Here in Denmark you never see Semi/straight trucks in fields, not for silage either. Always tractors and carts. New thing is they use semi fixed lanes to avoid compaction on the rest of the field.

It appears that the new combine can overwhelm the support vehicles.

I was going to say at the beginning of the show why would you have an x9 with that kind of capacity? Why would it even be an option to have a small hopper on it? Come on John Deere

That X9 looks so cool with those monster tires.

That combine should be able to hold atleast 600 bushel since it can pick corn so fast

Thanks for the real life perspective of getting a new to you combine running.
If you consider pneumatic tires like a ballon, pressing outward, then the ground contact pressure will be similar to the tire inflation pressure.
The absolute best part of this video was the little boy splashing in the mud puddle.

I asked in a video before (I think the x9 video) i had asked if you think if you would ever consider upgrading to maybe a 2500 bushel grain cart, do you think that your trucking capacity/workers is a big general factor why you maybe wouldnt/would upgrade the cart?

why not move that full sensor down a hole or two if your Dad is constantly spilling ???? it can always be moved back after the extension is put on

Silage is lot higher moisture not the type of thing you would auger.

The software is probably different for different heads. So they don't want you installing the wrong version. Easy fix to stop the spillage. Lower the sensor lol

I wonder if a concept like the tribine couldn't take off on some larger capacity combines to deal with the hopper size issue. AF11/CR11 is claimed at 8k bushels an hour already, and even the biggest combines on the market only come with ~500 bushel hoppers from the factory.

29:40 you can fold the auger in the hopper without folding the hopper itself. this function is present in this combine - it is the auger service mode. it is activated in the green star monitor

The more I hear from farmers about John Deere and their designs and of course the dreaded software updates I just SMH. LOL a 400 bushel tank on an X9??? Critical software updates have to be installed by a dealer rep??? Yeah, great system JD. Great harvest footage . I think the Lenny and Lucky puddle party still takes the win in this video though....:) Brought me back to when our 4 were still that age. We had 3 Golden Retrievers when the kids were all still young. Looking back, what a combination. Talk about a wild house, the dogs encouraged the kids and vice-versa. Great times!!! Thanks for the updates Andy.

  • @CaryGuyer

First off, why do you still have bean residue on your feeder house if you switched over to corn. Secondly, I know many people who have installed that very same tank extension and have had no problems, that is as long as it was installed properly. Theirs don't look the same as yours after install. What's with the excess extension canvas just extending past the fold joints?

Sounds like you old man’s becoming a liability

There's only one big time farmtuber on here that I know of that uses just their tractor trailers for grain harvest straight out of the combine. Everyone else uses a cart of some sort for grain, corn or soybean harvest. For blackbeans it's straight into the truck or a dump cart & only one farmtuber is doing some blackbeans. Ground compaction is why you see people ripshank or deep VT even in lighter soils.

You also have a small windows to get the silage harvested at optimum moisture. If it's too wet, the silage can become toxic and make the animals sick. If it gets too dry, the silage will not ferment properly and make low quality feed, plus you run a huge risk of fire.

If you have the semi capacity/ grain handling capacity for it maybe.. but I’ve heard and I’m sure he says you’re asking a lot out of a 1000 to get anywhere close to 7-8k…

    • @Beyonder8335
      @Beyonder8335 9 часов назад

In that ballpark but that relies on you having the trucking power to keep up, and usually manufacturers will based those ratings off basically perfect conditions.

They didn't close down the iowa plant. Tractors and combines aren't going anywhere they're just moving the skid steer and track loader line to mexico.

If beans are going right back into a bin that you just swept out, why can't you let the bin sweep clean bin the best it can and then go right back in with beans ?

it's all about control, that's why right to repair is so important. Sadly I'm a Deere fan(having multiple family members that have retired from deere ( Central Iowa )) but I can still recognize a B.S. practice when I see one. I get proprietary technology and all but COME ON I'm not spending $50,000 to $500,000 even $1,000,000 and not not have the right or ability to wrench on or modify said piece of equipment !!!

    Hey Andy
    Hmmm
It’s certainly going down the strange path eh
    That dumb ladder,the bin extension drama,folding update/get some updates-don’t get some🤷‍♂️
But the weirdest thing was that crap stuck in the back!
The previous owner clearly never cared about it and I guess that’s his right as owner. But been sold in that state says 1/ your new JD dealer isn’t checking the gear over pre sale or didn’t care either just found that well, useless!
My parents had a dairy farm and a dealership with Case.My father would have been disgusted if he found out a machine was sold like that but then again he would have checked. He also said nothing get more attention then a customer buying elsewhere!
    But that ladder!!
