Ultimately it's nice to own a few guitars - and the vibe they impart is an important aspect of inspiration. This is a useful tool but I'll keep my collection - thanks!
I love these guitars! I have the 59 and the 69 and two old 600's. No issues with these guitar what so ever. I use them on all my recordings and they are great for live.
Sean this video answered my question about controllability of it all with the HD500 that I posed on another video of yours. Man you are one hell of a picker!
I know for a fact that this could be my main gigging guitar were I to purchase one and come tax time, I plan on buying one. I've been watching different video demos of this excellent instrument and I am very very impressed with it's versatility. Can't wait to get mine!
I Have one and I absolutly love it! (all black strat model) Plays great, sounds great. and it saves me from having to bring diffrent guitars just for diffrent tunings. it plays as good as any guitar I own (and I have 30 of all the dream guitars you'd want!) Plus you can customize sounds in the order you'd like for playing live. If you on the fence don't be you won't regret it. P.S. I don't work for line 6.
At laaaaast!!! Someone that know how to play sitar simulator with the right scales!!!!! Not only pentatonic!! Shankar itself!!!! Thank you man, this axe is amazing!!!
Amazing guitar. The sitar and 12 string models are really good fun. And the altered tunings at the flick of a switch are incredible. You actually never need a capo! Imagine that. You have a virtual capo feature. Wow! Rock on Line 6 !
@theSartaajHussain The guitar itself is available in three different body shapes, and they are all physically six-stringed instruments. However, with the instant altered tuning, you could easily recreate the behavior of a seven string guitar on the fly.
I just improvised that intro - as I do for all of these things - but I'm getting ready to record some live trio stuff here in a few months. I'll post on my website and FB when it's ready, and there should be some stuff on there that has a similar vibe.
@chrisbrown18andup Hi Chris, these are available in several locations, depending on what you are interested in just check them out at these retailers: line6 (dot) com/dealers/ choose JTV in the product dropdown. Thanks!
I'm real happy to find these, and I know an establsihed player that has one and loves it. I am really serious about buying one. I am concerned about palm muting as I play fingerstyle Chet style
I think this a great idea. You can get all sorts of effects and sounds from many instruments (let alone guitars), that you'd otherwise have to spend hundreds of dollars on. I will say this, though; I choose and play my guitars for their specific voice. If I wanted my setup to sound exactly like another musicians, I'd get something like this, or the "exact" gear. But, I don't. IMO it's a great idea, and seems like a lot of fun, but it's holding back the individuality of the instrument.
Very nice video and playing and tone during the intro. I'd love to try one of these just for curiosity sake. If I was doing more recording, or doing more open tunings live, this would be perfect guitar. My only dislike is the headstock, looks a little "department store'ish" but overall, great instrument. Love Line6 products, have a bunch and the G90 system- You guys are really doing some great things for musicians -Thank you!
Hi Sean, I am hoping to sell 3 of my guitars to raise funds for this model but am slightly concerned about this demo because of the presence of the foot pedal making it hard to know what is the guitar and what is the added technology. via the pedal. Can you enlighten me on this before I take the plunge.
Hey, a bit confused. Does this guitar come with the foot pedal switch thing he is using in the video? Is that how you change the sound? He doesn't mention it in the video. I can't find any information about this.
I agree, the shape of the headstock should reflect the body of the guitar, regarding angles and curves, creating a balanced total image. At least that is my humble opinion..
Hi ! After having had a Line6 Variax, I've selled it, but with the idea of buying a better one later. I've watched some videos to hear the different sounds, and I can say that they were souding well. but I got a question ; the Variax that I had didn't had magnetic pick-ups, only piezo ;is there piezo(s) on this new Variax? thanks by advance. BYE !
What is going on. Remarkable. More tech details would be nice. Does it have midi hex PU? If not then how's it triggering those tones. Or are they created with modelling & or processing rather than midi sounds? In which case any guitar would do this plugged into the modelling pedal surely? Is the acoustic tone from a piezo PU? See there's loads of info you need to give, but you haven't 🤔
@t75ftw Totally appreciate your opinion, glad you gave it a try. If you have any feedback, Product Development welcomes it at line6 (dot) com/pdfeedback Thanks!
All the POD HDs should have had the VDI interface. It's only available on the HD500 model. It would have also been nice to have seen this incorporated into Line 6's wireless systems. I have a Variax. I love it and it's my main axe. But perhaps if Line 6 would stop treating it like a limited experiment themselves, more guitarists would take it seriously as well
Idea! if you write james tyler on the head stock more and make a vintage head stock more metal you can loos more customers. but that guitar is sick I want a black one.
