    VampS *popularized* the genre.
Magic Survival came before VampS. The dev stated that he was inspired by Magic Survival when he played it.

@@moarningsLost Hey, Magic Survival was a pretty good game. Sad that I can no longer find it on the Play Store.
(Edit: I swear there was a time that I searched for MS on Google Play and it returned a cheap replica of it and not the original. I stand corrected by the gentleman downstairs.)

I love this genre! Even before it exists, I love playing those game with large number of squishy enemies, we used to call them “grass cutting game.” One of them which I recommend is Path of Exile, it is free to play, and the microtransaction is cosmetic only. Although the number of enemies can't compare to modern bullet heaven games, it being not a rogue-like provides room for finer build refinement and synergy stacking. An optimized build is INSANE compared to a build you finish the story with.

This video feels like how I would want to approach the subject if I did the video. I think we have a lot in common in how we think about gaming. Well done btw

This video is a gold mine! Thank you for the great introduction to the genre, I stumbled upon this video by chance, and now I found not only a one great game but a whole genre!
Only played Vampire survivors since I just found the video yesterday but bought brotato, death must die and halls of torment too. Do you have a suggestion order of what to play? I want to keep death must die to the last though, since it looks like the most polished one to me.

      @MoreRespawn  7 месяцев назад +2

Ohhh you are in for a treat! Welcome to an addiction. Honestly, the order doesn't really matter much. They all bring a differing experience. Vampire Survivors I think is a good one to start with to see where they all mainly came from. From there, go crazy, and have fun.
I have been playing more of the Death Must Die update since this video and its really good.

I’m making one right now in the Godot engine. It’s been very easy to work with so far. Maybe when it’s released (won’t be too soon I imagine but progress is steady) you will check it out. It has a cryptid theme and I’ve been working on sprites last week and this week I’m working on programming. Watching these videos because I’m curious what things people love about the genre outside my own loves for it. Great video ❤

Soulstone Survivors is peak bullet heaven in my opinion. From phenomenal QoL like being able to tone down skill effect visuals so you can actually see enemies, to an innumerable amount of skills - 100+. Each character has a skill tree and if you like your build, you can transition to an endless mode for more resources / exp.
Yet Another Zombie Survivors is also a fun one with zombies and different characters with preset skills that you level up.
Spell Brigade is a fun coop one with up to 4 players. Haven't played many others with actual coop so this is the one we play together. I wouldn't play it solo over other games, but friends make it well worth it.

Time Wasters is another good one, though development on it has finished so no more updates. Still great though, fun one in space with some nice customization. Think I may actually play this in a bit as it's been a few
Slime 3k.. Eh for me. Wasn't a fan. It has an interesting mechanic of building out your deck of buffs but from playing it ~8 hours it feels like you're making a deck to beat each stage. I prefer the normal playstyle of survival games.
      Nordic Ashes was neat
Nimrod is okay. Can do some pretty fun stuff but there's something missing at this point and I can't quite put my finger on it. I still play it once a week but it doesn't have that "one more run" grab.

Started with brotato and got into vampire survivors from there. Still struggling to clear Danger 3 on most brotato characters but it's so addictive! Now looking for more games like these on xbox...

I've been reading that more games like this are starting to be poeted to console. Hopefully it happens sooner than later. I know Halls of Torment was working on a console port a few months ago. No new news yet though.
