I first heard the band back in November.. and then I immediately starting kicking myself for not starting sooner. It's really my kind of power metal. I also love the killer dual guitar solos in nearly every song they do. The talent in every member of the band is incredible. 'Holy War' Live at Zepp Divercity Tokyo 2020 was my first song, and it's an excellent starter, but there's plenty more from that concert. 'Thunder Vengeance' and 'Raise Some Hell' and 'Swan Song' are all excellent. The band usually wears elegant white dresses when they perform, both live and in music videos, but it looks like they just walked in off the streets in their everyday clothes in this video. The white seems to contrast with the all black clothing worn by the ladies in other all-women Japanese bands.
First of all, Lovebites is not a power metal band, in several interviews, they never mentioned anything that has to do with power metal. They consider themselves the Lone Wolf of heavy metal, hence the wolf pack name for the fan base. They are a very diverse band that includes progressive metal, hard rock, thrash metal, and power ballads which all are incorporated with the classical elements.
I don't remember hearing a band in the last decade or so that I clicked with as instantly as I clicked with Lovebites. Not especially all the stuff from the newest album, but that might change as soon as they have some live footage out. I like all of their stuff better live than from the studio. I've got all their live blurays and if they're ever near my area... basically anywhere in middle europe.. I'm going! You asked for a favorite song and there are a whole bunch. There's a lot of very technical ones and very impressively composed ones. But if I had to pick a favorite one it would be Set The World On Fire. I just totally vibe with the relentlessness of it. Super high energy song.
Love me some LOVEBITES. "Rising" &"Shadowmaker" are my fav. I also never heard a bad song. Japan is interesting and the bands need love. I feel there plenty of unrated bands in Japan, my opinion.

In 50 yrs of listening to Rock/metal this band is easily my favorite. Not a bad song in their 60+ they have. Elite musicianship from all members. Japanese rock/metal is incredible, especially the all female bands. Deep rabbit hole, hope you venture deeper. Check out their live performances, you won't be disappointed.

It actually took me a little while to warm up to them myself when I first stumbled across them, but now I'd sell my own children for tickets to one of their concerts.

I am from Long Island, New York, and I discovered LOVEBITES last year. They are my favorite band. My favorite song from them is HOLY WAR - that was before there new bassist, Fami. On this album, Judgement Day, my favorite song is My Orion.

I became a fan very late 2020. I love telling people that they became my favourite band in the first 30 seconds of the first time I ever listened to them. Why? Because I’m 63 and I recognised the ridiculous talent immediately. My suggestion is “Awakening, Hammer of Wrath”. This version is their encore opening from their DVD “Five of a Kind” 2020. Heared some 3 songs of them, and that was it. 😂My personal favorites by them are many (because they wrote many excellent songs), but maybe especially the surprising ones, with Classical or more quiet music ("Frozen Serenade", "Edge of the world", "Swan song", "Epilogue"). And they also wrote tributes to legendary Metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Helloween. So, you see, they are very versatile, and they do it unbelievably effortlessly. And full of joy. 😄

The song that really got me to turn the corner on LOVEBITES, was their live performance of " Thunder Vengeance" live from the Zepp in Tokyo a few years ago. What killer way and song to start a concert. Plus the next song in the concert was a huge fan favorite " Holy War".

