I just bought one last weekend. Unboxed it today, and boy is a joy to use as a long-term beginner. Your review has been the best of all brother sewing machine unboxing videos. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you are still enjoying using yours till present.
This might’ve been the best sewing machine unboxing ever. 😂 Thanks for keeping it fresh with some humor thrown in! I’m a little jealous, my first sewing machine is super basic like your first (I still have it and use it regularly) and I’m getting this model for my 10 yr old for her bday. Selling point being the variable speed. Trying to figure out those pedals that are super touchy is something else.
I also have a computerized brother machine, and I love, love, love mine. All those features make sewing with it so much more pleasurable. You will thoroughly enjoy yours.
I bought this same machine over a year ago but I haven’t opened it yet. Now you have inspired me to open it and pack my old brother away to be my spare machine 😊
Congrats on your new "baby!" I bet by now you've tried all of the different features, all of the different stitches, etc... I think you absolutely did the right thing about upgrading!
I love brother sewing machines so much I have 3 ( serger, se625, and se400 that my 12 yr old granddaughter uses). We sew together all the time. She loves everything about her little machine embroidery and sewing both. We watch you while we sew. Thank you for sharing.😊
Thank you Monica! Its so lovely to hear about you and your granddaughter sewing together. I have so many happy childhood memories of sewing with my mum. I'm sure she will treasure her memories too.
Bought this on Sunday 18th March (a little M’Day treat for me and much needed upgrade !) First 12 panels of first ever quilt completed and I love it! 👍
@@TodayweCraft what a nuisance! My old arthritic hands didn’t react to ‘measured’ sessions and I’m now using a hand splint for 2 weeks! Oh well patience is a virtue 😉🌻
Thanks for a great video. My son watched this and it convinced him to buy one. He is expecting it to be delivered sometime today and I think he is just a little excited 😊
Yes, sewing machines get me excited! For Christmas last year, I upgraded my Brother GS2510 to a Brother Innov-is A150!! And oml the difference!! I loved my GS2510 very much, she is a work horse, and I was able to sell her on to a friend. I wanted to keep her for top stitching, but I just don't have the room for her in my sewing room 😢
Thank you so much for this unboxing video! I bought one of these machines earlier this year, and thanks to your video I now know where to look to drop the feed dogs, it was driving me crazy, and I did not find the instructions very helpful. I love my machine 🙂 but hardly ever use any of the nice fancy stiches lol
You are so welcome! I very rarely use fancy stitches either. I'm still trying to get my head around using the button foot. I'll have to make a video when I do lol.
Thankyou so much for this video. I just found someone using this machine on tiktok and I loved it. Might have to be my new one when I get my sewing room designed when I move in with my boyfriend. Thankyou for the detailed review. This really helped, you are really cool too 😁
Hi! I had a busy day sewing and filming in my sewing room today. I'm so thankful that I get to sit down and watch your video! I'm still hand sewing and mending my blue jeans but I have you to keep me company. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for sharing your video and your talent.
I bought a Baby Lock (a Brother under the skin,) and the speed control also moves the needle to the right and left. Mine is a Brilliant, and it may be a feature on the midrange and up. I’ve had so much to learn with this machine, and sometimes the manual is not all that helpful. RUclips has come to the rescue more than once!
I just picked up my new brother cs7205 today, so I understand your excitement 😊 I’m fixing to unbox it and hope I’m as happy with mine as you are with yours. First time watching one of your videos, loved it!!!!!!!
I have 3 brother sewing machines and 2 sergers. Love them. My latest is the Brother Innovis A150 ❤️ 1. Some of the old bobbins don't work well in the new machine. Lay bobbin like a p not a q with the thread dangling down. 😉 Enjoy?
That's interesting as all my machines say lay it like a q not a p! I wonder if that's a feature with the Innovis specifically or all new Brother machines......?
Embroidery machines are just a whole other level of skill that I just don't understand. I expect I will bite the bullet one day. Perhaps in another 10 years when I upgrade again lol. x
I get excited over any sewing machine or device… (sewing device!!). I have about…. Actually wont say, cause you will laugh and think I am greedy, I also collect vintage machines… I love your excitement cause that is me to a T…. Congrates on your new baby!!!
Thats so helpfull. I too am upgrading, but was unsure about this one or the FS100WT. Now i have seen it working I am going with the more stich version. It does letters so my new grand daughter can expect some special messages. Great video and it did make me realise I am not the only crazy person about these things. You need to do a video on quilting next. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Glad I could help! I need to get a bit better at quilting myself before I feel confident to advise others. Thank you for the vote of confidence tho. Happy sewing! x
Very nice unboxing! Would very much like a follow up tutorial! Does it sew thick layers ( patchwork) well? And i`m NOT envious of that lighted row of cabinets in the back; my eyes always go a little green this time of day!...😄😍 😊
I would love a real thorough "how to use this machine tutorial" I have bought this as well, but being a newbie. It would be great to have a troubleshooting, or how to use this machine video series. If you are so inclined.
