I subscribed , one thing i should ask while you respond, is. long story short, dad had to retire at 55 due to injury and wasn't able to get short term disability. pulled 401k and spent it trying to survive until he healed. he will be 62 in 2023, and re-retire mid year with about 35k, plus 20k cash. maybe do a video on what to do to maximize money with less than 50k.
HI! My apologies for the delayed response. Wow, that is a tough situation he is in and you are being a great son/daughter to try and help him. =) I don't have all the facts and would LOVE TO be in a position to develop a game plan for him as a financial advisor. I am assuming he will be eligible for Social Security. Between now and retirement the goal would be to stock away as much as possible, know how much he NEEDS to have in retirement every month, and what options he may have to reduce expenses in retirement. GOOD LUCK and perhaps when I have established my financial advisor practice I will be in a position to help further. THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻

I’m invested in mostly stocks but only Vanguard ETFs. I thought about selling some of Vanguard and going to different ones. I like the expense fees of Vanguard but they don’t alway perform as well.
Hi John! I also like Vanguard ETF's as they have an expansive selection. That being said, Vanguard's Dividend ETF's leave me lacking and I think there are better options out there. THANK YOU for watching John and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
There is a dividend ETF that's Not on the list that beats them all for total return with a 3% average yield, that is DJD, when I compared the charts... it's a sweet dividend, beats the others with the same comparable yield. Other dividend ETF's with much higher yields I would say are in their own categories for a lot lower price growth for a bit more income.
AWESOME SCOTT! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! Please let me know going forward what investing topics you want to learn more about as well as any feedback/questions you have!
The majority of stocks in the MSCI All World are US stocks. I have heard that Japan used to hold that top position. Also some firms are dominant. I want to buy the whole world so that my portfolio is stable no matter what region or tech or whatever comes out the winner. I heard that ETFs called Quality somewhere in their name help me avoid bubbles because they spread differently not based on what is the latest hype but what the firms really are worth (however that gets measured). I also want to have as many of the 8000 firms that exist and are available on the stock market as possible.
This was a really good technical analysis/modeling. Exactly what I wanted from this video. Would be interesting to see how these each do through bear markets. I suspect the Schwab ETF wouldn't fair as well given it's done so well throughout this bull market. I would lean towards the dividend aristocrats being a better hedge against turbulent markets.
HI MATT! Thank you for leaving a quality comment! I AGREE that the analysis lacks bear market data which is troubling and absolutely important. I think there is an opportunity to create a 2-4 ETF dividend portfolio to capture different segments of the market and also capture downside protection as well. I THINK that would be a video worth making. =) THANK YOU for watching Matt and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻

Hi Joe...Great content and really appreciate everything you are doing! Which membership do I need to choose to have access to the spreadsheets you presented on this video? Or which membership do you recommend for a starter like myself? Thank you and Cheers from Canada!
GREAT QUESTION PAUL! At the $3/month level you get access to the Excel spreadsheets but the Dividend Content starts at $5/month for the monthly dividend stock spreadsheet and $10/month gets you additional dividend content including Dividend Q&A videos and updates on when I adjust my portfolio. You always have great content on your channel. Is it possible that you do a video on FIRE... financial independence. Once you calculate your FIRE number (e.g...1 million) and have that 1M, What allocation of stocks and bonds would you have for that 1 M?....how would you start to withdraw 4% from it ?....It will be a cool video....
What do you think about having SCHD, VTI and VXUS in the portfolio? I kinda feel weird not having a Fidelity ETF somewhere in that since I use Fidelity lol. Thanks for the great information high quality videos!
THANK YOU for your feedback Brian! As I always say, everybody's situation is different as are their investment goals, time to retirement and risk tolerance. That being said, you have an interesting mix. The SCHD top holdings overlap a bit with VTI since both are cap-weighted and the top holdings in the NASDAQ index are the same top holdings in VTI. Have the total internal stock market with VXUS is not a bad play either to diversify though as I tell people I don't bother with International at this time. You can weight the holdings how you want to based on your risk tolerance. Hope that helps! THANK YOU for watching Brian and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
Because of the overlap between SCHD and VTI, you might consider an "extended market" sort of fund instead. Those are usually positioned as being "everything that is not in the S&P 500." However, VTI is likely cheaper and after you investigate the overlap it might not matter to you. My choice is to consider SCHD as similar to "large cap value." Then I add "small cap value" in the form of VBR. VTI is mostly "large cap blend" and I pair that with "small cap blend" in the form of VB.
1st time watcher....this was really good info. Thank you ! Ideas for future ? A dividend ETF that coves hot sectors for 2021 ? I agree with you, individual stocks can beat an ETF .....but if u can't really focus on this for a couple months ( like me ), a div etf will have to do. Thank u again !
HI DEBORA. I haven't done that analysis. Truth is, ETF's are a bit more common for dividend funds than indexed mutual funds. I can't really give you a GREAT answer right now. Sorry I couldn't be more help. THANK YOU for watching debora and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻

