Saw them in 1996 on Randall's Island, had never heard them before and was an instant fan. Saw them for the second time in May of this year - it was a fun concert - they let me forget all life's crap for a while and let me dance like no one's watching.
In those shots where they show the crowd, how are those people just standing there? The energy that this band puts into their music should have that audience going nuts. I LOVE Rusted Root!! Been listening to them since around '96 when I was introduced to them while working in Yellowstone NP and they are one of my all-time favorites! They get me so pumped up! I'd love to see them live at least once in my life
It was a free show at an arts festival,so a lot of non-fans. I was already missing the days when they'd only play for 300 people, but 295 of them were dancing. Whether I was shooting video, or running lights for them I would take at least two songs off to dance.
What an amazing band! It was complete Mayham with people dancing their asses off early on ‘93, when seeing shows in Pittsburgh clubs. The music was almost tribal with heavy percussion and driving rhythms. Dancers would be covered in sweat from head to toe. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
Big Hand struck me down so consistently effectively as to eventually awaken within me its apparent and directly affecting tendencies at reminding me of the obvious...by which, as suggested, I simply lick from the wounds and find essential need for food and creative love, following which, as I am to gather, others will only come to themselves abide by such painfully-applied methods of learned experience...leading, over time, to Peace and further Understanding overall - which sounds all well and good, provided Big Hand restrains "its" own ability to be - how should I say - a bit less dominant to the process utilized in relaying, effectively enough, a message conveyed well enough, by now, as to sink-in with an ever-growing appreciation for potential sensitivity displayed on "its" behalf, as well as others, through which Love abides accordingly?
It seemed like she would come and go in the band. Her name is Jen Wertz and is a musician/artist herself. She reappeared on the 2002 album, welcome to my party. I always loved The dynamic she brought to the band with Liz and Michael singing.
gotta love how some people think creative love is either redundant or oxymoron these people need education on contraceptives, and sexually transmitted diseases
Greatest underrated band of the 90's.
Can not believe it has been twenty years now with them in my life. Love them so much!!!!

I've seen them twice. They are great in concert.