I've become quite the fan of LOVEBITES, for their sheer commitment to whatever they choose to express - classical, progressive, power metal or straight up heavy and thrash. I started my j-rock journey many, many moons ago with POLYSICS, which then expanded to embrace SCANDAL, BAND MAID, NEMOPHILA, LISA X BAND, MAXIMUM THE NORMONE, HANABIE, before falling into LOVEBITES. Their latest album "Judgement Day" is of course the first with their new bass player (Fami) and this change of personnel has brought a change in the energy and makeup of the band. Fami is a different player to their original bass player Miho. Both are phenomenal, each brings a different thing to the mix.
Welcome to Lovebites my friend. This is NOT their typical sound. This was a "made for fun" song that has a punk/funk type groove to their metal. They typically play thrash/power metal with influences from all the great bands of the past - Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Helloween, Dream Theater, DragonForce, Testament, etc. Their live shows are amazing. My favorite song by them is off their new album just released - Soldier Stands Solitarily but there is no live video or music video of the song, only a segment of their livestream when they played the entire album with the band members watching through a conference video call. A great live song/video to react to next would be "Set the World on Fire" which shows their more typical heavy thrash sound, or Holy War live which shows their power metal side. Lovebites won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band.
From one goth to another, Lovebites is totally worth it. I agree with the other commenters, Stand and Deliver is a "We are just having fun" song. The song that most people start off with is "Holy War" which I would call a "Battle Anthem". Great comet. To me this song is for them just to warm up and have fun based on the platform of 80tg or 90th, very different from other Lovebites songs. I recommend Judgement Day, Swan song, and Break the wall. For the latter two songs, please select the live versions. In this 30 years I thought I will never find a great band, but finally I faced that I was totally wrong!

As someone whose favourite subgenre is Thrash Metal, I fully second the recommendation of "The Hammer of Wrath", but especially this live performance should only be watched/listened to with the preceding intro "The Awakening" - that's also how their debut album starts -, thus right from the beginning and without the timestamp! I agree that "Stand and Deliver" is rather untypical of Lovebites' style, and while the clip is fun to watch, the song itself is not one of my faves on the new album.
I agree with @MissLoona'sSpeech. "The Hammer of Wrath" is thematically a sequel to "The Awakening". Therefore, at concerts, LOVEBITES perform them together, i.e. "The Awakening" grows into "The Hammer of Wrath" without a pause. Therefore, it is better to recommend them together.

To me this is the band giving the nod less to power metal, but more like pre-thrash. I'm thinking of Motorhead, and NWOBHM. Just about the time when bands started speeding up, but still had their roots in blues based rock.

Try holy war, edge of the world, swan song, frozen serenade, set the world on fire... they have many other amazing songs but these jump out to me. Enjoy!
You definitely should take more days off. No one wants you to be worn out or worn down. Edit after finishing the video: I agree, I'm also not fully sold on this band. Very skilled musicians, but it doesn't quite speak to me. More importantly: So many reaction channels are seemingly "blown away" by everything they see, but honesty is more important than enthusiasm, and you just proved that you are honest by daring to be less than blown away. I don't know what your favourite metal subgenres are, but if your impression is only based on this song, be aware that this is one of their least typical songs. I consider myself a huge fan of them, but I'm not "blown away" by this song, either. Parts of this song remind me of Motörhead, and while I respect them and especially Lemmy (RIP), I've never been a fan of their music. It's not bad, but nothing I'd listen to for myself.

To be clear, I've listened to most of what Lovebites have up on RUclips at least, and I can enjoy it, just not as much as some other hard rock/metal bands. Started listening to Lovebites back in December. The first song was Thunder Vengeance, the intro song for Five of a Kind concert in 2020. That whole concert rocks like crazy and is non-stop. But Thunder Vengeance, The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath, Holy War, MDO, Raise Some Hell, Break the Wall and the others from this concert are awesome. Never stopped listening to them since. The new album is a whole new level. I like the last song, soldier Stands Solidarity where the drummer does around 185 beats a minute. I just hope I get a chance to see them in concert and experience them in person.

My favorite Lovebites song has to be When Destinies Align. I do highly recommend checking out some of their live videos, as well as their other most-recent music video, for Judgement Day. They tend to play a mix of thrash metal and power metal, and this song is pretty far to the thrash end of things.

Ash, totally fine to be honest, you can't LOVE every band and every song. I will admit that I too wasn't sold on Lovebites when I first heard them a couple years ago. But I ran across them again last fall, and after listening to them multiple times now, they are growing on me, and I actually really like their latest album. Also, before you give up on them, try their other new video " Judgement Day" , see if that is more your sound. If not, not harm no foul.

Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018. 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. As a Nightwish/Floor fan I saw Lovebites through various reactors and certainly they sound excellent live. They only recently acquired the new bassist and this is one of two released videos that feature her. Well worth listening to live but personally I use closed captions as the English vocals are tricky. There are so many great all female Japanese bands. Maybe try Nemophila, Band Maid or Gacharic Spin.
My 1st listen. I'd need to hear more. Agree live would be good. Very punky. Certainly listenable. Punk rock/thrash lends to shorter songs. They could have been shorter on this and had a better effect. The intensity and lack of varition left it about 30sec too long, I felt. Apologies to fans. It's just a random dude's opinion. Will give them future listens, though. Loved the vocal potential, and the soloists shreaded it up. 🤘😎

Flippin' heck (as we say here in the UK)!! First Nightwish, Babymetal and now Lovebites - we are definitely spoiled!😊 Lovebites are extremely talented musicians - they are heavily influenced by Motorhead , Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon etc so mostly NWOBH Bands (New Wave of British Heavy Metal Bands) - a lot of American reviewers list American bands as influences but they weren't to know that those American bands were influenced themselves by the British bands😂! I totally understand - music is very subjective as I'm sure you'll agree - but as you rightly said, live performance separates the men from the boys - and so a couple of songs from their gig at Zepp Divercity in Tokyo will suffice - I recommend 'Swansong' which has to include the Chopin piano 🎹 intro. Plus maybe 'Holy War' from the same concert! Power Metal might not be your thing, but thanks very much for showcasing them! I'm a new subscriber and I have many other excellent Symphonic Metal bands to recommend if you love Nightwish! That's for another time though - I wish you all the best 😊

I first heard the band back in November.. and then I immediately starting kicking myself for not starting sooner. It's really my kind of power metal. I also love the killer dual guitar solos in nearly every song they do. The talent in every member of the band is incredible.
'Holy War' Live at Zepp Divercity Tokyo 2020 was my first song, and it's an excellent starter, but there's plenty more from that concert. 'Thunder Vengeance' and 'Raise Some Hell' and 'Swan Song' are all excellent.
The band usually wears elegant white dresses when they perform, both live and in music videos, but it looks like they just walked in off the streets in their everyday clothes in this video. The white seems to contrast with the all black clothing worn by the ladies in other all-women Japanese bands.
First of all, Lovebites is not a power metal band, in several interviews, they never mentioned anything that has to do with power metal. They consider themselves the Lone Wolf of heavy metal, hence the wolf pack name for the fan base. They are a very diverse band that includes progressive metal, hard rock, thrash metal, and power ballads which all are incorporated with the classical elements.
I don't remember hearing a band in the last decade or so that I clicked with as instantly as I clicked with Lovebites. Not especially all the stuff from the newest album, but that might change as soon as they have some live footage out. I like all of their stuff better live than from the studio. I've got all their live blurays and if they're ever near my area... basically anywhere in middle europe.. I'm going!
You asked for a favorite song and there are a whole bunch. There's a lot of very technical ones and very impressively composed ones. But if I had to pick a favorite one it would be Set The World On Fire. I just totally vibe with the relentlessness of it. Super high energy song.

I'm part of the Wolfpack...tehir bringing back the 80's power metal...very skilled musicians...awesome or sugoi¡¡...Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Helloween, This song obviously Motorhead...so many influences it´s a group with two lead guitarrist and their harmonys live blown me away...songs like Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Set the world on fire, Soldier and Solitarlily from the last album...sold...amazing group...
In 50 yrs of listening to Rock/metal this band is easily my favorite. Not a bad song in their 60+ they have. Elite musicianship from all members. Japanese rock/metal is incredible, especially the all female bands. Deep rabbit hole, hope you venture deeper. Check out their live performances, you won't be disappointed.

Lovebites plays many different styles of heavy metal - power, thrash, speed, progressive, symphonic, rock, ballads, and NWOBHM inspired. A phenomenal band made up of phenomenal musicians. Midori and Miyako are one of the greatest guitar duos of all time you will discover as you dive into their catalog.
Lovebites is my number 1 band ever, I was a little slow on the adaptation but when it bites you it bites hard. Lovebites forever!