Having just purchased this model after my old brother electric machine broke after 46 years and my husband bought it when I was 19 years old I am now 65 years old now and I chose this model for its light weight and automatic needle threader, and I don’t have to use a foot pedal. My old machine was so heavy and in a plastic carry case and three times the size of my new machine. The old machine was heavy metal and only the base was plastic and the solid cover had handles that clipped to the base of my old machine. My son ordered it from Amazon for me £209 next day delivery of my old machine cost more than the new machine.
It's amazing how much they have come down in price. I had an old machine for ages but I just hated using the foot pedal. For me the start/stop button was the real selling point. x
There's no reason to think that this machine couldn't sew elasticated fabrics. If I have a particularly stretchy fabric that is prone to moving about too much then I sew with a peeve of grease proof paper either side as this helps the fabric move through without it sliding all over the place.
got same machine today, having trouble with the reverse sewing, getting little loops on top, never been good with tensions on machine, advice and tips would be most welcome
I have this machine, my number 52 just seems to bunch up then I have to unscrew the plate to get a lump of embroidery thread out. What am I doing wrong? please and thank you
Are you planning on making videos on how to use it? I'm planning on getting the same one and have never used a sewing machine before. Excited to learn!
Hello there. Having used this machine for couple of months now, would u still recommend it? Is it easy to use? Any problems u think? Im planning to buy this one so looking forward to your answer. Thanks x
Hi Paras, yes I absolutely love it. I still haven't quite got my head around the buttonhole sewing attachment but I think that is my failing more than the machines.
What an excellent machine to learn on! I learned on the very cheap, basic, Singer, and it was rough 😂 my 2nd machine was the Brother GS2510, and it was a huge upgrade!
Love the needle down, and the stop/start button. Thanks for showing us your new machine. Looks wonderful.... Oh, and the automatic threader doesn't hurt, either. lol
Thank you very much for the review! After watching your video, I've just bought the same machine, but I have problems with some decorative stitches, particularly with those which look like cross-stitch: 57-61. They aren't even, and some of them don't look right at all. I followed advices from Brother website, used 14 needle, adjusted upper tension to 4, made sure the machine is threaded correctly and used a double layer of fabric, but it didn't help :( did you have any issues with those stitches? If yes, how did you solve them?
needle broke, had to take needle plate off, to retrieve broken piece of needle, now can't get the thing back in, either the top end goes in or the bottom end goes in but it wont do both
Might be a bit late to the party, but I am looking into buying this one,,,, how does it perform with jeans?? I tend to do a lot of corsage with thicker fabrics, how you had a chance to play with denim, corduroy or suede?? Loooove your humour btw :D
I made a tent bag back in the summer using really heavy duty cotton canvas and it worked beautifully! Just set the needle speed a little slower than you would for other fabrics and you should be fine.
I'm thinking of getting this machine, but I wanted to ask if you are able to adjust the bobbin tension on it? I know it's a silly question but I've never used a machine with a top bobbin. I know how it's done on the lower one in a removable case, but how about these type? how do you adjust it? this machine seems brilliant and a great price range for what it does. Can you please advise me?
I have just unboxed mine this afternoon, ( from argos :) ) and I heard you say you would have to alter your tension, Did you get yours just right, Ive re-threaded and re-threaded and rewound the bobbin and rewound the bobbin and still my tension isn't right... Puzzled. might try a finer needle, but all the instructions say bobbin not right or not threaded right... not my first brother, so not a newbie to them.
Mmmm interesting, I found that my tension worked fine right out of the box. I have had this issue before with different machines. I ended up taking it for a service, they tool the tensioner right off, reinstalled it and then it worked ok. I worry that sometimes if a machine is not quite assembled correctly, or is not handled correctly in transit that it's the tensioner that seems to be the indicator.
It can probably sew pvc. Leather I couldn't guarantee as I've never tried it with leather. If it's think leather and with a leather needle, perhaps. You may be better off looking for a second hand industrial machine.

Hi, I'm new to the whole sewing world and a little unsure whether this is a coverlock or a "normal" sewing machine. Can you use it to sew elastic cover seams? And would you also recommend a "normal" sewing machine aditinonally? I just discovered you and have already learned so many new things. Thank you very much 💗
Hi Felia, welcome to the channel! This is a "standard" sewing machine. A cover or overlocker would be a separate machine. I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean by elastic cover seams. A zigzag stitch is suitable for sewing elastic, which is possible with this machine. I hope that answers your question x
