My names pretty weird. TyQuria. Ty from my dad Tyrone because I'm the first born. The Qu from a woman named Queenie who helped my mom a lot during the pregnancy, and the Ra the fit it all together. But the Ria is part of my legal name because my dad actually spelled my name wrong so instead of TyQura it's legally TyQuria. Ty-Cure-ra.

I have lately been seeing a lot of relationships where someone under 22 is dating guys in their thirties and wonder what is the mentality is between the younger person and the older person. I think love is love but can't help but think about it.

I was supposed to be named after my mother but a month before I was due my dad decided he didn't like that. Therefore, my mom sat on the couch and watched the TV show "True life" and there was a girl name Amaya and she really liked that name. My mom is known for wanting to be different, all of my sisters have different names too, so she didn't want to go with that spelling. On American Idol, there was a contestant name Amya and she liked that spelling, so my name ended up being Amaya spelled Amya.

My Name is derived from my Mother's name. Her name is Ramona, which was followed by her nickname, Monina. She only changed one letter to create my name, Monica. So I'm named after her.

My parents were expecting a daughter so they originally had the name Audrey prepared, but when I was born they were surprised to find out I was actually a boy LOL. So they just talked a bit and remembered that one of their favorite TV shows had a kid named Alex in it, so they named me Alexander

When my mom was in labor at the hospital my dad kept on saying "breath- Breath, honey" to help distract her from the pain. One of the doctors walked in while the baby birthing process was at play and said "what do you want your child's name to be?" My dad disregarded the questions, still yelling "BREATH". The doctor soon left the room thinking he heard the name "R-E-I-D"; When I was born, the doctor came in again and said do you want it spelled "Reed or Reid". My mom and dad looked at each other confused. The doctor repeated himself telling us he must of misheard the name accidently. My mom looked at my dad for a quick second, and repeated the word "Reid" ,that's it! Both looking back at the doctor in compliance, "Reid; it's Perfect!"
Not much of a story behind my name. I got my first name, "Carmen" from my dad's mom and my middle name, "Irene" from my mom's mom. I am the first daughter in the family, so I got the honor of being named after them. There are three other girls and two older brothers. Hey, I have an idea for a short series. Have you guys ever been interested in your heritage? I got mine done through AncestryDNA. It's a powerful thing to have. Now, my mom is waiting on her results. Before I did this test, I knew I was Mexican and Finnish. What I didn't know is that my full heritage is European, Native American, African, and Asian. I was surprised at the African and Asian. Growing up, I was always told by one of my brothers that I was adopted because of my eye shape and I didn't look like an of my siblings nor my parents. For the longest time, I believed him. I was surprised at the African and Asian. My dad is a full Mexican and my mom was always told that she was a little bit of everything with half being Finnish. So I was wondering if that would be something that you would maybe think about doing in the future because it tells you different areas of where your ancestors may have come from. I was surely surprised and got my mom interested in what all it is that she is from. Also, siblings who have similar heritage but wouldn't be 100% the same.
It was cool cause I saw a video here on RUclips where there were identical twins or triplets tested from different companies like Ancestry where the results were pretty shocking! Anyways, sorry for the long comment but I am just curious to hear what you guys think about it. Especially with all the hate going around right now, perhaps it's something that should go around so people know that they're different but it's okay, one should still treat others with respect and love.

I was supposed to be named after my father, Bernardo AND my mother, Angelita. My name the whole time my mom was pregnant was Bernard-Angelo Ilagan Venua, but then I was born and while signing the birth certificate, they realized they would have to teach a 4 year old how to spell this name. They took away Bernard-Angelo and took Brian from a book.
My whole family has the name "Catherine" and everyone wanted me to be called Kate but my mom was a rebel and named me Kitty. Everyone was pissed. They even spelled it differently than it is normal in my country (they spell it "Kitti"), so all I remember from my childhood is getting mad at people for not spelling my name correctly (It is still one of my pet peeves).
How I got my name : My brothers both had their names from the bible and my grandmother from my mum's side (Filipino) was kind of annoyed lol so she just went "name her Jessica." And the rest is history 🌚

My name has a religious significance and Filipino significance. There was a statue called the Black Nazarene which was a statue of Jesus. On January 9 (my birthday) the statue was brought to the Philippines, which ended up being rumored to cure diseases by touch. So my parents decided to name me Christine in honor of that. And they named me Theresa as well for my middle name after Mother Teresa and Therese of Lisieux.

My parents named me Angela because they were like "angel-a", we'll have such a great kid, which isn't too far off from the actual meaning of the name. I think they also got it from some book of names. But then, they realized there were a LOT of little asian Angelas running around. My dad hated how I wasn't "unique" enough, so when I was 3, they went to court to legally change my name to Patricia. And that's been my name ever since.

Story where my name came from. I asked my mom one day what the meaning is and she said she got it from the Bible! Since my whole family are Christians! Also my English assignment was to find the origin of my name which I found out that it's a type of Hebrew tree! I asked the same about my Korean name and... same response! 😂😂😂 I think it was last year, I finally found what my Korean name means from one of my friends and coincidentally, when Buzzfeed did a video on the origin of their names for Asian Pacific American Awareness Month one of them had the same Korean name as me!
