    This has forever been one of my favorite videos that you have made. This one and the follow up. The vulnerability in your follow up vid really hit home for me and had me see I wasn't the only fat kid who wasn't really eating but was being told by folks that I was eating too much. I still agree with the whole rant video too! 😊

    Totally agree. Another body positive area which I am experiencing is age. Being Elderly its so apparent and experienced to me everyday. Thank you for your voice from a Crone.

      Aging is ABSOLUTELY one part of body positivity we don't talk enough about.... and if we're lucky it happens to all of us. Accessibility is something we hopefully will all need and I hope to talk more about it and aging in future vids

      @@darlagoddesshate Two things can be true at the same time. Fat people face prejudice from health care providers which in return is bad for their health. But huge amounts of viszeral fat are bad for one's health on its own. That's not abelist. Diabeled people work their butt off in physical therapy just to regain a bit of mobility.

    • @Emihasdreamstoo
      @Emihasdreamstoo 2 месяца назад

      If you really care about health, you'd mention health every time you see someone smoke a cigarette. But the deal is: you don't care about strangers' health. You mention health because it's the only way you can safely argue against fat people's existence, without looking like you hate us. But you do. Have a lovely day and do think about your own biases. After all, even a cigarette user dies about 10 years earlier than the avarage life expectancy

    • @Emihasdreamstoo
      @Emihasdreamstoo 2 месяца назад

      @@johanna2690 But the deal is: literally no one cares about whether being fat is healthy. We aren't a marginalized group just because society is, oh so generous, and cares a lot about its members' health. We are a marginalized group because eugenicists decided that fat is an African, Chinese, and a Jewish feature: only later did they argue about fat being unhealthy.
      People don't bring up health because they're concerned: they just straight up hate the way we look. We know it: they either pretend like they don't, or they just lie to themselves.
      Do I think fatphobia is always ableist by nature? No, but it very often is. And regardless, constantly bringing up health to a disabled person is pretty ableist... Because disabilities don't automatically mean that someone must suffer, and that they can't live a fulfilling live. Disabilities aren't the problem: ableist people, lack of access to good healthcare, and inaccessibility are.
      So whether it's a disabled person or a fat person: don't f*cking act like you're doing a good deed when you remind someone of how unhealthy you think they are. You aren't a health care professional: mine actually said that I'm healthy-- And maybe I'll develop a disease due to my fat later, but that's not today. After all, you wouldn't say that a young cigarette smoker has lung cancer, when they literally aren't at that point yet. So mind your business and quit acting like you guys are saints and care about us

    It's kinda of crazing the original video got so much hate. It's so very inclusive in away that I STILL don't hear a lot of people say and you said it all 8 years ago. I would have been 14-15 when the original video came out and I only wish I had seen it then. Maybe I've been living under a rock since 2019, I deleted most social media except for YT, but I feel like I never see body positivity talked about this way especially for men or for people who have disabilities. I just watched the original video for the first time and then came back and watched this one, and TBH I don't think there's anything in there that doesn't hold up. As someone who's always been fat even when I was 14 - 15 these are the type of words and thoughts I feel like would have helped me understand more on how to love myself and I wouldn't be struggling so much today. I actually found you because I was googling the best couches for fat people and found your blog/website, then saw you had a YT. I am excited to continue to watch you speak and create more videos and I thank you from the deepest parts of my heart for creating the content you do.

    I almost left a community I'm part of recently for discourse over how weightloss is entirely personal and people should feel free to talk about it in 'body positive' spaces. It is refreshing to see at least one fat liberationist who has not abandoned their principles in the last few years. Honestly I feel pretty down about things right now.

    Appreciate adding disabled folks to the list of folks who need to be included in body positivity. And yeah. This is kind of depressing how this video would have been so negatively received 8 years ago and here we are with tons of "body positive" influencers pursuing weight loss. Progress feels like such a hamster wheel. I'm glad to have your voice back on RUclips, hard as it must be with all the gross trolls and fatphobes on here. ❤️

    Still a good video! I’m sooooooo fucking tired of being told that I need to lose weight… the world thinks that I must be THIN TO BE HAPPY, or wear nice, sexy clothes or even be SEEN IN PUBLIC! Like, it’s ok the be “body positive” but ONLY if you are trying to loose weight.. or simply change your body to fit what the media tells us is what we should look like!! When I’m watching a “body positive” blogger who then wants to talk about diets and how they want to change their body to fit mainstream media idea of perfection. How can you be body positive but not like your body? I don’t get that idea.. so, you are attempting to sell me drugs to get thin? Are you fucking kidding me? I then go down the rabbit hole of maybe I’m really NOT good enough as I am.. this influencer who has said all along that I should love myself at any size is NOW telling me “ love yourself at any size BUT you need to be on a weight loss journey as well because I’m not good enough as I am UNLESS I’m trying to loose weight. So, body positivity is ok ONLY if you are on the weight loss plan? WTF? You just flipped the switch on me! I thought we were good as we are? THIS MAKES ME CRAZY!! People! STOP. Influencers, STOP DOING THIS! Too many people see this and believe this shit! We are ok just the way we are! Right now, in this moment, I am fat from 30 years of prescribed steroid use because I have Systemic Lupus.. I have a disability. I Am PERFECT. Right here, right now .. I don’t need to change. I am perfection in this body that I’m living in. Do NOT try to sell me your idea that you are body positive and then tell me in the next sentence that I need to lose weight. If you love your body, as It is, then why change it? I don’t give a fuck if you do but don’t call it body positivity.. call it what it is, “ The Im gonna pretend to be ok with this body until I can change it” movement.