THANK YOU for weighing in Nick. I don't necessarily advocate buying SPYD or any specific Dividend ETF in this video. Just trying to do an apples-2-apples comparison. THANK YOU for watching Nick and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
You should always look for the growth percentage over the last 10 years, and what they are invested in aswell as the expense ratio! my favorites are VOO VNQ and VTI!
AWESOME JOSE! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! It definitely depends on your goals and strategies. IF you are just looking at the returns then you might end up investing in an ETF that is riskier than you are comfortable with. IT STARTS with knowing your goals and then we can develop a plan to meet those goals with investments AKA the TOOLS to accomplish your goals. Hope that helps! THANK YOU for watching Jose and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
@@AverageJoeInvestor Joe, all I'm looking for is to grow my money. I want to invest so that hopefully my investment will increase in value and make some money. HELP.
the big question i wish you can do a video on is a fund outperforming the Sp500 say FSPGX vs SCHD, same $400 monthly contribution, is the % gained on large cap funds better or dividend etfs better due to reinvestments buying themselves every quarter? the gap of large cap funds is wide compared to SCHD, pls advise.
What would you suggest be the best combination of these kinds of ETFs that prevents overlap and over diversification? Other than that fantastic research! And yes I did subscribe because that research seems pretty rigorous
AWESOME TONIO! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! GREAT QUESTION! I did subscribe ! Hey I got 10k $ and would love to invest but I have not experience I mean I don’t know nothing , ( got fidelity account for my 401k) any advice will be appreciated
HI KYLE! I cannot provide specific financial advice because I am not CURRENTLY licensed to do so (ETA 3-4 months for my financial planning firm). That being said, I really like SCHD as a dividend ETF option. =) THANK YOU for watching Kyle and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
GREAT QUESTION ALAIN. These dividend ETF's own normal dividend stocks and in order for them to be qualified, I will lean on a definition from Fidelity's website here: Qualified dividends: These are dividends designated by the ETF as qualified, which means they qualify to be taxed at the capital gains rate, which depends on the investor’s modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) and taxable income (the rates are 0%, 15%, 18.8%, and 23.8%). These dividends are paid on stock held by the ETF, which must own them for more than 60 days during the 121-day period that begins 60 days before the ex-dividend date. Moreover, the investor must own the shares in the ETF paying the dividend for more than 60 days during the 121-day period that begins 60 days before the ex-dividend date. This means if you actively trade ETFs, you probably can't meet this holding requirement.

AWESOME JOHN! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! Glad to have you here!!
New subscriber here. Great content! Was debating between schd vs voo
AWESOME VINCENT! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! SCHD vs. VOO is a very different investment since VOO is more growth and less dividend whereas SCHD is weighted more heavily with income but still also has capital appreciation. Please let me know going forward what investing topics you want to learn more about as well as any feedback/questions you have!
I subscribed, and what do you think about STWD verses CODI ?

AWESOME! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! Please let me know going forward what investing topics you want to learn more about as well as any feedback/questions you have! I will cover this in my Friday video next week! =)
Great video. Would be curious to see which has the best dividend growth in addition to share appreciation and yield as well.
Great suggestion! You can definitely see the CAGR based on today's information in the spreadsheet but KNOWING what will happen with growth rates in the future is tough. THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
Great video Joe, thank you! What do you think of covered call ETFs?
GREAT QUESTION GWEN -- They were actually already on my radar but I just hadn't had time to do enough thorough research but I am doing it currently and you can expect a thorough video on the topic in the next 30 days, likely less. THANK YOU for watching Gwen and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
I subscribed! Very informational video. Thank you.

I subscribed , one thing i should ask while you respond, is. long story short, dad had to retire at 55 due to injury and wasn't able to get short term disability. pulled 401k and spent it trying to survive until he healed. he will be 62 in 2023, and re-retire mid year with about 35k, plus 20k cash. maybe do a video on what to do to maximize money with less than 50k.
man that is tough, he should start up an online business maybe to extend his income!
@@moneymindset7390 he so hard headed he won't trust me
Thank you so much for your research! You are awesome! It would be great to see some statistical comparison between a Dividend etf portfolio vs a 10-20 dividend stock portfolio.
GREAT POINT! That is coming next Friday! =) STAY TUNED! THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
Check out a schd / vht and or vghax portfolio. Low volatility high reurns

@@AverageJoeInvestor let me check what you already to not request what you have already done LOL! I’m now more focused on dividend stocks, etf, etc. I tried some growth stocks past few months but got burned with some bad choices ooops!
I subscribed! Thanks for all the good info. Do you have any resources to learn foundational info? I’m just starting out
AWESOME! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! I have a few good videos on the channel about some foundational things to learn. I personally like individual stocks. My only etfs VYM and VIS.. I always enjoy your videos. I only invest in dividend paying stocks. Everything on drip.
Thanks for sharing Billy! I don't have a dividend ETF currently but I may diversify a bit in the future. THANK YOU for watching Billy and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻

Great video now i understand the difference between all dividend etfs i will invest on high dividend etfs i want some income for my retirement i do not want to sell my etfs i want to leave them for my kids because i do not want them to work so hard to earn money as i did during my hole life.

