You were very right. I just want to add that devotion to Krishna or any deity doesn't mean duality, but it is seen as the Supreme Consciousness itself manifesting as God and the devotee and the devotee whilst being devoted also sees his absolute oneness with his ideal i.e. Krishna and so the separation though apparent ceases to exist and the devotion becomes an eternal natural act which transcends life and death and eventually one attains to the deathless.
