12:44. This guy had the original Alexa in 96 lol.. what a great week for me, no school, hours of sledding.. was this the year those apex sport team jackets with the front pocket were in style? Omg, they were starter jackets
I remember that blizzard was living in Oxford, PA. Secondary roads were scary took us about a week to dig out snow blowing everywhere. Luckily the guy in the next farm area brought his plow down the 3 mile driveway. Still so grateful for him
I was 7 when this happened. Sister was 5 and has a terrible time navigating in the snow and my dad and neighbors worked on shovelling off the roof of houses. I recall my dad having the only truck that was able to get out of our area. Good times.
I was living in Reading on the 1100 block of North 6th Street. The house I grew up in. I was 30 yrs old . This 96 storm gave me a intense hatred of snow and shoveling it.. The snow was above my waist. I remember trying to keep up with it. I gave up and went to bed. I even had to shovel my porch covered with a awning. You had 3 days to shovel out your car and the city had backhoes helping. They carted snow away in dump trucks and dumped the snow in playgrounds. And we only had houses on one side of the street on North 6th St. I always parked my car on that side of the street. At least we had some extra space to dump snow. A friend walked a mile to come and help me. About 5yrs before this storm my dad had heat tape installed on all of the house roof areas. Turkey hill at 5th n spring Reading was sold out of everything.
I had to deliver papers through that, couldn't even get close to the houses. Apparently the Herald expected me to sprout wings and fly house to house cuz they eventually fired me.
I was about the same age living in Mohrsville(practically the same snow outfit) and i sure loved carving out snow tunnels! though i'm sure it was a real shock for the rest of my family who grew up in west coast orange groves.
I'm from Bucks county and I remember this storm as a kid, it was awesome. I made such a kick ass igloo from the pile my dad shoveled. Spent a lot of time chillin in there.
On January 5th I reported to Bethany Children's Home for a short juvenile sentence (90 days), and rest assured, I shoveled what felt like a billion inches of Womelsdorf snow that Sunday through the week. I will safely say, though, that some other peers that were there snuck cigs back from their weekends at home and the snow provided enough cover for us to smoke them without getting caught.
I DO REMEMBER THE BLIZZARD OF 96 AS IF IT WAS YESTERDAY. I WAS AT WORK AT THE HOSPITAL NEUMANN MEDICAL CENTER IN FISHTOWN. NOT ONLY THE STORM. BUT THE MILITARY WHO HELPED ME WITH GETTING STAFF HOME AS WELL OF GETTING STAFF TO THE HOSPITAL. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE THE MILITARY I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HOSPITAL WOULD OF DONE WITHOUT THEM NOW THE YEAR 2024 I LIKE TO SAY. THANK YOU ALL AND THEM SOME. My dad went out to Berkshire Mall during this. Before anyone asks why, he said he was going insane sitting at home
I was 8 months pregnant (I was 18) and enjoyed every second of this blizzard. It's one of my core memories, because I absolutely LOVED IT.
Best storm ever
Twice, LOL! I love you!
Hi 👋😂
(11:45) The most radically 90s jacket I've ever seen!
My first thought too...thanks, Mom 🤣

We lived in Pottstown for this one, but I lived on 17 1/2 st off cotton for 1983 and it took us a week to shovel out.
