I think you can only use the notes currently on the lines to freestyle, say if there is a y and x note then to freestyle you can only use those two notes or else you'll get points taken off. I noticed this when you were watching others play that they did this method so if it doesn't work idk how to help.
To the left of the chart, the two volume sliders measure how well you're doing with each line. The left slider is accuracy and the right is style. Accuracy is self-explanatory but style is basically your overall score for the line, playing perfectly doesn't give much funk so you have to freestyle to get more. Pressing buttons not used in the line still counts as a miss though.

Anyone gonna talk about how Tetto, Luka, Miku and Gakupo ended up in this game? Pretty sure they definitely mixed some VOCALOID voices to create their voices.
Hard to say if they're the actual vocaloid voices with the music playing, and my ear hasn't picked up the eggplant samurai in the last two vids(yet), but I see how the opponent in the cooking section sounds like Miku. Voices can sound similar when altered so much that way by software. Used to listen to a playlist of Gakupo songs everyday because of Gackt, and that's my only backup to my opinion lol the clown guy sounds more like MS Sam 😂

It could definitely be the V2 version of the program, where their voices are far more distorted in English. But I've heard Luka and Tetto V2 sing in English, with it run through songs without editing. It definitely sounds like them. The good news about that is, there is no copyright to use them at all. Answer a simple crew could do all this amazing work, and not have to pay anyone to sing. You can actually do all the necessary music, and even DJ music in the main mixing program that comes with their vocal program for absolutely free. I know this, because I was gifted V4 for Christmas. So it's something great for creators on a budget. And I hope that means this game will be launched fully soon.

I really love that there are different game over screens and essentially animations for anything you do differently in the game. And don't worry Bijuu Bike, even I didn't understand how the freestyling worked until I read some of the comments. I hope that gets clarified more in future updates! For anyone who doesn't understand based on what I learned, if you're freestyling a bar you can ONLY use the buttons in that bar. For example, if you have Up, B, and Y in the bar, you can ONLY use those when freestyling. You can't freestyle with R, A, Left, etc. Now I see why different RUclipsrs are messing up, because they use any button on their controller when freestyling. Tbh, I don't think I would've been able to figure that out on my own when I usually can for most games. It definitely needs clarification for anyone who hasn't played similar rhythm games to this one, like PaRappa.

Great video as always, I’m honestly really glad that you’ve considered playing the PaRappa series, they’re fantastic games. So, here’s a few words of advice for if you decide to play the PaRappa games. Play the versions on the PS4/PS5. They’re a lot easier to find than physical copies, and a lot of the weird timing in the originals are fixed. If you wanna play the original versions, though, good luck tracking down an American copy of PaRappa 1 or just about ANY copy of Um Jammer Lammy (the spin-off game). You can find Japanese copies of PaRappa 1 for relatively cheap, so I’d suggest modding your PS2 to play Japanese games. PaRappa 2 is pretty easy to find, though. Um Jammer Lammy did not sell very well at all, so copies rarely turn up, and when they do, they’re usually pretty expensive. Sorry for rambling. TL;DR: If you wanna play the PaRappa series, play the digital versions you can buy on the PS4 and PS5.
I haven’t finished the video yet, but the rules are the same as Parappa. You can freestyle, but you just stick to the notes (buttons) they give you in the current line or it counts as a miss. So you can freestyle, but within the limitations. It prevents blind button mashing, and you still have to stay on beat too. (Or off beats, but if you stray too far off of the rhythm you’ll also get a miss). Love watching you play this and I hope you play the Parappa series soon too because it’s one of my favorite rhythm game series out there! (My personal favorite is the spinoff: Um Jammer Lammy.)
It works like this: 1: You have to hit the correct key like normal 2: You can freestyle, just use the notes in the current bar( So if the bar has A B A A, then you can reply with AABB A AA, but not AXBYAAL)
Basically you can only freestyle with the notes that are SUPPOSED to be pressed For example: The opponent can sing: < > X A You can freestyle but ONLY with those exact buttons so You could sing: XXAA
That "WRR-" sound means you pressed a button that wasn't even available for that bar, like when PaRappa says "oops!," and you have to at least be somewhat accurate to the bar you're meant to repeat for the notes that aren't 'freestyling'.
You copy and support the bar when it’s pink but you can freestyle a little when it is blue, as long as you have the same notes then you can put your own notes in.

It works like this:
1: You have to hit the correct key like normal
2: You can freestyle, just use the notes in the current bar( So if the bar has A B A A, then you can reply with AABB A AA, but not AXBYAAL)

Basically you can only freestyle with the notes that are SUPPOSED to be pressed
For example: The opponent can sing: < > X A
You can freestyle but ONLY with those exact buttons
so You could sing: XXAA
The songs in this game is so amazing
That "WRR-" sound means you pressed a button that wasn't even available for that bar, like when PaRappa says "oops!," and you have to at least be somewhat accurate to the bar you're meant to repeat for the notes that aren't 'freestyling'.
I think the "flipping and frying to keep myself from dying" part is a reference to when you die in the original super Mario bros

You copy and support the bar when it’s pink but you can freestyle a little when it is blue, as long as you have the same notes then you can put your own notes in.
