18:45 The pub that was there was an old 2-storey building. A fire in the 90s took out the top floor, so they ran it as a pub for some years after with no real roof. I think they just waterproofed the old floor.
8:37 Our AFE depot was down at the end of that block on the corner of Stanley Street. It was once a wool store and you could see the worn tracks in the floor where the carts would go through the building to Quay which is now a set of apartments. I also found an old double bale hook in the rafters. I think I still have it somewhere.
Back...way back, we were contracted to move all the furniture etc from the old Govt building to the new one behind your left shoulder. That was a fun few days. EDIT: They constructed it in those bricks and colours to compliment the City Hall building.
I remember when the School of Arts was at risk of being demolished due to its poor state of repair. There was an uproar, and so, it was decided to restore it to its former glory.
