@@Ka1hal nothing else comes close to DxO's fantastic noise reduction. This one is average and it will get the job done but don't expect DxO quality. But if you want to play safe use DxO PureRAW to process your raw files, then edit the dng files in ACDSee or any other application of your choice.
Hi Patrick, I remember when ACDSee was just a photo viewer. It didn't do absolutely anything else, just to view your jpgs and gifs, I think at that time not even png's were available. I'm talking about Windows 95 times. It was the best free photo viewer available at that time LOL
Wow, yeah I wasn't even into photography back then but that's cool they have been around that long. Looks like they have evolved quite a bit over the...decades. -P
They do have a version made specifically for MAC, however it is nowhere near as robust and feature laden as the Photo Studio Pro offered for Windows users. They do have regular updates and one can only hope that eventually they will just have a product that works on both Windows and Mac platforms in the same way that Adobe offers their products.
Adobe moved to a subscription model because it stabilized their financials. It saved the company and provided a known income stream so that they could afford to release upgrades regularly (as camera hardware is upgraded.)
I have used AcdSee for years and have found it to work fast. It's one program that has features of Lightroom and Photoshop combined. Is it as powerful as each separate? Maybe not, but I don't have to change software's to do most of the editing. Upgrade price is usually around $70 for the new version which will last you. It's not a subscription. I usually upgrade every other year. I was not happy with the new 2024 version with their AI at it. So I will be waiting for 2025 version.
Interesting software. I shoot events as about 20% of my work, so it's probably not worthwhile for me, but if I needed that kind of editing, I can see how it would save a lot of time.
A critical question: If one buys ACDSee Ultimate 2024, will it automatically receive all updates year after year? I ask because some companies will sell their non-subscription software as a one-time purchase, but to get updates you have to pay extra. Does anyone know how this works w/ ACDSee Ultimate 2024? Thanks.
No, it’s only good for the updates they do to this specific software. That’s the trade off. Once ACDSee 2025 comes out, they will offer a discount to upgrade to it but you won’t get all future upgrades. -P
Seems like a fun program to use but it's too expensive for where it falls in the market, although it seems to fit in between Photoshop and Luminar Neo when it comes to features and functionality. And I think a couple of useful things to touch on; Who is it for? How does it stack again the competition? What are the limitations or drawbacks? Edit: Actually, no, this price is fine
The price is much less expensive than subscribing to Adobe and having nothing to actually "own". I feel like it's also a better fit for someone looking to replace lightroom and photoshop than the other "Ai" editors on the market. -P
Photoshop have very steep learning curve for new users. I used ACDSee like 20 years ago and was my fav photo viewer and editor. Its less hardware demanding while Adobe is well known from bad code integration of gpu. Its preference. I will definetly download it and try as i need fast photo editor like this. Fast launch no lag hopefuly its still old good acdsee. Will try it.
Well, I did just try it and unfortunately it's lagging more than Lightroom for me. It uses OpenCL and its literally printing photos on screen from top to bottom when zoom in... Seems Bad integration of gpu as it should have no problem with RTX 4070.

Thanks for that very informative review of ACDsee ( It has been my go-to editor for the last fifteen or so years and just gets better ! )
One of the most underrated photo editing applications out there. It deserves to get some attention as it's very capable.
How is noise reduction? Dxo level or near?

Nice review! I was surprised, though, to see that there was no highlight slider control in the masking panel.
From reading the comments there isn't a Mac version available. You should have mentioned that in your review.
I honestly didn't know since I'm not a Mac user. It does seem they are missing a huge segment of the photography community though. -P

@14:20 I think your left eye is actually slightly smaller. Have a good day!
Hey man, $149.99 is more like $150 than $149. Small point, but basic rounding should not need to be correcting.
How does PhotoWorks stack up with ACDC?
Aren't you supposed to be using a Mac?
Not yet, he hasn't given it to me...thank God! -P
I wanted to try it... No Mac version.. To bad... Bye bye...

They have something called modes for Mac 9 but I have no idea what that is exactly. www.acdsee.com/en/products/photo-studio-mac/#modes