I love the features but I'm also disappointed that it doesn't have a maple neck option. I got a Variax 600 and i love the neck/fretboard. Other than that it's perfect.
Just needs a built in synthesizer like the Roland GR-55 and it'd be perfect. Still probably would get a Variax over a GR-55, the models and features on the Variax and the fact it's all in the guitar still beat it even if it doesn't have a synth feature.
Fantastic instrument, but if Line 6 really want a more players buying a Variax ...PLEASE develop a left-handed version!!! This has to be the only guitar that we lefties can't do a "Jimi" and turn a Righty upside down, so PLEASE Line 6 ... Let's have a Lefty Variax!!!!!
As a long time builder/luthier, I have created guitars that are " all inclusive" and "do everything". I never liked too many bells and whistles and now focus on building "kiss" instruments - mostly single pickup models (like Phil X loves) and are purpose oriented. Sorry.
Why? Music has been around since the beginning of civilization. Most of the greatest music was created from the 14th to the 20th Centuries. Music is an art, not a science. I will never abandon my acoustic Taylor and Martin, nor my electric Les Pauls, Fender starts, or what I call my new tech guitar, my PRS Custom 24. I can pick any one of my many guitars, hold it for a few minutes so it becomes part of me, and the environment, and play every one with the same feeling and they feel all the same to me. Music is "Sound." It is Analog, period. Sound is Sound is Analog. I use a Pro Tools DAW, yes, but, through all analog front end pres, compressors, and EFX. I owned a Line 6 rack mount 'modeling' unit, the top of the line model, and it just couldn't get that 'real' sound of an electric guitar through a great tube amp. Until, Avid's ElevenRack. It is way beyond Line 6, and way beyond its time and the Variax. It isn't a 'modeler' it is a "duplicator." The tones are magical, with the sound of an amp being micd. I use it for my scratch guitar tracks even so. Then I mike my Bogner modified Marshall to lay down the 'keeper' track. Sometimes, I'll even mix the ElevenRack's solo with the mic'd solo if the E-racks solo is just too good and inspired to not use. What's next, a machine that sings lead vocals for you. Even if it came to that, what's the point. Music is to be 'Played.' Playing. Like a kid in a sand box. So, again, why would I want to stop playing like I did as a child. That is how playing guitar feels to me. Immersed in a bubble of sound and feel with the energy of the crowd or the inspiration of a great recording your playing to. I'm sure the Variax is an amazing piece of technology, and it sounds great!, But, man, I love guitars. I love to just look at my collection and the beauty of the had made instruments hanging in my studio. There all like paintings, from Di Vinci or Michael Angelo. Wow. Why would I ever want just one guitar that is most likely created on an assembly line, even with its 28 sounds? Where has all he "Great Music gone?" Soon we'll be asking, "Where have all the beautiful hand made Guitars gone?" And finally, where has all the heart and soul that created such magnificently inspiring music gone? I pray it never comes to that. I for one will still be playing my Les Paul and start, etc... when we have 'flying cars', and hotels on Mars. And if I ever go to that hotel on Mars, and if they ever want a band to perform on Mars, it'll be with my 'real guitars.' I'm also a scientist, and love physics, and space. so I say, respectfully, "keep shooting for the future's unknown and discoveries that we're once magic, until there figured out, understood, built and used to go further, faster, and higher that anyone has ever gone before, "like Gordo Cooper in "The Right Stuff," "and for one brief moment, Gordo was the greatest pilot anyone had ever seen." Rock on flyers and players, an on and on. Regards, TommyRad. Musician/Airline Pilot/artist/master alpine skier/surfer/and much more. Live it, Dig it. Fear it, and move on.
Music is art it relates the heart and not the mind Music is connecting my heart to my listeners As long as I can connect I'll gladly use any tool available If your music can't be felt, it means nothing
Well dude well said and quite true you could have a rock a stick and a hollow log to beat on too if that's all you had,it's the soul you put into what you love to do no matter what your limitations whether you have a million dollar studio and the education and the means or your a regular joe like me who had to bust his ass all his life to get it,I don't have les Paul's or martins but I got reverends and breedloves and a semi pro home studio with a lot of goodies, the best thing I've ever had was given to me freely, is the God given talent to know how to make music wether I had a 4000$ PRS or a pawn shop 100 special, it's what you put into it that matters your heart and soul, the freedom to express your spirit by any means necessary, rock on dude!
Oh hell, I thought I was done buying guitars. Anyone want to buy a vintage 1963 fully restored Fender Twin Reverb? I need a Variax and the taxman took all my disposable coinage.
If you really wanted people to play this guitar, you would make it left handed as well. But, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Real guitar companies make guitars for lefties as well (I.E. Martin, Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Ibanez)

