I've been a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman ever since I was 16 (I'm 29 now) and when I heard this, I broke down and cried. My aunt's beautiful 22-year-old daughter (my sweet cousin) had been killed just 3 months prior to Maria's death. My heart breaks for this beautiful family. Steven became my hero when he adopted these beautiful girls and now, he is really my hero. He's a warrior for Christ. What he & his family have gone through is tragic & devasting beyond belief.
To me, I think people have to be careful who they blame. Death happens...it sucks, but it happens. It's always unexpected and always painful. Suffering happens whether you are Christian or not. The only difference between Christians and non-Christians is that we have someone to lean on when we're hurt and struggling.
True. But being an adopted daughter myself, I have no objection to being called adopted. The word is just used to describe how I came into the family. It doesn't make me any less a member of it. Do you understand what I mean? I know Maria Sue was the daughter of her parents' hearts and that's all that matters. This family is often in my prayers and especially Will.
@CrapsterZ -- he didn't back over her..... he was actually pulling INTO the driveway... she saw him and came running... Will didn't see her because she was running from behind a barn... she ran out from "behind" the barn and right into the path of his vehicle.... there was nothing anyone could do.
Will must be so strong to get through this and I think the only thing that could make him that strong is God and prayer. I pray for him and for the family

In the time it took Shaoey to run for her parents, Will had already picked Maria up and was holding her, and Steven and Mary Beth called 911 and started CPR immediately.

@0Chelle0 She wasn't a twin, but she had a sister who was only 7 months older, and the two girls were very close, and practically raised as twins because they were so close in age.

Even though someone is adopted, a family accepts him/her as their own. That's how I would see it if I adopted someone. Surprised Larry King cares what going on with a christian artist. Think he want him on the show just to talk about the death of their daughter

God does not bombard us with a constantly, never-ceasing amount of "faith tests" that never end. What happened? Yes, it's sad. What really happened? Negligence. Everybody has a bad day. Apparently Will didn't check behind the car to make sure no little sibling was back there before backing up. That's NOT "God's fault." That's a human error. I wouldn't call it a "faith test" either.

She was running toward him and ran in front of the car. She was too short to be seen over the bumper of the SUV. And the girls had been playing in the yard seconds before that.
@@mariarivera6042 First “godly” isn’t a synonym for perfect - Mary Beth has said many times where she was. She and Steven were at the kitchen table going over plans for Emily’s wedding. She has said that she wrestles with guilt over not being outside but let’s face it - many children play outside on a spring day in their own yard while mom or dad is inside. It’s not like this had happened before- I imagine they’d played on the swing set lots of times while their parents were on the phone or cleaning house or whatever just like kids all over do.

Planning a wedding was more important to her than looking after a little asian girl. There's no excuse for what happened that day that led to the death of an innocent little girl simple as that period.
SCC is the REAL DEAL! I knew that from day 1 when he came into the Christian Music Scene. Have seen his gigs- and you just KNEW he was not a fake & phoney! I admire Mary Beth as well. This was an accident heard round the world! And we ALL Rallied w this Family! The pain will never go away - but the memories last FOREVER!

They don't even look like they cared for that poor innocent little asian girl. If that was me I would be devastated and would not have the stomach to be interviewed let alone on Larry King Live. Also I noticed they're laughing a lot for someone who's son supposedly "accidentally" killed that little girl!

Please read Steven Curtis Chapman between Heaven and real world which is his autobiography. In the book, Steven Curtis Chapman talks about not wanting to be in Larry king. He did it to show christian musicians are people too. They struggle and are far from perfect. I think it shows humility on his part.
I 🙏 that God exposes "the truth" of what really happened to that little girl!!! I don't believe a single word that came out of the so called Christian Chapman's. God knows everything and He will do justice even if it takes a while!

As a child of God Jehovah I happen to have the Holy Spirit living inside me and the bible says He will lead us into all "truth". First time I heard steven give an interview I knew right away after hearing everything he said and how he said it (body language) I knew he was lieying to cover up for his son.
