@@LyndaDemsher Hey Lynda! Most the guys on the show have conservative values apart from Eddie who identifies as moderate. However apart from our personal views we believe open dialogue is the best way to inform others about important issues which is why we hosted Jay, who is currently trying to recall a conservative commissioner.
@@TheOregonGrape I realize if you want to make a name for yourself in So. Oregon you have to cozy up to the majority, which is very, very conservative here. You won't make money defending a liberal point of view in this place and someone might just kill your cat. However, there are some core values like decency and truth the ampliganda distorts as it bends toward the ears it's trying to attract. I was hopeful the "Grape" might have a refreshing take on local issues but after listening to a couple of pods that doesn't seem the case.
@@LyndaDemsher Well so far the show hasn’t made us any money so if the goals were financial we’re doing something wrong. Would love to hear with more detail any area you felt we failed to deliver the truth.
@@TheOregonGrape To deliver the truth you can't sympathize with one side and try to be a hard ass with the other side of an issue. You seemed to sympathize with John West while you drilled Jay Meredith. I thought your questions were very good, better than most young guy podcasters, but then you laughed and joked around and seemed to sympathize with West - who is far from the underdog in this fight. I have observed the BOS since COVID. I know these issues well and have dealt with these Commissioners in person. West, even though he never met a verb he couldn't fracture, is a very good BSer and your interviewer seemed to be falling for it. He is also easily triggered into a rage if you hold an opposing view. Have you watched Board meetings long enough to know the players and their motivations? I know it takes time, but you need a ton of background before being able to conduct a decent, non-partisan interview and not let someone shade you. These issues are complicated. You need to know the "soap opera characters" involved, the ones who show up at every meeting to protest anything another group they perceive as "liberals" wants like a safe community during COVID, a local newspaper, a Master Gardeners program, a library or Pipe Fork. Do you know that Herman Baertschiger hates the library because he thinks they are brainwashing people over there to become liberals? Have you actually talked to any OSU people to find out how they operate? At least go back and watch the meeting recordings during the OSU fight. They had their budgets available during the hearings about 4H and several OSU people were available to talk but Herman and West denigrated them. Their hatred for the "elites" at the university was palpable. Did you know Mike Pelfrey was instrumental in getting rid of Master Gardeners when he showed up at a meeting with a video on his phone showing some near naked trans person dancing at a festival at OSU? I nearly fell out of my chair trying to suppress a giggle when West and Pelfry hovered over that video on his phone. West saw me and told me from the dais to shut up. West and Pelfrey complained like a couple of church ladies that "we can't have our kids exposed to this!" West and Pelfrey never went to college and have no idea what goes on at Universities. A trans person at OSU during Pride Week has nothing to do with 4H kids' funding. Herman B and John West's excuses for their actions regarding Sheriff's funding, OSU, the library and Pipe Fork have changed over time and you need to know how. I can't explain it here, it would be an encyclopedia. Speaking of books, a library is a community enhancement like parks and playgrounds. Home Depot pays taxes on all these things and gets served by them because people like to live where there are enhancements and if they live here they spend money at places like Home Depot. Why don't you guys visit the library if you're going to talk about it? I guarantee you won't be turned into liberals but you might find some local history to read about, a good cookbook to check out or a book to help you deal with your mean little dog.
It's easy to say someone's actions are illegal. Has a court proved it?
If we're voting on names, I like The grape. Because the other sounds like TDS
This guy sounds like just another right-wing podcaster.
