Video is very informative I thing those giving dislikes are because of video quality but that’s ok as this is more into informative video. Nicely explained.
Very genuine points. Exactly what I feel. 1) Suspension is definitely on the firmer side but fine if there aren't many potholes on your local roads 2) Not only is the steering heavy @ parking speeds, I feel it's a bit on the lighter side at higher (~120+ kph) speeds & could have been tuned to be a bit heavier, though I would still prefer it over dead Electronic Steerings for a Harrier sized car. 3) Body roll IS present (don't know many reviewers say it is absent) but decently managed nonetheless. 4) Turning radius is commensurate for a car of its size, & in some cases even better than some smaller sedans but still not the most ideal for heavy City driving. 5) Clutch: a) I convinced myself to go with the MT arguing that: > MT is ~ 1L cheaper > MT gives a better FE > MT is more reliable & lower in maintenance > MT is more fun to drive (they say) > My running is mostly highways etc Well, after driving the AT (when I took my car for service) - Egg On My Face! Unless you're strapped for cash or are a purist/enthusiast, DON'T EVEN THINK of the MT. Just go with the TC AT eyes closed. Period. Not only because the MT is a bit of hassle, but because the TC AT is simply fantastic! It has even better NVH, even better power delivery! (masks the little initial turbo lag), is SUPER SMOOTH with a great shift logic. The price of 1L might seem a bit significant but its TOTALLY worth it. b) Regarding driving on half clutch, I fully agree with you, mine is the BS6 MT version with 30 PS extra power & it simply LUNGES like there's no tomorrow if you release the clutch very quickly (but then the next moment it becomes very docile once the clutch is fully released). Twice while driving in heavy B2B traffic which was CRAWLING, my car started smoking under the bonnet due to clutch plate burning. It's impossible to crawl in B2B traffic without driving on partial clutch & will inevitably lead to premature clutch plate wear if driven in B2B traffic frequently (which most city commuters can't avoid). That's why the TC automatic is a no brainer for city drivers (but I'll recommend the AT even to highway drivers) 6) Since mine has extra 30 PS, the "Eco" mode is quite usable, especially in B2B traffic, the "CITY" mode orivided the perfect balance & that's what I mostly use (in cities & on highways too!). "Sport" mode is best suited for empty Expressways (not highways) & I rarely use it. 7) Verdict: If your driving is ≥ 80 ℅ in the city, Creta/Seltos (& even the Compass AT) are more practical options. But that being said, I think you can live with the Harrier AT too. I, PERSONALLY, will always pick the Harrier AT over the Creta/Seltos/Hector/Compass even for city usage! because all these cars don't resonate with me the way the Harrier does, it kind of feels like best of both worlds....hard to explain but Harrier owners can understand 😉 PS: Appreciate the effort in putting the timestamps in the footer. Although you can put it in the description too if you feel its reducing the viewing area.
Ankit most honest and superb review. just took a test drive today. Felt the ride was a little bumpy...I was feeling the bumps..which was unpleasant. Got used to the steering after a 10 minutes. I'll be driving mostly in city and sometimes on long drives on highways. This bumpy feeling with the car is on my mind. Was it the same with you?
I am using creta sxo since 2 yrs. Engine is good and fully loaded with features. But suspension is very soft. Small potholes feels like bada gaddha. I dont feel secure in that car.
Finally someone talking sense. Warna to bhai logon ne harrier ko tank bana ke choda hua tha. Tank achi cheez hai bhai but tank main beth ke offcie nahi ja sakte na.
Nicely explained still I think you might have missed to mention that the one you driving is BS4 and not BS6 where the steering is lighter than the previous generation. Another point you could have mentioned as you driving manual and not Automatic (no headache of clutch). Being a Harrier owner I'm so happy though am agreed if someone is looking for only city drive they can check other alternatives but if someone want to enjoy a powerful SUV, road presence and time to time travels then go for it and this will bring smile in your face. Strongly will suggest to go for Automatic BS6 as you will feel much more comfortable even in city drive.
Really liked your video.I am also an Harrier fan and this has helped me to be aware of challenges driving this beauty in city..but yes don't think can defy the points highlighted.Just to add automatic should help nullify the clutch and fatigue issue I feel.
Thank you Sirji. Nexon xzplus or Harrier base model very confused. I want to use the car for next 10 years. Based out of Bangalore and want to use daily for office. Please guide..
Thanks this was a very good video, something not covered by most of the reviewers. I was seriously considering the Harrier. But since I am in Bangalore I guess it may not be the most practical option. Ultimately it’s gonna be a heart (Harrier) over mind (other options).
I'm driving in Bangalore though not too much inside city but if you are going with Automatic then you may not feel that much of hassles as mentioned in the video. Trust me this is an awesome SUV if you consider in all aspects. But if you gonna use it only for office to home in high traffic then a little compact vehicle will be more convenient for you.
Great review sir, It was very informative and even though there are many reviewers who praise this car they are not the day to day driver of the same. Because of which they are not able to touch the actual day to day usabe points. I am also planning to buy Tata Harrier xza+, getting the final quotes from the dealers in noida and greaterNoida. Your reviews are very helpful amd informative.
Thanks for this detailed video and not being biased. I think you have pretty much covered all the points except vibration. I am planning to buy but my experience with one of the demo car at Harrier showroom was not good, in fact the seats were also vibrating. Please clarify.
@@OneExtraMile I am currently using petrol car and not have any experience of diesel vehicle. would like to check if vibration is a usual thing in diesel vehicles.
Sometimes it sounds so silly. No one buys one car for city, one of highway, one for mountains, one for sea, one for rivers. Lol. If car is bit too tough for city, you can get used to it. It will take a month or two. But if the car doesn't do well in highways, you can't change it. However 'used to', you become to it, once a car not inspires confidence, it never will ever.
No one buy one phone for using under water, one for freezing cold, one for high temp usage but than all phone OEM test their phone for these conditions. Hope I answer your doubt. Thank you.
@@OneExtraMile i mean people also drive fortuners endeavours, safari's, Scorpios, as daily drivers right in city traffic. @@banerjeesaheb Agree with you upto some extent. But youu didnt watch it carefully. I also mentioned these are good perks for highway for sure. Its a tradeoff but if a person only need a car for city pupose things may change.
The experience I had with new BS VI automatic model is very good for both city & highway. In highway, Harrier is KING !!! I drive around 1000 kms per month on highway & balance 1000 kms in Chennai city. It’s good with 170 PS automatic. I drive in highway with eco only where I go between 80-150. In city also I prefer eco mode. Only on overtaking on highway I use sports mode. So, BS VI with 170 PS with automatic is really very good. It’s effortless gliding machine on highway. In heavy city traffic, automatic is manageable. The only advantage & disadvantage of Harrier is it’s SIZE !!!
