Very nice sounds and it shows what the Q is capable of. I'm the proud owner of a Q Phoenix 32-voice. Almost no 32-voice versions are available. It is a true exotic synth. It sounds thin, digital, aggressive, lush, wide, warm and FAT...in other words it's a miracle piece ! I would not say it doesn't come close to the XT because the XT sounds very different. The advance of the Q is that it combines Wavetables (XT) and VA !
@@mezz3036 I catch your drift. However, I did buy an XTK 30 voice last spring. And oooh, it is the perfect companion to the Q... I think both synths will become sought after synths in the near future. Because they are true 'exotics' capable of very specific sounds. Both are direct ancestors of the PPG Wave 2.2...
my leopardgekkocouple like waldorf too - the pulse 2 and the blofeld a really great playzone for both hrhrhr - best greetz from austria and thx a lot for the famous upload niguel
Such a brilliant video, loved some of those sounds. I’ve just got my first Waldorf an iridium desktop and I love it so much. One day I’ll get a Q and an XT ;) used to have a leopard gecko, didn’t realise how well they go with the Q colours 😂
Nord Lead 2 has a panic button combination, Virus TI as well, quite useful since sequencers sometimes fail to send Note OFF messages. Definitely happened to me in the past.
Nice. I remember panic buttons in early music software but never really noticed them on hardware. The power button or brute force was good enough for me :)
I have a Nord Rack 2 and it appears stuck in Arp mode - when I press notes its always Arpeggiated.. i used another Rack 2 before and it wasent stuck in Arp mode.. Any idea how to reset this or turn it off completely?
I bought one new, So much better that the JP-8000. Hahaha...I still have it. loving the random lizard. At the time I had a random child crawl across my synths. I still have it.
Nice demo Miguel. I own the Q-rack as well, but don't use it very often because the endless rotary knobs don't work properly: the values in the display don't match with what I do. Quite frustrating. After getting no support from Waldorf or my retailer, I bought a software editor from another manufacturer ... and this was widely known to not work either as it turned out later. Too bad Waldorf didn't make some editor-software for their hardware stuff themselves. But I still love my Microwave2 and Blofeld: I think no other synth has that special sound.
@@halfblind9860 Both (as far as can remember it is more then 2 years since I used it). I've read a tip&trick a while ago that you should turn the knobs a few times "back and forth". Tried it and it helped indeed, but the next time I switched the Qrack on, the problem was there again.
Ah that's a shame. I've heard about this encoder issue before. Would you consider selling it? I don't know if I could fix it but I'd at least give a shot for a good price.
I repaired the Encoder of my Korg M3, it always jumped, sometimes in the opposite direction (when turned slowly): I removed the cap (it flew avay, that was a bit scary, but no harm done) and then I applied a small amount of "Teslanol Kontakt Spray" onto the bare Axis (I am not a 100% sure, it could also have been WD-40). After the liquid had sunk in, I waited for a few minutes, then I turned the enc (a bit wild) for a few minutes and (all with the synth off). Later, with the synth on, the enc performed already better. I did additional turns until I was satisfied. This was about 1 year ago, and it has not worsened since. In case of the M3 (and others, I guess), the encoder has to be intact. Some encoders are broken inside, that needs a repair then.
Beautiful sounds but I'll stick to my XT 😊 The XT also have the same panic button. Thank you for sharing and congrats on this acquisition. Gigi seems to like it too. Phone number is probably in a catalog somewhere 🐦
It sounds like a lot of these patches are custom. Would you be interested in selling a sysex dump of the patches?. Thank you for your time and awesome video 🤘
The cute gecko exits stage left in search of a Waldorf Wave...and a tasty bug.

I sold my XTK because it sounded dated (16 bit) I kind of regret it but I would sell it again any day over my Q. The Q stays forever.

The thing that amazes me with the Q is how well it manages high frequency spectrum content. Even by today’s standards

Many if not most of the sounds shown are factory patches. The initials are from the names of the programmers.

I love the Q. I have the microQ. Saving for a Q. Nice Monaco :)
Nord modular has a panic button. Nice videos 😀

Do the encoders not match what's on the display or do they just not work at changing the parameters?

I also love my XT, would like to try this Q. Actual Waldorf are lesser than the 90´s ones.
Thank you Michael.
Agree. I also prefer my XT
@@falangistavaleroso9689 No way, the Iridium and Quantum are fantastic heirs of the Q and Xt

Actually those suffixes DK HM S jh T ugh WMF SKY are part of the factory soundsets 2000 & 2001.
Maybe factory presets sound designers?
Brilliant. Thank you.
Right, they are for the sound programmers
Why are you only playing with one patch? Apply 4 then you will see what it can do. I have XT and Q - both are equally good.
Like to check single patches first - actually these are all just from bank A
Stacking 4 creates lovely sound walls.
Great... Now I want one 😅
BTW, a NON-Nextel version...!!
It sounds like a lot of these patches are custom. Would you be interested in selling a sysex dump of the patches?. Thank you for your time and awesome video 🤘
Thank you. I’ll see if I can do a sysex dump : Not interested in selling. I’ll give them for free
Sounds great! Lemme know
I thought that lizard was some CGI for a minute.... what kind of lizard? some sort of gecko?
Leopard gecko :)
lol the usual suspects - dsp emulation ....
Micro Q emulation is all fine and dandy but it doesn't sound like this. The software is emulated but the hardware is not. Sounds good tho
