    A great turn-around game in NHK-cup tournament. Habu wins a completely losing game.
    You can also find videos on youtube where you can actually see them playing!

    This is the coolest game I have seen soo far! These type of gameplay make it soo interesting to learn more about shogi!

    That clearly shows that in Shogi, if you lose the initiative, you get crushed by your opponent.

    One of the best games covered so far IMO.
    Keep it up!

    Dropping the pieces always trips me up. I have the chess mindset of trading when attacking is bad but it’s the opposite in Shogi because you get the piece in hand to play anywhere.

    Jesus christ this game is even hard to follow, I remember the moves but I still forget what the chinese characters look like for each piece... will take me a while to get a hold of any strategy, but it's still entertaining to watch

      The hardest ones for me to learn were lance, knight, and silver. But if you sit down for an hour looking at the pieces and their names it should stick.
      Oh and dont even bother trying to remember promoted names/symbols besides promoted Rook and Bishop. Every other piece promotes to a gold general.

    Because in the endgame, material gain is less important than speed.
    Moving the silver to 4b will just help black gain speed, for example by G-5b, although S-4b is not too bad.

    I have the entire Habu Nakagawa game on DVD. Can I upload it on RUclips? Or does the NHK prohibit it?

    You should use "Subtitle Workshop".
    First you download the video from youtube, and load the video file to subtitle workshop, and then you start making subtitles.
    After it's done, you save it to SUB format, and send it to me. I'll upload it on youtube.

    @xDAZZE: 1. Kx2c 2. P*2d 3. Kx2b 4. S*2c 5. Gx2c 6. Px2c+ 7. Kx2c 8. P*2d 9. K-3b 10. S-4c+ 11. Kx4a 12. G*4b is mate. There are several variations to this (like 9. Kx2d 10. N*3f 11. K-2c 12. P*2d and then it continues with the above mate), but to every variation, there's no way to escape checkmate. Habu's endgame was perfect after S*2b.

    @robotnik14: I don't know how to do it in any other program, but in BCMShogi, you load the Kifu of the game and then select Game -> Playing Mode and then make sure the players are both the engine you want to analyze with. Select the game time for how long you want the analysis to take, and then choose the "Autoanalyze" option, and then press Okay. The engines will then start analyzing the game, and will bring up a chart for who was better in each move, and it can recommend moves it prefers.

    すっかり有名になった大逆転の将棋ですね。中川さんもプロ的な手を重ねていたんですが微妙に温い手とかがあり、最終的に羽生さんが見事な即詰に討ち取りました。
    P.S.この動画は日本の人も結構見ていると思います。

      I just recently got into it as well, don't worry it gets much easier as time goes on. I've been checkmated before though because I thought a bishop was a rook lol

      I recommend an Android app called PIYOSHOGI (ぴよ将棋)It is in Japanese, but you can get the grip out of it. The good thing about this app is that you can change the pieces to different modes, and one of them shows the possible movements of each piece, so you can learn it easily : )

      @TokyoGamer Thanks, but I can recognize the pieces now. In fact, I used an apple app similar to the one you described. It is great to see how helpful and friendly the Shogi community is. God bless!

    Habu dont haveto take the bishop h4 and he willby better because nakagawa s bishop is not active and rook is not active to

  • @xDAZZE

    Thanks. I miscounted the moves. It seemed that if the King took the 2d pawn after the first drop then Knight drop after that, Habu will be short by 1 pawn. In the end I guess it worked out.

  • @xDAZZE

    At 18:32, what if the King took 2c pawn, then Silver can promote and take Knight but it won't be a check. If he goes with the similar lines, he can always take the Silver on 2c later, and the Gold protects 4c square so 5d Silver cannot promote to 4c. Wouldn't that be no mate?

  • @vyli1
    @vyli1 12 лет назад

    at 2:34, how about white making bishop exchange? Black can take it with knight or gold, both of which don't seem to be good structures. Or is there any reason in particular, why White COULDN'T do the bishop exchange at that moment?

    • @YuiraKun
      @YuiraKun 5 лет назад

      Its been 6 years but they simply didn't want to waste a turn, they wanted a bishop exchange where they can develop their silver

    Where you can see at 11:58 a Checkmate?

    • @kobe3576
      @kobe3576 4 года назад

      ROOK to 6G, promotes & check to KING. If KING goes to 7i, then White SILVER drop 6H and checkmate. If KING goes to 5i, then White SILVER drop to 5H check. Black GOLD has to take that SILVER (there is no other possibility. KING cannot take it as it is protected by White ROOK), then ROOK moves to 5H, capturing Black GOLD and checkmate (ROOK is protected by BISHOP in 5H from 8E).

    I wonder why he assigns "black" to be the first player whereas in chess it's the white?

    I've never lost to a chess or strategy player. I just don't understand the point. When I was a child, I notice a pattern common in chess players and here. They only understand conflict as a way to win. This is limiting and dangerous when facing an opponent skilled in the art of victory through non fighting.
    I understand some societies deem intelligence connected to these games and I'm not disbarring the opinion but, chess players are very easy to beat. These are the guys too focused on developing military in CIV instead of controlling all strategic resources and trade routes forcing other players to protect and fight for you because without you, they can't survive or run their civilizations. Chess players can only see the path to victory through conflict. You just have to choose the paths away from that. Normally, they'll destroy themselves with minimal effort from you. Like in CIV, if I own all the uranium, rubber, coal, steel and most trade routes, a chess player will always have to play at a disadvantage on my terrain.
