Thank you so much! This is the first time I've understood how to do this. My teacher refuses to explain and says we should know how to do this. You're amazing!
Thank you for the explanation, and I'm glad you refer to everything in regards to PChem as a student who is currently in that class i must admit this is used for nearly every lab report i've done thus far.
so clutchhhh! I'm taking pchem lab, biochem lab, and a genetics lab this semester this video saved my life. I totally forgot all my excel skills after analytical chem haha
It's 4:57am. I've been doing this for hours and nobody has said the correct new keys for excel mac 2017... thank you. you just got me closer to getting some sleep
I'm really glad they don't tell us about this in P Chem lab, and instead decide to have us write out all the equations in excel to create our own version of this. Gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8
Hello, thanks for this clear explanation. But How can I find the error in the slope if I want that the trendline goes thorugh zero ? In my case I want Y=ax+b with b=0, if I use LINEST putting ([y_values]. [x_values], False, true), I get 0 in all the cells. How is it possible ? Can you kindly help me ?
After entering LINEST for the given y, x columns... I then hightlight a group of cells (2 column wide by 5 rows deep) and finally highlight the entire formula in the command bar, before pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER so that it treats returns an array of data in those cells. The problem is that the data that it shows is not exactly the same as the trendline equation shown on the scatter-chart! Why? And how would you programatically do the CTRL-SHIFT_ENTER?
0:57 Right-clicking the mouse shows up a pop-up window. But mine does not contain menu options such as "Add Data Labels", "Add Trendline", etc. Do I need to install an optional plug-ins?
THANK YOU! This is very clear and well-explained.But this is hugely awkward. Getting the Scatterplot IS a great idea BUT thie LINEST is so cryptic. Why dont you click "Data" (in the top lone) then the Data Analysis icon at the right? Then you can choose Regression which gives you a nice printout with the ANOVA table and without having to select "Ctrl+Shift+Enter" and type in SE etc? Maybe students find using "Data/Data Analysis" complicated.
To be fair, as a student, the data analysis icon was not originally added on my excel as I just right now had to look it up and add as a add-on, using your comment lol.
I did exactly as the video instructed, but I'm getting #VALUE errors on all of the additional values the LINEST equation is supposed to put out. Anyone know why? The first box produces the slope, just like it should. The #VALUE errors seem to come from the commands in the new LINEST boxes trying to pull values from random boxes without any numbers in them. I don't know how to correct this and make sure I am getting correct values. Any help?
There isn't really such a thing as the "standard deviation of the plot". There is a standard error in the slope and a standard error in the intercept, and how to find those are detailed in the video.
Question: Why the hell do the errors in the y-intercept always come up so damn high? Seems to be when the y-int is near 0. It messes up my error propagation because its almost 100 percent! And in your case it is more than 100 percent!!
hello, thanks for this video. I'm not sure if this is the best video but I need to know is how to best fit a set of measurements, for example if i measure the thickness of a table, if i take 10 points, probably two are out of the "optimal" measurement but the rest is "within" this optimal measurement then how can i change this measurement outputs for best fit and make everything within? For this example I'm trying to change the "Y" data. What i was thinking is to subtract the "slope" to every point and then redo the scatter? Thanks.
Thank you! Still helping Physics students 11 years to the date!!!
Thank you so much! This is the first time I've understood how to do this. My teacher refuses to explain and says we should know how to do this. You're amazing!
it is a sign your teacher does not really know how to use the function himself/herself (otherwise he/she would explain). Sad
Thank you so much. I learned how to do it previously, but i forgot I had to highlight the other boxes. Thanks again.
This video helped me graduate college, thank you sir.
You are amazing!!! I learned so much, ty :*, I can calmly do my regression homework now for my mba!
Finally a clear explanation on the use of LINEST
Bless you child. This was a much needed information.
Thanks for the video, it's really helped me to get an uni assessment in on time.
Thank you for the explanation, and I'm glad you refer to everything in regards to PChem as a student who is currently in that class i must admit this is used for nearly every lab report i've done thus far.
Thanks so much !!! That was great and you explained everything we might have needed to know, good job sir !! :)
bless your heart child
this is awesome, in school, i couldn't understand it, and now i do. Thank you
crystal clear explanation and very intuitive. cheers
Thank you!! This helped me out so much!
Great information, hadno idea what the Ctrl+Shift+Enter would do!!
It all makes sense now!! ... very helpful video
you are my favourite person on the internet
Wow, you just saved me so much time haha! Thankyou!
Thank you this was actually helpful!
Bro you are Pro. That's what I thank you for.
THANK YOU! This was very helpful
Thank you! This helped a lot with my assignment
7 years later... LIFE SAVER!
That's very helpful, thank you!
You're the best! Thank you!
so clutchhhh! I'm taking pchem lab, biochem lab, and a genetics lab this semester this video saved my life. I totally forgot all my excel skills after analytical chem haha
im currently going through the motions with analytical chem LOL
Thank you! It was surely quite of help.
Still useful after 8 years ❤️🌹
Thank you so much it was a quick and easy way :D
for excel 2017, you have to hold down shift+control then press enter
It's 4:57am. I've been doing this for hours and nobody has said the correct new keys for excel mac 2017... thank you. you just got me closer to getting some sleep
No problem :) struggling student myself and I thought someone would run into the same problem as me
Careful, he's a hero
i love u
God bless you!
Thank you I really needed this clear explanation
Thank you, Jared! :)

