As a white south african, the fact that you got so happy when you saw Mandela (Madiba, Tata) my eyes started watering ❤️

The reason why he didn’t grab it is because he thought it was going out, that kind of bounce is rare to happen so it’s pre much called a magic bounce for the second legend💯🙏🏽

Greatest game ever is from "That Try" - Barbarians v All Blacks 1973. Just unbelievable skill levels from both sides at a time when they were all amateurs, there was no technology, training was a pint the night before the game, and the ball was a pigs bladder.

In terms of that moment with Nelson Mandela, the film invictus does a decent job at explaining the political and social importance of South Africa winning that 1995 World Cup, great vids keep it up

04:05 - Had the defender touched it down in his own end-zone, play is stopped dead and the defending team gets a set piece known as a "drop-out" to kick it away. The defender was waiting for the ball to cross into the end-zone to tap it down, but misjudged how much time he had (and/or the ball didn't quite bounce in his favour) and the attacker was able to get there and touch it down before he could.
10:22 - It's not a try until you've put it down. Simply crossing the goal line isn't a try - it's only a try when it's put down with downward pressure, which is why players often dive on top of it to make sure any last minute tackles/slips etc don't cause them to lose the ball.

Greatest moments because of the situation. Scores in overtime to win important games for example.

If you haven’t seen it you have to watch the movie ‘invictus’ starring Morgan Freeman (as Nelson Mandela) and Matt Damon. It’s about the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa and its role in healing post-apartheid South Africa. It’s a brilliant film about one of the most important sporting achievements in history. It’s hard to overstate just how important and event it was in South African history. You gotta check it out, you won’t regret it!

fyi there's 80 minutes in a rugby game, not 90. Also a Dan Carter reaction would be great.

He was actually waiting for the ball to go over the trie line so he could put it down himself and the get a free drop kick from the 22 metre line

  • @roddywatson4096

And the second one would be a knock on 5 metre scram for the red and white team

A game is 80 minutes long, so those were all in extra ( injury) time. Dan Carter is possibly the greatest player of all time. If you ask a 100 people to vote for their best player of the modern era, atleast 80 of then would say Carter and the rest will be split between McCaw and Wilkinson

@@cathalmcguinne513 BOD was great, but not even close to being in their class mate. He would be in the same company as Habana, Nonu, Shane Williams and John Eales, all great legends but there is one step higher and that is the holy trinity of Carter, Wilkinson and McCaw.

The dude near the start was waiting for it to go out in goal. That’s a restart from the 20 metre line to the defending team

  • @timnewman7591

When Freddie Burns lost the ball over the line after celebrating and not putting it down in time, it was the difference between his side getting 5 (probably 7 with the conversion) points and 0 points with the other team getting to kick the ball a long way down field from their 22m line. Considering it was late in the game and the score was very close, and he'd just missed a penalty that would have put his side ahead - yeah, it's not surprising he was on the ground holding his head. Pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
Watching France is incredibly frustrating, because sometimes they score tries like that one against New Zealand (which meant they won the series in New Zealand, and not many teams do that) or the one where they went from behind their own try line to score against England, and other times they're frankly awful and look like the players don't want to win. Though a "French Flair/Best French Tries" video will give an idea of what they're like when they really play well.

Old mate doesn't need new knees an 17.30. He has tape above his knees to be lifted in a line out. May still need new elbows though

There's only 80 minutes in a rugby game. When you see the clock higher than 80 and in the red it means its the final play. Whatever happens in that play, when it ends the game ends. So the Japan try, All Blacks try etc were all in the final play of the game.
