That was really nice, very pleased for you (you're getting more Geoff by the week) - but how can you have NEVER RIDDEN A CLASS 323 BEFORE? By the way, that 'technical glitch' - they discovered that if you say "323 232" three times, Beetlejuice appears and drives the train...obviously not a good idea.
Geoff Marshall did his own voice announcement on Thameslink. I think it’s brilliant to donate your own voice to a train operator that can use a human’s voice announcement on trains and at railway stations. Plus I do think that Northern should inherit the rest of the Class 323s from West Midlands Railway.
I once said, your voice is awesome. And it seems, I was correct. So clear to understand, and distinguishing English. I am happy for you. Might look like a small thing, but you can be proud.
Well done Nick. I will definitely have to travel to Manchester on a class 323 in the next month so I can hear that announcement. Hope Northern let you do a pointless to free of charge
Congratulations on becoming the Voice of the North. (I'm assuming Jen hasn't done this yet, so does that mean you have won another race?!) A very long time ago (1983!) I was leading a student group on the Dover to Dunkirk train ferry. Because of a strike we were diverted to Calais and there was then a problem getting our coaches added to the train. So I got to make an announcement in English over the PA at a French railway station. I was even aloud to make the jingle sound before speaking!
That's so very cool, weird to think this happened so soon after you got started and before Jen has had this opportunity (as far as I know). Also I was going to pass through Piccadilly on October 1st, guess I'll plan to transfer through Victoria lol.
I got the chance to do a radio advert for the college I went to just after I left back in 2014. Sadly I never got to hear it be played out on the radio, although I did catch the end i think of it once
my friends at school secretly recorded me singing hey joe before i even started to learn the guitar.when i heard it,it sounded like somebody with severe brain damage and serious problems.i was absolutely horrified.there also used to be a full length mirror on the corner.after joking around in class,,if we had a class in the middle block ,i would catch a glimpse of my reflection .i would be shocked and in class,i would always go quiet for about half an hour before slowly forgetting the reality of my situation.i think that that gives you some idea of what i would be like ,running the tannoy!
I've got a story about a 323. I was getting a train to lea green were I live on a northern rail 323 and I got to Wavertree Technonagy park and the train accelerated then stopped. And then is happened again. Then again. And then we moved and then we got to Roby and it happened again. Accelerate stop it happened 5 times. And then we were sat on a stopped train with the doors shut and then the announcer was saying we were at whiston and huyton even though we were still at Roby. 20 munites later, the driver says there is something wrong with the train and trying to fix it. Another 15 munites and he says it's cancelled and we need to get off the train and the next train to lea green(Manchester Airport) was 2 hours so we got the next train to Wigan north western (40 MUNITES when we were parked at lea green. It only took 2 hours to get home and it shouldve been a 30 munites trip. And your being on a 323. I WAS ON A 323 BUT FROM LIVERPOOL LINE STREET AND THE TRAIN BROKE DOWN AND IT TOOK 35 MUBITES FOR THEM TO KNOW
Since you went to Southport and left there using Merseyrail And then came back using northern. You should go to London Bridge leave using southern and then come back to using southeastern

That's amazing and pretty cool!! I'm still waiting to get a chance of doing a station/train announcement.
As a Southerner, I love the class 323s. The traction noise is beautiful.

Can you come and replace the new 195/331 announcements, please? It’s very hard getting through a shift with that down your ear constantly.
Awesome. My 3yr old Nephew LOVES your videos about trains, he doesn't watch much else, his name is Austin ❤
Nick, you didn't record an announcement involving "this train is delayed", did you? 😂😂

How is this your first time on a 323? I thought you were from Manchester & would've met up with David Frankal at his house in Heald Green.
cool!
