ABOUT BRIAN ASHA
Brian Asha is a Canadian vocalist, songwriter and music producer. His newest recordings feature sounds in electronic dance music, alternative rock and retro pop, delivered with his unique, intimate vocal style. As a DJ, he is known for his diverse playlists that create the perfect vibe for discerning nightclubs, lounges and special events.
In the 1980s, Brian was part of the alternative music scene centred around Queen Street West in Toronto that produced Cowboy Junkies, Blue Rodeo, Barenaked Ladies and more recently Broken Social Scene and Metric.
Brian grew up in the Caribbean, East Africa and the UK; his international background inspired him to fuse rock, reggae, and dance music years before it was a thing. Check out his 1986 single, "Liquid Soul Explosion," on RUclips.
In the 90's, Brian Asha helped pioneer Canada's underground rave scene in Toronto and Montreal, one of the biggest in North America. His DJ cooperative, House of Euphoria, was a fusion of sexy performance art and psychedelic visuals. He was profiled in Canadian media and on CNN as part of the emerging cyberpunk movement.
Since that time, Brian has worked extensively in online media as a creative director and media producer under his professional name, E. Brian Johnson. He is a Canadian internet pioneer.
In his 60th year, Brian's ability to reinvent himself reminds us it's always possible to embrace your passion, pursue your dreams and create a fulfilling life on your own terms.
