A day filled with a rollercoaster ride of emotions - from mayhem outside pre-match to the highs and lows on the pitch inside the stadium. What a special night it was! And so proud of this England team!

You personally were fair, but so many fellow England fans of yours weren't. Also, one thing is encouraging your team and entirely another is acting like you had already won when you haven't even played yet. The whole "it's coming home" thing was extremely annoying and backfired spectacularly. Never mess with Lady Karma. No doubt it will come back to haunt you in international matches for decades to come.
Thank you! I do believe that most English fans are decent and reasonable like me, though you always get some brazen loud minority. "It's coming home" is misunderstood by everyone I think. Originally it was played in Euro 96 since England hosted the tournament and we believe that football originated in England. Since then it's become an anthem for optimism and showing support for the team, not necessarily that we narcissisticly believe we will win. Most English fans are by nature quite pessimistic - so the optimism shown is usually done sarcastically... Deep down if you ask most English fans they would tell you that Italy were favorites in the Final. But in some way this bravado is there to cover the pessimism and support the team wholeheartedly

Penalties are the most unpleasant thing in football.
In the end they are a lottery.
In the semifinals, for example, I have to admit that Spain deserved to win (I don't know if you saw the game).
The English players impressed me with how they persisted in protecting the goal lead. Be very proud of your boys.
If not the cup I would have also given them the gold medal like the Azzurri.
Italy, Spain and England are in my opinion among the few who will be able to compete for the world cup.

@@LouisDoc couldn't agree more... Pens are a lottery. Spain outplayed Italy in the semi, but they did what they needed to do to take that game to penalties and got through. Think England attempted the same in the final and it didn't work for them. I admire how Italy were more positive in the final, in spite of going a goal behind early and having most of the stadium behind England in an away game. Hope England continue to improve and go one step further next year 🙌 Congratulations to Italy 🥂
