I don’t understand how every album is so different from each other yet so together. They have shown so much growth since 2006 and it’s incredible. It’s like an older brother who you would look up to that would always go out and have crazy stories to tell about how much trouble they got themselves into and now your both older and your brother has settled down and learned and has life experience that he still shares with you. Thank you Monkeys, thank you for coming back when we needed you most.
they performed this song live when I went to their concert in Brooklyn. I started crying during this song because I was so proud of them. I couldn’t wait for them to finally release this song and now it sounds even more beautiful each time i listen to it
As a fan, I don't even care if arctic monkeys don't get the appreciation they deserve. And neither do they care about it. They are doing what they love and feel like doing which as a fan I totally respect. I always listen to their music not with the expectation of what I want, but with the curiosity of knowing about what artistic world the monkeys have webbed for us. Even if I am the last person who appreciates the legends from Sheffield who turned the music industry, it would still be worth every second that I have listened to their music. AM forever🖤
most of us have been listening to this band since 2006. It's been at least 16 years. I was around that age when I got to know that the Arctic Monkeys were going to be my favourite band for a long time. We're not teenagers anymore. We've all aged. This new album proves it, they've evolved, and so have we. I love to feel we're growing old as a generation and this sound is a proof of that fact. Cheers to all of us.
Every direction, every era, every thing they craft is amazing. This is still Arctic Monkeys. They've grown, they've reinvented themselves again and again. They're the same kids from sheffield, but different age. It's a pleasure to grow with them, to explore, to be able to take this in. This is already my fav AM song at the moment. Can't wait for whatever else is instore. Masterpiece after masterpiece
This isn't Arctic Monkeys, but a very posh snobbish version of what Arctic Monkeys used to be. If it were a parody of them saying how famous and rich they've become, sure, but like it says in the lyrics, they're just going along with it (I'm keeping on my costume and calling it a writing tool) and that's boring. This is music for people who love to be rich and famous, and drivel in shitty taste to express their wealth. It's decadent.
@@DarkAngelEU What do you expect him to do, write about being a teenager in Sheffield? Sadly people age and with it their circumstances, outlook on life and lifestyle usually changes. He is writing about what is relevant to him now like he wrote what was relevant to him then. He has wealth and fame but he still sees everything with a poets eye like he always has.
@@DarkAngelEU interesting observation. But perhaps body paint could be referring to remnants of his old musical self from his present perspective. And the costume is referring to how his old self may have seen him now. I don't necessarily think that he's making this type of music to parody himself but instead acknowledging that it may have seemed that way to himself in the past. It also seems like this pivot in creative direction has been coming for a long time especially if you listen to the heavy orchestral feel of the last shadow puppets.
Roghttt, me too!! I found out about them a while ago but I never payed much attention but now that I’m really trying to find new music I’m in love with this band🤞
Did u listen to fire and the thud, the jewelers hands, dance little liar, don't forget whose legs you're on? I love the mood those songs have. Definitely one of the best songs I listened (especially the jewelers hands)
This song is so good that it makes me cry. Listening to it with a half-open window on a rainy day makes really everything peaceful. I love your albums so much, thank you for writing this song.
This is best listened to..headphones on loud.. eyes shut tight...don't bother with the video it means nothing.. you have to listen..its a poem ..a love song
I can say this is a highest level of an art combining a song with the music video (also TBBAM mv). Shout out to the cinematic visuals that is undeniably entertaining, and of course, the Arctic Monkeys itself. Enjoy it while it lasts baby, it has been such a joy to live in their era ❤️❤️
It is right that Turner doesn't have the video direction in this videoclip (like the other first, for this seventh album). But, I wanna believe that Body paint shows us some Turner's ideas about the cinema.
@@danturner9843 yea you can tell mr Turner is into cinematographies now and it is inevitable because there is a glimpse of that during their Tranquility Base era. For me, the structure and variation of melodies of this song fits brilliantly with the mv.
They've changed their style with every new album they've released. And every album they've released has been a magnum opus in its own right. Their journey from old-school guitar rock to gorgeous, graceful ballads like this song and Mirrorball is truly something to behold. They're one of the greatest bands out there today (second only to Alvvays). Brilliant stuff.
This was so perfect in the concert!!! They even had the strings section and it sounded exactly like the studio version ..even better I'd say! Especially coz of the extended outro ..that was insane !! Absolute genius band ..and Alex Turner! What a talented man!!
Esta canción es una obra maestra, tanto musicalmente cómo visualmente! Enserio los monos son geniales en cualquier estilo, la voz de Alex es maravillosa en este tema.
It’s like the perfect mix between David Bowie and the Beatles it’s just incredible. The cinematography, the lyrics, his voice, the instruments it’s literally just PERFECT. Thank you for this. ❤️
Arctic Monkeys has this incredible talent of making you fall in love slowly with a song I feel. It never truly hits you on first listen, but when you listen to it more you're absolutely hooked on the layered beauty behind it. This composition reminds me a lot of The Beatles, the non-linearity of it and the separate sections of melody that somehow still maintains this new album vibe. That middle drop of orchestra section is such a Penny Lane/A Day in the Life throwback!
Kendrick is like this as well, as are a lot of the best songwriters. You'll just be like "I'm not sure about this" and before you know it, you're in love with it. Although I liked Body Paint from the start more than anything they've done in awhile. You can tell this is a great live song!
I don't know much about these Monkeys! To me this is a mixture of Bowie crooning with Beatles song structure & strings, with little originality. OK though! 😊
This new album probably won't be super popular, but this is exactly the sound and style that rock music needs right now. It harkens back to rock's golden days in the 70s without simply rehashing the past, and uses grainy 70s visuals in a way that feels new and original. Thank you guys for not resting on your laurels.
The Arctic Monkeys are a great example of a band that has aged really well. Not all the bands are capable of this, some tend to go pop, which is ok. But the intention of being original, to propose something different, is just an act of bravery.
@@maisierobinson7451 Fair I see what you are saying, but the songwriting from this band has always been amazing, I never expected them to be garbage pop sounding. I even like/love AM (album).
Going pop isn't a bad thing and I'd argue that Arctic has gone pop since AM, a lot of bands stay true to their genre but they don't change overtime which leads to stagnation, and it's ok but adapting to the times and being in change just like these lads is waaay better
Oasis always screamed their claim to the mantle of The Beatles. Arctic Monkeys whispered it to us all through growth and constant reinvention. Visceral poetry.