I really like Schwab’s etf’s. Their low expense price are comparable to vanguard’s but with share prices that are usually half the price.
THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
So, would you take SCHD over VIG ?
Share price is meaningless
Ticker "AMZA" worth buying now?
Bravo!!! Thank You Joe!
THANK YOU so much for that feedback Kathleen! I really appreciate it! THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! =)
Very good break down Joe! Numbers don't lie lol. Very hard to beat SCHD. All I have in my Schwab account is SCHD. Just keep adding monthly 📈
Right on John! THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments!
Ahhhhh just got to see this vid, you sir are amazing! Love these breakdowns and analysis!!!!!
THANK YOU so much for that feedback! I really appreciate it. =)
It would be nice to hear what ETFs availible in Europe would be in your selection

what do you guys think about this allocation in my roth ira at age 29?
VFIAX - 70%
SCHD - 30%
Are the results the same now in Dec. 2021 ?? Which ETF is in first place, second place , etc. ??
The majority of stocks in the MSCI All World are US stocks. I have heard that Japan used to hold that top position. Also some firms are dominant. I want to buy the whole world so that my portfolio is stable no matter what region or tech or whatever comes out the winner. I heard that ETFs called Quality somewhere in their name help me avoid bubbles because they spread differently not based on what is the latest hype but what the firms really are worth (however that gets measured). I also want to have as many of the 8000 firms that exist and are available on the stock market as possible.
GREAT JOB on your investing journey! THANK YOU for watching Maximiliane and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
I think there was just an article on seekingalpha that tried to answer that question.
Very solid video man. Would love to see the comparison of individual div. growth stocks compared to these Dividend Growth funds.
I JUST MADE THAT VIDEO! Here is the link: ruclips.net/video/2IrRMx4HoQE/видео.html || THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments!
Hope that helps! THANK YOU for watching Paul and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
@@AverageJoeInvestor Thank you Joe. Is there a minimum membership length, such as minimum 3 months or a year,etc...?
Was there any fidelity based options that were comparable? Great video!
Is SCHD a good buy for a traditional IRA?
That's a lot of research you've done and crammed into a video, which helped me out a ton in making a buying decision. I'd subscribe twice if I could.
HAHA, that is awesome! Thank you so much for joining the Average Joe Investor community! Please let me know going forward what investing topics you want to learn more about as well as any feedback/questions you have!
What do you think about SPHD?
I think its solid!
GREAT IDEA! It's on the list -- Likely in the next 30-45 days. =) THANK YOU for watching Sam and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
We are writing for yours good job
THANK YOU for watching Amy and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
How about a portfolio which pays out about 80% in dividends now but has about 20% growth potential. It can include stocks and ETF`s ??
HI JULIE! WELCOME TO THE CHANNEL! =) THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
How about the best index fun for dividends?
HI DEBORA. I haven't done that analysis. Truth is, ETF's are a bit more common for dividend funds than indexed mutual funds. I can't really give you a GREAT answer right now. Sorry I couldn't be more help. THANK YOU for watching debora and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
@@AverageJoeInvestor oh ok 👌
THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT AMAZING BREAKDOWN!!! :-)
YOU BET TYRONE! THANK YOU for watching and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
@@AverageJoeInvestor You got it Sir
Great work
SCHD is not a Nasdaq index like you stated here. It's a Dow Jones index
YOU ARE 100% CORRECT TYLER! Thank you for keeping me honest. I should have stated it is the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 index. I actually have a detailed video coming out on SCHD this coming week. THANK YOU for watching Tyler and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
SPYD btw has a negative rating on Morning Star which is no joke finacial publication just so you know
THANK YOU for weighing in Nick. I don't necessarily advocate buying SPYD or any specific Dividend ETF in this video. Just trying to do an apples-2-apples comparison. THANK YOU for watching Nick and for leaving your $0.02 in the comments! 😎👍🏻
I'm subscribed, now tell me what to look for when buying an ETF?
I actually am working on a spreadsheet that breaks down underlying holdings for many different dividend ETF's to address overlap. =) More to come! Please let me know going forward what investing topics you want to learn more about as well as any feedback/questions you have!
I’m super interested in this as well. Currently most of my money is in schd and qyld.
I did subscribe ! Hey I got 10k $ and would love to invest but I have not experience I mean I don’t know nothing , ( got fidelity account for my 401k) any advice will be appreciated
OUSA seems pretty solid as well
Video coming out this coming week on OUSA vs my portfolio! STAY TUNED! =)
Hi joe In your non-legal opinion🤠 I have spyd would it be a good idea to pick up schd as well?
Are those etf's giving qualified dividends or ordinary? Could you clarify the difference. Thanks
GREAT QUESTION ALAIN. These dividend ETF's own normal dividend stocks and in order for them to be qualified, I will lean on a definition from Fidelity's website here:
Qualified dividends: These are dividends designated by the ETF as qualified, which means they qualify to be taxed at the capital gains rate, which depends on the investor’s modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) and taxable income (the rates are 0%, 15%, 18.8%, and 23.8%).
