This was another killer video! Thank you guys. The BB sounds great, but I honestly thought it was part of the universal line; happy that it was a special creation for DCP. Like the finish, it’s almost kind of matte like. BTW - I have a Turkish crash ride and love it.

One of my absolute favorite snare sounds is a brass snare in higher tuning. This one is beautiful!! And the kit,,,,Amazing! Why does Ludwig have to be so much!!! This was amazing. My favorite video in a while.

Man -- beautiful overtones mixed with such phatness in the low tuning, and still phat with that CRACK in medium and high. Gorgeous. Digging those Turkish cymbals as well.

It’s really a nice snare, but I would buy the 8 lug 14x5 instead. That tuned low must be the beast.

Very cool looking snare. I understand that many people love tube lugs, but I've never been a huge fan of the look. I think would have looked incredible with Imperial lugs, but maybe that's just me.

I love wood hoops, but I’ve found Ayotte were the best. Very unique sound. Wood hoops tuned up for jazz, are exceptionally tonal!! Coated heads, of course 😉

1. Black screws and washers internally on the lugs.

Between the sound and looks, this has to be the ultimate Black Beauty. Maybe it's the diecast hoops (which I've never seen on a Black Beauty before) but it's the best sounding one I've ever heard. The rest of the drums and cymbals sounded magnificent as well.

Dan, there is a Black Beauty model called Brass-on-Brass. Brass lugs and die-cast hoops. I think the other poster was mentioning that some BBs have come with cast hoops. Most don’t, but some do.
I really wish they would have blacked out the imperial lugs instead. Especially at this price. They make a difference in sound and looks. This reminds me of a Tama.

I've had a Black Beauty snare drum on order for a year and a half through GC. The longest backorder I've ever experienced. Theres no way Ludwig hasn't made one in that long, and this video helps to confirm that though. It's just frustrating and I had to vent. Thanks

Brass snares aren’t really my thing, but I like this one in the higher tuning. I’ve also got Remo black suede heads on my drums, and they are fantastic. I’m a little surprised I don’t see them used more
This might sound crazy, but these drumsets are priced very reasonably compared to the SQ2's, Masterworks & Tama Stars. These sound and look awesome. Got that Craviotto look & vibe at a fraction of the price. Nice going DCP. Is that a Premier set in the back-ground.... cheeky 😀

This thing would be perfect for a drummer in an established band that wants to emphasize a high end image.

There was already a Black Magic, which has all of the same, and looks, and sounds better in my opinion. I´m the proud owner of 10 x mostly vintage snare drums, two of which are Black Beauties, a 1978 Black Beauty Super Sensitive, and a 1988 Black Beauty (Bronze). I also own a Ludwig Black Magic, which is my go too snare for gigs, and touring. I only use my Black Beauties for the studio. What´s the price on this new Blackest Beauty?
I'm not a huge fan of the black beauty....frankly I think it's overpriced for what it is. But, this sounds nice....ESPECIALLY with those die-cast hoops. REALLY nice "crack" it in the higher tuning. One of the few drums that I think I could get away with playing some funk with. It's very tough to cover both of those categories. With that kit....I'd like to hear you do another take with them with the toms a bit higher in the mix. You're 110% spot on with the lack of presence, and "flappy-ness" of wood hoop kits (Ayotte's were notorious for that). That's one of the reasons I never bought one. They record beautifully, but they don't "play" like that....ZERO presence and attack. IMO, as far as this demo goes, I think the PDP kit classic wood-hoop kit sounds better than these. It's off topic, but I wonder how a Tama Star wood-hoop kit would sound...I don't think Tama's capable of making a drum with no presence or projection...😁 Ok, I'm rambling...LOL. GREAT snare, and very nice kit, that I think could be recorded better. Very cool demo as always. P.S. I've got my first purchase with you guys coming soon, with a Dunnett! 👍
