Catching up on some old videos, really nice job!
Thank you so much 😊
Nice work! I wonder how a regular cigarette ashtray would work. If it would have to be fully metal on bottom. I’d have to look that up.
As long as you use the stainless snuff you could use it for cigarettes I guess
Thanks for watching and commenting
Looks really nice. I may have to make some myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you for the view and kind words...would love to see your spin on this 👍
Very nice! It holds a lot more ashes than mine does. :)
Thank you for the view and appreciate the kind words!
That's a cool looking piece! Love end grain turns...can be a bit challenging but always worth the pay-off. Top work Luie 😁👍
Thank you so much!
Looks good, Luie!
Billy
Thanks for the kind words!
Great job 👍
Thanks !!!
Great video and great turn out 👍👍and maybe you could try using hot clue on the out side of the crack to prevent the epoxy from leaking out.
Thanks for the watch and the sub!
Great idea with the hot glue I will keep that in mind👍
What a great idea for a Christmas present! I have made several cigarette ashtrays out of poplar but this one is much more beautiful although perhaps a bit big. Could you elaborate a bit on the actual dimensions?
Too bad I do not have a drum sander to make the coves like you did. Ths far, my ashtrays don't have any.
To something similar, I'm thinking of drilling 3/4 inch holes with a spade bit and then work the edge down.
Doing it that way it will be hard to have them all at the same depth but I can try.
Thnx for the inspiration!
Hello and thank you Leo,
Your kind words are appreciated.
This cigar ashtray is gone but the Approximate measurements were 8 inches wide and maybe 4 inches tall.
I have used your idea in the past of drilling holes first and it worked out ok....but like you said not always perfectly even
Thanks again!!
what does the
pressure pot do to the wood?
It removes the bubbles from the epoxy.
Well it really doesn't remove them it pressure them so small you can't see them👍😎
Id be very interested in buying one and possibly more depending on price. Would be shipped to Minnesota.

Nice work, Luie! May I ask for your source on the metal snuffer discs? That’s a very nice touch! Thanks for sharing.
I worked in a metal stamping factory for years and this was scrap.
If you can find a local metal stamper he may give you a bucket full for a song or even less
Did you make hole in the bottom of the wood for connecting it to the lathe?
Yes I turned a recess to attach to the chuck...Thanks for the view and comment 👍
Thanks I really like the video ! Keep creating 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks
If you watch around 3:05 I show making the recess for putting in the chuck👍
Looks great! How much? lmao
Hello,
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Do you live in the USA?
(Shipping reasons)
Nice, but some say it’s a disgrace to snuff out a cigar, you’re supposed to let it die naturally.
Thank you for watching and the cigar culture👍😎
