I bought x30 and I'm loving every bit of it. Unfortunately here in Australia I couldn't get green colour, I'm kind of disappointed. Quite an adventurous son ❤️

I had an old Nikon D200 that had the same issue once and I found by adding a small piece of felt in with the battery it worked. It had to be in just the right spot. I did that for years :-) Great hiking location and great you take your son and he enjoys it. I get adults that are a bit dramatic on hikes on the rare occasion I bring anyone along.

Understandable but I am pretty sure both will please equally in their own way. For what it's worth, I prefer green. The zipper pulls really add something to the shell color and texture.
I have been enjoying your videos over the past few weeks as I have been deciding which new bag to purchase. At some point in the future I would love to visit Japan and photograph some of your country for myself. I see on many of your alpine hikes that there seem to be what I would call hostels with food and lodging at or near the peaks. Is this common across the country? are they difficult for those of use that don't speak or read Japanese to navigate?
Hi, the lodges are all over Japan through out the mountains. There are different levels of them and also different grades of accommodations. It changes from hut to hut. Most offer private room or dorm style. Generally easier the access is better equipped (and cheaper) it is. You do not need to speak or read Japanese. I am not saying there will not be any moments of stress due to language but it is more than possible to pull it off. You just need to carry cash and book ahead for the best chances at success. People are very friendly and helpful when you need a hand. With that said, language basics or app/book will help a lot. The biggest trouble is faded and weather worn trail signs, for that you should hope for some luck but also prepare as much a head of time. It can get confusing. With that said I've never gotten lost summer hiking. As a tourist, you're likely going to visit the more commonly accessed places, which IMO are usually quite easy stay on course. Commonly accessed doesn't mean easy though and they are just as nice as the lesser accessed locations.
Hi Ian, Nice video, well explained. Your son is very cute. Your tripod looks very compact and light weight. If you don't mind could you please tell which tripod and remote trigger you use. My tripod is very bulky and heavy. I want to use something small and light which goes with E25. Thanks in advance.
I had planned to mount my GoPro there for some hiking perspectives. But I did not end up doing it... the boy alway takes up my mental space and leads me to forgetting to do things :)
Hey Ian, I got my Explorer v2 yesterday and I love it. a quick question: is there a easy way to remove the torso strap? And if i do it the hard way, can i put it back later to the shoulder straps?
Hi Robert, as with textiles and also zippers... it's more about the amount of sweat or water than a blanket yes or or no. The pack are not waterproof and an extensive amount of moisture can penetrate. Adding pressure will speed up the process. And of-course it also depends on each user and how much they sweat.

In the US and EU they go by a different name Beringia beringia.world/blogs/news/beringia-launches-in-north-america - the jacket I am wearing in the video is the Tsurugi Lite. On the Beringia website they only have the Tsurugi 2.0 listed (Feb 20/22). The 2.0 is the winter version. I have both and the difference is a looser fit, cuffs and different hood cut. Materials may be different too as they just upgraded many of their shells. I think they may just have the winter stuff listed right now. Might be worth emailing them via the website. I have a few of these and wear them very often all seasons. I love them. - Ian

Hi, yes they have power but keep in mind it's generator based and likely not the power what you might be used too. Also the lights turn off at 8pm (or close too it), so you need to make sure you're charged up before the lights go out as everything is shut down. It's worth bringing more the one smaller charger and cable set up if your worried. Also if you're shooting the golden hours, let them know as it often conflicts with dinner service. Dinner there is super simple but if you let them they might keep it warm for your when you get back... Have fun. When are you going, is it open yet? Also wifi or data reception is not good in the hut, dinning room seems the strongest.

I wouldn't consider this elegant solution and would have never purchased small mirrorless if I realized that if has zipper on the wrong side. I wanted to gain more access in TOP compartment vs standard mirrorless, while not loosing side access. Great bag, but this is major downside. Looking forward to v3!
@@StovalBox The S-ML Core Unit is primarily designed for the 25 series packs. On it's side, the height becomes too short to be functional in the 30L bag. Unfortunately we can't make a prefect solution for every use case scenario within 1 product. Physical size creates limitations.
Came for the backpack, stayed for the father and son moments. That's the right way to teach the little man to appreciate the outdoors.👏🏼

It is non removable, if removed it's permanent.
Also assuming you mean the Sternum Strap.
With zippers against your back, does sweat get in the bag?
I may do a 30+ day Camino de Santiago in the summer.