I became a fan very late 2020. I love telling people that they became my favourite band in the first 30 seconds of the first time I ever listened to them. Why? Because I’m 63 and I recognised the ridiculous talent immediately. My suggestion is “Awakening, Hammer of Wrath”. This version is their encore opening from their DVD “Five of a Kind” 2020. This band is as good live as in the studio. If you’re not sold on them after this you are beyond redemption! Nice reaction though.

You will probably experience a flood of song recommendations concerning Lovebites. I became a huge fan 4 weeks ago. Heared some 3 songs of them, and that was it. 😂My personal favorites by them are many (because they wrote many excellent songs), but maybe especially the surprising ones, with Classical or more quiet music ("Frozen Serenade", "Edge of the world", "Swan song", "Epilogue"). And they also wrote tributes to legendary Metal bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden and Helloween. So, you see, they are very versatile, and they do it unbelievably effortlessly. And full of joy. 😄

Lovebites are one of the most musically talented metal bands on the planet. Their musicianship is elite and their songwriting is brilliant.
I've become quite the fan of LOVEBITES, for their sheer commitment to whatever they choose to express - classical, progressive, power metal or straight up heavy and thrash. I started my j-rock journey many, many moons ago with POLYSICS, which then expanded to embrace SCANDAL, BAND MAID, NEMOPHILA, LISA X BAND, MAXIMUM THE NORMONE, HANABIE, before falling into LOVEBITES. Their latest album "Judgement Day" is of course the first with their new bass player (Fami) and this change of personnel has brought a change in the energy and makeup of the band. Fami is a different player to their original bass player Miho. Both are phenomenal, each brings a different thing to the mix.

Welcome to Lovebites my friend. This is NOT their typical sound. This was a "made for fun" song that has a punk/funk type groove to their metal. They typically play thrash/power metal with influences from all the great bands of the past - Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Helloween, Dream Theater, DragonForce, Testament, etc. Their live shows are amazing. My favorite song by them is off their new album just released - Soldier Stands Solitarily but there is no live video or music video of the song, only a segment of their livestream when they played the entire album with the band members watching through a conference video call. A great live song/video to react to next would be "Set the World on Fire" which shows their more typical heavy thrash sound, or Holy War live which shows their power metal side. Lovebites won the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band.

The song that most people start off with is "Holy War" which I would call a "Battle Anthem". Great comet. To me this song is for them just to warm up and have fun based on the platform of 80tg or 90th, very different from other Lovebites songs. I recommend Judgement Day, Swan song, and Break the wall. For the latter two songs, please select the live versions. As someone whose favourite subgenre is Thrash Metal, I fully second the recommendation of "The Hammer of Wrath", but especially this live performance should only be watched/listened to with the preceding intro "The Awakening" - that's also how their debut album starts -, thus right from the beginning and without the timestamp! I agree that "Stand and Deliver" is rather untypical of Lovebites' style, and while the clip is fun to watch, the song itself is not one of my faves on the new album.
I agree with @MissLoona'sSpeech. "The Hammer of Wrath" is thematically a sequel to "The Awakening". Therefore, at concerts, LOVEBITES perform them together, i.e. "The Awakening" grows into "The Hammer of Wrath" without a pause. Therefore, it is better to recommend them together.

To me this is the band giving the nod less to power metal, but more like pre-thrash. I'm thinking of Motorhead, and NWOBHM. Just about the time when bands started speeding up, but still had their roots in blues based rock.
Discovered them a few months ago and got their new EP, incredible musicians, especially Asami the singer and Miyako the dark haired guitarist who is also a classically trained pianist, their huge Iron Maiden fans which you can kind of get in some of their solos.....ooooh! hi Ash! lovebites is a special band to me. These ladies are all supertalented and yeah, most of their songs tend to be ... relentless :-). Live is indeed better though. Try holy war, edge of the world, swan song, frozen serenade, set the world on fire... they have many other amazing songs but these jump out to me. Enjoy!