You da real mvp
thanks! this is so helpful!
Thank you! Excellent!
GREAT EXPLANATION!!
Awesome, thank you so much!
Thanks a ton, my book was doing a horrible job of explaining this. (in my opinion)
In openoffice, instead of highlighting then pressing control-shift-enter, you have to press control-shift-enter from the formula bar.
You, I love you, it wasnt working and this solved it, you my friend are now my lover
VERY HELPFUL!!!!!
매우 유용한 정보 감사합니다!
Great GREAT video
非常不错!赞一个👍
Great video!
how to calculate the t stat?
you deserve a place in heaven, my child
so helpful, thanks!
Excellent! Thanks!
how do i calculate the rolling r^2 in excel 2010 please.
Simple and Great!!
Just a note, in excel 2016 the command to show all statistics is cmd shift enter not cmd enter. Otherwise good vid.
Good explanation. Thanx
excellent video
Still useful after 10 years ^^
You are a god!
Genius Thank you!

don't use false, just skip
Thank you for your help :)

Check whether you've select the same number of data values. It's easy to miss a row.
I very Confused because my physics task, but this video very help me
Thank you!
what do you mean by "air of the slope"?? and how do you do this with a semi logarithmic graph?
My slope that shows up on my graph is different than the slope i got with my regression line. Do you know what I did wrong or why this might be?
did you find a solution? I have the same problem
YOUR AMAZINGGGGG
0:57 Right-clicking the mouse shows up a pop-up window. But mine does not contain menu options such as "Add Data Labels", "Add Trendline", etc. Do I need to install an optional plug-ins?
well done!! thanks
Lowkey youtube mvp
thank you!!!!
what do you mean when you say "Command" as the key stroke?
WOW DUDE THANK YOU
Still a great tutorial!
Godlike Voice
thank you so much
Very very nice

+Emily Darcy Do Ctrl+ shift+ Enter for it to work.
+ayoola obi THANK YOU!!
+ayoola obi Thank you!!!! I had the same problem using EXCEL 2015 for Mac.
just saved my assigment dude
Thanks!
thanks a lot

+Joanne Tee Standard Deviation and Standard Error are the same thing, I think.
thanks dude
thank You
Thank you
Thanks! :)
nicely done
thanks!
NICE
Very helpful!!!thanks!!!!
This is really cool. Thank You.
grande bro
You saved me
How do i calculate the t-interval procedure and the confidence interval?
ruclips.net/video/wLxx_IoeQHo/видео.html
For an older version of Excel, but basic idea will still work.
