- John Constantine is approached by Det. Angela Dodson who needs his help to prove that her twin sister Isabel's death was not a suicide. The dead woman was a devout Catholic and Angela refuses to accept she would have taken her own life. She's asked Constantine for help because he has a reputation for dealing with the mystical. In fact, he is a demon hunter whose sole purpose on Earth is to send demons back to the nether regions. John himself has been to Hell and knows that he is destined to return there on his death - but hopes his good deeds may find him a place in Heaven. As he looks into Isabel's death, he realizes demons are trying to break through to the human world, and his battles lead him into a direct conflict with Satan.

This movie had some really great scenes, a great overall story arc with twists, one of the best depictions if hell I have ever seen in any media, but also it had some weak parts to it like how all of Constantine's helpers kind of just died without any chance and he wasn't even really sad for Beeman, who gave him all the key items to succeed, and that other excorcist. He was only sad for Chas who btw became resurrected as angel in the end. The cgi for some of the monster was also bad but other cgi was good. Really hope they make a sequel finally.

Humans would never get along with demons. Even in this world I would assume.
@silaaron76 I’ve met a couple of “demons” (not in the religious sense, but murderers) and I never had a particularly hard time getting along with them. They’re good at disguising themselves, but it takes someone who’s half fucked up themselves to identify them. It’s kind of similar to the metaphor seen in this movie.

Careful what you watch. There is alot of deception in movies such as this. For example, doing deeds in order to makes it to heaven or receive wjatsoever you desire on earth (longevity). Only Jesus Christ is whom you should believe in and his blood being the atonement for our sins. Id advice all who are interested in knowing more of the spiritual to read the bible. Galatians 2:8-9 and romans 6:1-2.
Ezekiel 23:16-21 was the key to my salivation.
In this movie (at around 1h 26 mins) Angela fires her gun consecutively 30 times without reloading, but her Smith and Wesson Model 6906 holds a total of 13 rounds 😅😅😅🤣😂

@@WheatDos I know, but that still seems like an awfully beneficial thing for the Devil to do, almost like a deus ex machina for a happy ending.
@@donaldlivingston75haven't you noticed that the traditional "deal with the devil" is always the devil doing something nice for you in exchange for your soul later down the line?
Usually it's with a contract, but he knows John is too smart for that, and is actively ascending, so he heals him to keep him within reach until he can claim the soul later.

this movie is straight up Bs. there is only one way to heaven and that is Jesus (our lord and saviour) there is no work in this world that could lead to salvation except for faith.
Of course, but keep in mind they are using Catholicism as a base. So trying to do good works makes sense in that case, just like suicide meaning you go to hell. In actuality suicide isn't an unforgivable sin.

@@menma199 Depends which one you ask. But look at their fruit, mortal sins for example, it's not Biblical but if you commit one then you have to tell a priest or you will go to hell. Not going to mass is a mortal sin. So if you don't go to church when you are perfectly able to and then die without repenting you will go to hell. There is a lot to get into with catholics lol

The role of Gabriel is that of a boy she's playing a boy in this. Just so you know. Yes girls can play male roles and men can play womens get over it.
While angels were always called he they were not human so some have argued they were asexual. Same with God in the Bible. Always called he but not human. The Bible was written in a deeply Patriarchal society and also, not real.

I tried watching this movie so many times and I was never able to finish it because is was bad. But then realized that if Matt Ryan was Constantine in this it would have been great. Please no offense to Keanu, but Matt is just a better Constantine.
