Oz I'd like to say thank you very straightforward very informative and I found a dent on the side of my truck where I drunk driver drove me off the road into a ditch and that pin connector was rubbing the bumper and exactly the same place thank you so much I am a single dad who doesn't have a lot of money and I have a 2000 Ford F250 and I really appreciate your time and doing that video
Big help for me. I am new to auto diagnosis and am trying to learn. I learned today that you can't assume that a fuse is bad if it doesn't pass your test light test. Some fuses only work when the key is on. I learned that here. Thank you.
Can tell they drove it like that for a while before the wire rubbed through and shorted out. Great job on showing the diagnostic approach. Show people how it's really done. Yes the damage is obvious but you still have to go through the process. Showing people the right way will save them from making the wrong call. Hey Oz, you can also use a 12 volt test light instead of the fuse if you got a helper, if not use a 12 volt buzzer instead of the fuse. As long as the short is there the light will be lit or the buzzer will buzz. Then you can unplug connectors, and wiggle wires etc until you find where the short is.

Easiest way to all fuses is using a multimeter set to ohms(beep) go across each on if it beeps its good. Cut off that pig tail and make a test light, next time use the pig tail test light, remove bad fuse and install pig tail, it will be lit if you have a short to ground, then start unplugging connectors if light goes out your on the right path.
I got something wrong with my truck taillights too !!🤦♂️ every time I put on a new fuse it blows basically instantly and my brake lights and running lights don’t work but my reverse light and turn signals work 🤷♂️
Mines the opposite... rear driver side ɓlinker works for a bit on the road than suddenly I get the rapid blinker and only my rear driver side blinker doesn't work the bulbs are all new as well. Ford Flex problems...
Of all the videos I've searched on how to find a shorted circuit in my truck, yours I understand. Ihave a question though _ my fuse doesn't blow until I put the vehicle into gear. I.E. my ECC1 fuse, is lit on both ides, with ignition on, using the same probe to test it. , I'm thinking to continue as you did, knowingits the fuse that pops.
Very good video. You're quite the detective. I was trying to find a loose connection in the trailer wiring, on my 2002 Tundra, because I'm getting no brake light, or real dim left brake and blinker on my trailer. I tested the truck with a plug in tester and found it'd in the truck. So I started unravelling tape and wires and checking connections. I replaced almost all connections, and got nothing. Now my dash and heater fan fuse keeps blowing. Any suggestions?

Just got this 2000 f450. Fixed the same fuse when I first bought the truck and just popped again the other night. Shut down my dash lights and my trailer running lights along with my truck running lights. One of the wires running to a small light on my dump bed is disconnected hanging loose. I'm sure that's it. Thanks
Randomly my headlights stopped working, kinda scared because they won’t then back on 😬 gotta figure it out hopefully this is it 🤷🏽♂️ had some rats in the bay becuase I hadn’t driven it in a while and I’m really hoping there is nothing more than a Fuze
2017 Rav4 XLE AWD same story on this end, BATTERY JUMPED BACKWARDS (I know). Both fuse boxes with blown fuses. Right hand side fuse box facing the vehicle with a few blown fuses 10A,20A (already replaced). Left hand side relay/fuse box with the HTR 50A blown. When I try to installation a new 50A as soon it touches the pins/terminals the fuse blown again (already try 3new fuses and same issue. AC NOT WORKING no air coming out of the vents (hot or cold). Any suggestions? And thanks in advance

Great video, but I will just never get electrical. What's your thoughts on my problem may I ask. My 2007 civic keeps blowing the smaller 10a fuse for my blower motor. When I change the fuse the blower works 100% for a bit. But if I stop the car for a bit and start again it instantly blows the fuse but not every time? On Acura MDX 2002 My rear windshield wiper keeps popping a fuse and my SrS light came on after we changed the fuse, I'm not sure if the mechanic pulled out another fuse but then did put it back and checked all the fuses and replaced them but the problem persists, can you help please?
Does anyone know if the inside cabin fuses should light up test light when done this way ? They don't and pretty much checked them all . The fuses under the steering wheel inside cabin and yes , I've tested it to make sure it works including checking the fuses under the hood in the engine compartment and those light up .

@@krishh4694 Just a short, that will need to be isolated somehow like he did here. He was lucky that there was a dent, usually it could be anywhere on the wiring harness where it touches the body frame (grounded) or even a faulty switch that grounds itself when using the knob.

SOMEONE HELP! Trying to help coworker find a short. His 1995 camry XLE v6 has no power to radio, clock, overhead light. 20 AMP "Dome" fuse Blows immediately. I am trying to help him get a new radio installed but am stuck until we find the short. I jumped a wire where the fuse goes(very quickly) and the radio came on. I have no fracking idea where to even begin looking. Does anyone have any advice.
Hey OZ. I have a 99 Honda Civic sedan. Bought it a month ago. Drive fine for that month. Then I went to start it one morning and it would start. Cranks but won't start. It does have a oil leak. When I turn it on the battery light comes in and the oil light comes on also. The battery is fine. Dont know what it could be. Any suggestions? I've heard these car don't start if they're low on oil. There is oil in the car tho up to the first dot. Thanks .

Best thing I can say is to use a test light and get a wiring diagram to trace down the issue. It’s just hard to say without looking at it. But question do you have trailer lights on the back
2000 suburban 1500 5.3 my fuse to my car lighter immediately pops I could careless about car cigarette lighter now I can't read my codes it worked 5 days ago came today blowing fuses wtf ? Any ideas ?
@@OzMechanics diagnosed how? I used my multi meter to test it and got like 0.14 volts but then I took that fuse and swapped it in a different spot and it got the 12 volts so I'm not sure where to go with this information

Easiest way to all fuses is using a multimeter set to ohms(beep) go across each on if it beeps its good. When there we're not tail lights was the dash also not illuminated?!
This is most likely as the power distribution goes to all of them, one short kills parking lights & cluster illumination.
@@scientist100 the “Parking LPS” fuse goes to my Gauge light, parking tail lights, & my license plate light. (1988-1994 C1500)

Could be different issues. Shorted wire, shorted part, high resistance causing a drag

You would need a wiring diagram to verify what wire would cause it to pop. Do you have any reputable shops around you ?

What do you mean when you say locked ?
@@OzMechanics I turn on AC and blows out as normal minus cold air but when I look at the compressor it’s not engaging or spinning

DaFuhk for a car to start it need 3 things. Spark, fuel and compression. Look to see if it has those. I have other videos that show how to check that
Check to see if oil is leaking by the crankshaft sensor, oil could also be getting in the connector causing your no start.
Try to listen if the fuel pump is kicking on. These have a main relay that go bad as well