Edit after finishing the video: I agree, I'm also not fully sold on this band. Very skilled musicians, but it doesn't quite speak to me. More importantly: So many reaction channels are seemingly "blown away" by everything they see, but honesty is more important than enthusiasm, and you just proved that you are honest by daring to be less than blown away. Kudos to you!
I don't know what your favourite metal subgenres are, but if your impression is only based on this song, be aware that this is one of their least typical songs. I consider myself a huge fan of them, but I'm not "blown away" by this song, either. Parts of this song remind me of Motörhead, and while I respect them and especially Lemmy (RIP), I've never been a fan of their music. It's not bad, but nothing I'd listen to for myself.
@@MissLoonasSpeech I listen to a lot of different music, including metal and hard rock. To be clear, I've listened to most of what Lovebites have up on RUclips at least, and I can enjoy it, just not as much as some other hard rock/metal bands.

Started listening to Lovebites back in December. The first song was Thunder Vengeance, the intro song for Five of a Kind concert in 2020. That whole concert rocks like crazy and is non-stop. But Thunder Vengeance, The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath, Holy War, MDO, Raise Some Hell, Break the Wall and the others from this concert are awesome. Never stopped listening to them since. The new album is a whole new level. I like the last song, soldier Stands Solidarity where the drummer does around 185 beats a minute. I just hope I get a chance to see them in concert and experience them in person.

My favorite Lovebites song has to be When Destinies Align. I do highly recommend checking out some of their live videos, as well as their other most-recent music video, for Judgement Day. They tend to play a mix of thrash metal and power metal, and this song is pretty far to the thrash end of things.
Long time Lovebites fan… killer band live. Try “Swan Song (w/Chopin intro)”.
I like everything they've ever played. But if you had to push me on a favourite then I'd go for Break the Wall by a short head from several others.
I would choose Swan Song for the first one , then Thunder Vengeance , Raise some Hell .
Try them live it will but it will be with previous bass. Holy War and Swan Song the latter with the Chopin intro.On stage they world class and I mean class.

Ash, totally fine to be honest, you can't LOVE every band and every song.
I will admit that I too wasn't sold on Lovebites when I first heard them a couple years ago. But I ran across them again last fall, and after listening to them multiple times now, they are growing on me, and I actually really like their latest album.
Also, before you give up on them, try their other new video " Judgement Day" , see if that is more your sound. If not, not harm no foul.

Thank you for this reaction video. Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018.

In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward.

As a Nightwish/Floor fan I saw Lovebites through various reactors and certainly they sound excellent live. They only recently acquired the new bassist and this is one of two released videos that feature her. Well worth listening to live but personally I use closed captions as the English vocals are tricky. There are so many great all female Japanese bands. Maybe try Nemophila, Band Maid or Gacharic Spin.

Punk rock/thrash lends to shorter songs. They could have been shorter on this and had a better effect. The intensity and lack of varition left it about 30sec too long, I felt.

Flippin' heck (as we say here in the UK)!! First Nightwish, Babymetal and now Lovebites - we are definitely spoiled!😊 Lovebites are extremely talented musicians - they are heavily influenced by Motorhead , Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon etc so mostly NWOBH Bands (New Wave of British Heavy Metal Bands) - a lot of American reviewers list American bands as influences but they weren't to know that those American bands were influenced themselves by the British bands😂! I totally understand - music is very subjective as I'm sure you'll agree - but as you rightly said, live performance separates the men from the boys - and so a couple of songs from their gig at Zepp Divercity in Tokyo will suffice - I recommend 'Swansong' which has to include the Chopin piano 🎹 intro. Plus maybe 'Holy War' from the same concert! Power Metal might not be your thing, but thanks very much for showcasing them! I'm a new subscriber and I have many other excellent Symphonic Metal bands to recommend if you love Nightwish! That's for another time though - I wish you all the best 😊