I remember when Tranquility base hotel & casino came out in 2018, and I was blown away by how incredible this unique style is. And now after these 4 years, I'm not disappointed, I would wait a million years for art like this, keep up the good work!

It’s like an older brother who you would look up to that would always go out and have crazy stories to tell about how much trouble they got themselves into and now your both older and your brother has settled down and learned and has life experience that he still shares with you. Thank you Monkeys, thank you for coming back when we needed you most.
so true.
I don't know, this kinda reminds me of the last album they made. For the most part I agree though, they do try to make each album feel different.
@@logiclunacy606 its has traces but its not same. Tbhc was much more spacey, this is harsher yet softer at the time. Definetely a very different vibe.
they performed this song live when I went to their concert in Brooklyn. I started crying during this song because I was so proud of them.
I couldn’t wait for them to finally release this song and now it sounds even more beautiful each time i listen to it
yes, you´re right :)
AM forever🖤
Yeah I can go with that, but it would be cool to have a new album with the early stuff vibe.
Totally agree
for that there has to be a new, young and innocent group. its not the almost 40-year-old‘s job anymore to make adolescent music

most of us have been listening to this band since 2006. Cheers to all of us.
well said mate
Lovely comment "we're all growing older as a generation" is a great way to put it. Much love brother x
spot on
Same thing Renzo. Been a fan since 2006, loved them at 18 with WPSIATWIN and love them at 35 with these new sounds.
You captured it perfectly! I could not agree more!
It’s shite.
It also seems like this pivot in creative direction has been coming for a long time especially if you listen to the heavy orchestral feel of the last shadow puppets.
epic
Quickly starting to fall in love with the artic monkeys and this song is one of the big reasons why

For me, the structure and variation of melodies of this song fits brilliantly with the mv.
this music video is truly a cinematic masterpiece. they’re so talented that it hurts
Best song in the disc by far.
Most original, creative and amazing videoclip I've seen in a very long time.
Truly, this is a joy to the senses.
My FAVORITE artic monkeys song so far
They've changed their style with every new album they've released. And every album they've released has been a magnum opus in its own right. Their journey from old-school guitar rock to gorgeous, graceful ballads like this song and Mirrorball is truly something to behold. They're one of the greatest bands out there today (second only to Alvvays). Brilliant stuff.
Always?
This is exactly the same as TBHAC
I wouldn't say every album they've made has been a magnum opus considering I think some of them are just mediocre.
@@andycodd8096 alvvays, amazing band

Beatles + Bowie exactly what I thought 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
This was so perfect in the concert!!! They even had the strings section and it sounded exactly like the studio version ..even better I'd say! Especially coz of the extended outro ..that was insane !!

Esta canción es una obra maestra, tanto musicalmente cómo visualmente! Enserio los monos son geniales en cualquier estilo, la voz de Alex es maravillosa en este tema.

I wasn't sold on this song to begin with, nearly 2 weeks later and I can't get it out of my head 😂
That’s EXACTLY what i’m feeling
Thought exactly the same!! Reminds me a bit of eleanor rigby as well. For sure that’s an influence for alex turner
I don't know much about these Monkeys!
To me this is a mixture of Bowie crooning with Beatles song structure & strings, with little originality.
OK though! 😊

Here one year later after having this song as my no.1 song in my Spotify wrapped. And the Music video is even better
This new album probably won't be super popular, but this is exactly the sound and style that rock music needs right now. It harkens back to rock's golden days in the 70s without simply rehashing the past, and uses grainy 70s visuals in a way that feels new and original. Thank you guys for not resting on your laurels.
70's? You mean Led Zeppelin? Yeah, it sound exactly like Led Zeppelin
Bowie, ELO …70’s…I think they’re touches of these 70s artists for sure
Yeah, new rock needs to just copy old shit that already existed 50 years ago which we moved on from.....
?
Rock is dead
The Arctic Monkeys are a great example of a band that has aged really well. Not all the bands are capable of this, some tend to go pop, which is ok. But the intention of being original, to propose something different, is just an act of bravery.
Aged? They were never bad.
@@pats-sd4kp they’re not saying that. Their saying that they’ve grown, evolved into a new sound that most artists don’t go “they usually go pop” :)
@@maisierobinson7451 Fair I see what you are saying, but the songwriting from this band has always been amazing, I never expected them to be garbage pop sounding. I even like/love AM (album).
Hi I recommend a song called 'The Bond Villain' by Robert Nix
Going pop isn't a bad thing and I'd argue that Arctic has gone pop since AM, a lot of bands stay true to their genre but they don't change overtime which leads to stagnation, and it's ok but adapting to the times and being in change just like these lads is waaay better
Oasis always screamed their claim to the mantle of The Beatles. Arctic Monkeys whispered it to us all through growth and constant reinvention. Visceral poetry.