95% of the time, all I take are my Variax and my POD HD500 to gigs. You'll love it!

Absolutely. Exciting things are afoot.
looks interesting would be really curious to try one!

@jordancooperlalala No..... thats a HD 500 pedal board amp simulator and multi-effects
@theSartaajHussain

It's ablosutely better than any other instrument, even better than my american stratocaster when switched to the strat mode!
@1971Goldtop Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
We introduced a maple fretboard with the release of the JTV 69s - check out the Line 6 website for some images. It came out great!
pure awesomeness...
COOL Guitar!......anywai....i got small hands....just want to know if the neck of this guitar is thin or thick?
thanks
Hey, a bit confused. Does this guitar come with the foot pedal switch thing he is using in the video? Is that how you change the sound? He doesn't mention it in the video. I can't find any information about this.
@RadarLove158
All three guitars in the video are stock Korean versions.
I agree, the shape of the headstock should reflect the body of the guitar, regarding angles and curves, creating a balanced total image. At least that is my humble opinion..
terrific!
any news concerning new variax BASS?
thanks for sharing
hi sean, do you think the line 6 may be preparing further improvements and updates to jtv? thanks
Awesome guitar

See there's loads of info you need to give, but you haven't 🤔
Are there any left-handed models available?
Hey Sean great job !!! Any chance of a new Variax Bass ?
don't think there's a guitar in the planet which i currently want more!
i want it! NOW
Sean, there is much difference between the timbre of JTV model 69 Korean and the US?
Antônio Pereira Júnior Not at all, Antonio - they are nearly identical, as the electronics are the same. Hope that helps...
@c3llfi5h
Sure - I did a session the other day with the guitar tuned down an octave - crunch metal in Bb.
@t75ftw Totally appreciate your opinion, glad you gave it a try. If you have any feedback, Product Development welcomes it at line6 (dot) com/pdfeedback Thanks!

We introduced a maple fretboard on the JTV 69s a few months ago - check out our website for pictures. It came out great!
@teamlowe21 Hi, Thanks so much for the feedback. I will definitely be passing along your feedback to our Product Development team.
@arecha55 Sorry to hear you don't like the headstock. Product Development welcomes feedback at line6 (dot) com/pdfeedback Thanks.

I actually love Variax. The only thing that held me back was the fact that there is no way to change models remotely without a POD. :(
will it tune so low like an 8-string?(like for playng meshuggah stuff)
Just needs a built in synthesizer like the Roland GR-55 and it'd be perfect. Still probably would get a Variax over a GR-55, the models and features on the Variax and the fact it's all in the guitar still beat it even if it doesn't have a synth feature.

Can direct connect to firehawk 1500
@teerexness Hi, thanks for the feedback. Product Development welcomes all feedback at line6 (dot) com/pdfeedback/ Thanks!
@krazeemanfrochina Can not agree with that comment, depends on what sound is needed. And many guitars out there that aren't Les Pauls that are great.
Who's playing in the clip? He's a bad ass!
0:30 "25 vintage instruments all at the same time" uhhhh nope.
I can haz 7 string Variax?
There is a lot of beef on tuning knob looking like a top hat. Maybe they should just match the color of it with the pick guard.
Line 6 should try to make one with a floyd rose.
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is this just midi and samples
@paulgaudinjrBCN Couldn't agree more.
When he switched it to the acoustic I nearly shit my pants. I haven't heard an electric mimic and acoustic so well.
👍
@hsuchieh1007
See the video info. :-)

I wonder how many people said the electric guitar was an abomination to acoustics when it was invented. Technophobia is overrated.
Oh hell, I thought I was done buying guitars. Anyone want to buy a vintage 1963 fully restored Fender Twin Reverb? I need a Variax and the taxman took all my disposable coinage.

this guitar is an abomination
Just want to thank Sean Halley for all the great videos demonstrating the versatility of this guitar my JTV 69 Lake Placid Blue comes in tomorrow hopefully before noon cant wait, and should be getting my X3L replacement of an HD 500 by Wednesday.
