I love basing in astroids. Sadly many servers delete these grids, I'm excited for more incentive to use and mine them, maybe hide ships around them. People don't do enough with astroids in vanilla. Can't believe planets have been around for like 5 years now, seems like such a new thing still to me.

I commented on another channel a month or 2 ago my discovery that rotating decoys along a windmill like structure can confuse ai and make the decoy last a lot longer, I wonder if maybe someone else has discovered this or maybe I was the inspiration for this person's ship which seems to employ the concept in it's most basic form. It's better if you add another set of rotors on either end and use 4 decoys instead of 2 so that each decoy makes a path of constant overlapping ovals that eventually form the greater circle, the faster the rotation, the further the decoys throw the ai off. When I was testing it I discovered nesting more than 2 windmills like this has no additional benefits but both rocket launchers and turrets will fire several blocks wide of the windmill and only rarely hit their target giving you over a minute to sit there and tear them apart. Not as effective on small grids.
The Star destroyer you were looking at is called a Victory class. It has been around for quite a while, they primarily use missile tubes on the sides. The Victory 2 class that replaced the got rid of said missile tubes for more conventional Star Wars turbo lasers.
The star destroyer is based on the Victory II, due to the flatter and removed missile pods and the antenna placed vertical instead of horizontal with the ship.
Oh god, watching this really hurt... Forget enforcing projectors and subgrids, you need to start enforcing all that Conveyor Junction spam! That alone with destroy most servers performance!

I am asking because I would very much like to join this server, but am fairly new to the game and have a schedule that would not permit significant playtime on the daily, and don't want to see myself build a lot of stuff and come back and find it wrecked.

How does one get involved in a large server like this. Id love to learn more about Space Engineers, but Id need a group that doesnt mind me sciencing constantly. I only learn by doing. U can give me all the info in the world unless I try it for myself it dont make sense in a permanent manner.
its actually fairly easy, for this server you join the discord and theirs a special area that tells you how to join, and ik at least 1 faction is always looking for players. i also think the faction TNT would actually accept that mindset knowing how they are.

Victory II have solid sides. This one clearly has flaps. Front recess randomly appear or disappear between models on both types, so it can be ignored.
