?
I’m actually not sure 🤔 I’ve never checked. I should turn it off if it is on for “true randomness”
53:16 "Insane that I'm succeeding on Arcana and Intelligence stuff."
Not really.
You also said you have a "very very low intelligence score."
Not really.
It's only low enough for a -1 penalty to skill checks.
When you only need to roll a 10 and only have a -1 penalty, you have exactly a 50% chance of success.
Saying "Insane that I'm succeeding on Arcana and Intelligence stuff" is a lot like saying 'Insane that I flipped a coin and got heads."
Doing it two or three times in a row is lucky. Four of five times in a row is very lucky. Six or more in a row might be getting near "insane" (but only near, not fully there yet).
Im struggling to make my character lol
Actually thinking of bard to since I saw u choose a instrument and I play violin in real life and love voilin lol

@@heyamarii I like the bard! But I have a lot of time to watch some streams though lol. Looking foward to your videos!
You forgot the change skill proficiencies.
you don't help anyone in tactician during the fight. you speed to the helm, as the story wants you to. the mindflayer dies in 4-5 turns on this difficulty _every time_ and the devil commander has to much resistance and AC to down him in that time.
so no cheesing the commander for a free magic sword. you actually run for your life as fast as you can.
so yeah, I do love tactic mode
Did they double click past the second creation?
At the time I thought it glitched. I didn’t realise that was when my mouse started slowly dying. It started double clicking and not clicking at all. It happened randomly and slowly so it took a few days before I really noticed. I have a new one now. BUT meeting the default guardian later was a nice surprise and not a bad look either
Hey Amarii.
Hey there!
Level up. Please I hate it when people don't level up in games like this and then complain down the line. I know I haven't seen all of this but it happens often.
I love 😘
Baldur’s Gate 3!!
22:53 * cries in british *
😂😂
The bard wasn't terribly effective in combat. Probably would have been better off attacking most of the time.
Helping the mindflayer probably wasn't great given how hard the enemy was hitting and probably how hard it was to hit
Just watching I already want a 'loot everything in sight' button
I second that! Would be so much easier to clean up after a fight
did u spam click past ur guardian coz u could see that the creator came up for it... but then skip to the start if the game
I don’t recall clicking more than once, so unsure why it skipped the other creator screen. Oh well! Our little friend will be a nice surprise
When I watched the video over again during edit I noticed the screen come up for a split second, but I really did not click more than once. So likely the creator screen got glitched or something? I’m unsure
@1:55 it's like watching that birthing video they forced us to watch in sex ed in 7th grade 😉
Accurate 😂
Shouldn't have made your Intelligence your dump stat as a Bard. They have a lot of skills that they would bennefit from intelligence. If anything strength should have been the dump stat. Bards: Cha, Dex, Intelligence.
In tabletop yes, I wouldn’t have put so much into strength. But the game has so much jumping to make use of the environment for fights, I didn’t want to miss out on that too much and wasn’t sure the jump distance with a strength dump. Will tweak the build during respec when I get a feel for the stats abilities
Thsnks for giving me company at the gym whith the cardio, with your buff monkey. Good shit 😅
