Can we get a Lonzo Ball video? Bulls fans would love to have some insight into how you go from 6 to 8 week initial recovery in January to a second surgery in September.
Thanks Brian for Educating and teaching me something new makes me appreciate all the hard work my ribcage does now lol
Flail chest is NO JOKE!!! We see it all the time in veterinary medicine when small dogs are attacked by a coyote (or other larger animal).
These poor kids do well sometimes but it's far from a given. It looks SO painful to see an animal with a chunk of it's ribcage puffing in and out when they inhale/exhale.
I hope his pain isn't too bad and Herbert recovers well. ✌🏾
Doc, I'm sure you've seen it, but Robocop's cut from UFC Sandhagen vs Song is ridiculous. Also, how well the medical staff did to stitch it up for him to be at the press conference!
Exactly to both. Fact. Good comment
Your explanatory system is brilliant! Thank you Doctor Brian 🌞
Would you do a video explaining Jameis Winston's back injury? I would like to know how impactful it is for an athlete and especially a position at QB that deals a lot with throwing and getting sacked.
Just look at Romo, his last year he got a lot of shots to help with pain and stiffness in his back.
Is it a back injury or a "back injury"? Miami kinda blurred the lines a bit on that one.
Great job Doc! Thank you very much! Be ready to try surgery tomorrow.
Excellent video, Doc. Your explanations of the various injuries are always educational and interesting. Will be watching young Herbert to see how he progresses this week and in the game on Sunday. Thanks again. Keep up the great work.
Thanks Doc! Youre the best!
I've had that happened to me in boxing sparring from a left body shot, took a couple months to full heal
PLEASE do the Sterling Shepard injury last night. It was so weird. I’m a med student trying to be an orthopedic surgeon and I can’t figure out how it happened…
Can you do a video on J.Winston playing though his spine fractures
Glad I found this channel. 💯 I just started covering the NFL. New to content creating but I’m going hard!
And Herbert is a 6’6”, 240 lb youngster. 😳. I broke one rib in my late teens and I remember how painful breathing was…never mind coughing or sneezing…or playing QB in the NFL.
High pain tolerance, for me getting burned hurts way more than breaking my ankle.
that’s because burns are one of the worse types of injuries .
Road to 1 mill🎉🎉🎉 Appreciate the content Doc. Keep it up!!!
I hope you talk about Tua's "back" injury that looked like a concussion. Big story.
Nice video, part why when I hurt my ribs about 2009 area I choose to just not have the shots. The might hit the lung, freaked me out.
Excellent vid as always. Could we get an explanation on Philly Flyers dman Ryan Ellis tearing his Psoas Muscle and why it’s being looked at as a career ender? Thank you.
It's located in the lumbar region which if he can't treat it with physical therapy then he'll have to rely on drugs to help keep the muscle loose.
Hey Brian love your videos. Can you do one on Tua's injury on what looked like a concussion but came back in a few minutes later?
He did a couple videos on the Tua incident
@@pat3464 Haha yeah little did I know at the time how much that would blow up
@@grandaddy0807 yea I didn't realize this video came out before the Tua ones lol I should really start looking at post dates before commenting lol
Watching this I think in highschool I had this my trainer was just not qualified to diagnose it
Are you planning a video for Sterling Shepard's injury last night? Even as a non-contact injury it did not look like he should have gotten hurt as bad as he did
Can you do a video on Jameis Winston’s possible back fractures
I think it could be less severe then people think
Maybe the small thin sections pointing backward are fractured not the main bone section that protects the spine
If I understand you correctly and am reading the first page of that paper correctly, the 2001 study doesn't distinguish between the procedures done with imaging assistance and the procedures done without that assistance. Am I seeing that correctly? Do you know whether any studies suggest that the probability of PTX is lower when the procedure is done with imaging versus without imaging? If I were an owner, I'd want to see the results of that study and would want to talk to my team doctors about those results before they stick needles into my patients.
Can you do something on the Texas tech player leg injury against nc state.
please do sterling shepard's non-contact injury
i have a question regarding cartilage tears, i tore the cartilage in my wrist , broke my wrist and forearm when playing basketball when i was younger although i spent significant time within a cast (two separate casts a year out as they didn't find the tear within the cartilage a year later) I have been told that cartilage does not repair and have been with loss of mobility and discomfort for the past 7-8 years any advice for day to day management? i have very much discussed this issue with my doctors and the information you provided within this video counteracts what i have been told throughout my life. great work and explanation of the information provided in this video
cartilage usually doesn’t repair itself , a lot of time in this channel has been spent on knee injuries and stuff such as the miniscious has to be repaired if it’s torn . i’m not a dr but cartilage tears are one of my worst fears .
Doc, could you do a video on the injury/condition that Mike Tyson revealed he has this week? Thanks!
Does costal cartilage classify as hyaline cartilage or is it different in some way?
I’ve had this injury and it’s painful. Make no mistake Herbert is going to have a hard time sleeping and I doubt his ability to play as good as he has. I think the chargers are not telling us everything.
I slipped and fell on my right side on the quarter inch thick glass coffee table corner in the dark at night. In the morning, I couldn’t even raise my right arm getting dressed for work. I looked in the mirror and it was purple and blue. Sneezing and coughing was painful at first and I found out the number of muscles in play during those time.
Well Herbert has access to get better treatment than regular people like us
@@ernestogastelum9123 You'd think so, but then again there's the lawsuit.
the lawsuit might have no merits, idk about the specifics any more than anyone else not involved in it, but just because you can sue doesn’t mean you will win or have merits ( ie your case isn’t a frivolous lawsuit)
I'd definitely like to get your opinion of Tua's back injury that could actually be a head injury.
Sterling Shepherd’s injury please!
The NFL and Dr Sutterer have made me a genius on the human body.
@@YesYesYesJeff like what?
sometimes since Dr Brian is speculating without all the info /test results , but he updates and admits he is wrong. it happens lol
May I ask a question of you please, Doc? I don’t know if you answer any questions here, and it doesn’t pertain to the subject discussed here, so apologies for going off on a tangential issue, but here goes… I suffered a displaced tibial plateau fracture (Schatzker 6), no surgery was possible since my bones were shattered and no pins/plates/screws could be affixed due to the position of the bones. Would it be possible for you to give an estimate on how long it’ll take for a full recovery? It’s been 6 months and I’m still not walking as I was previously. If you could provide me any assistance, or an estimation as to when I may walk properly and/or make a full recovery it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Get a rascal. Have you seen the new ones? You'll never have to walk again!!!
@@InchFab
I’d prefer to, erm, walk. I don’t want a ‘gimp mobile’ as Hank Schrader might say. I don’t know if this doctor can give advice? You been here before or just trolling people with legitimate concerns?
Is there any research on the risk of pneumothorax when using ultrasound vs blind?
doubt there is much difference
Can you do one Sterling Shepard?
Doc I have him in fantasy but I also have tua on the bench, I don’t want to give up but should I keep Herbert in or put tua against buffalos defense
Put him in since they won today lol
You don't miss!
Please do sterling Sheppard knee
Would love to see a video of Anthony Walker’s quad tendon tear from last night
hmm I don’t think he’s covered one of those before on this channel
I got injured at work dislodge knee cap, strain acl, strain mcl. Doctor didn’t diagnose the hoffa fat pad. Do i have a case to sue too?
maybe , just maybe you should consult a lawyer .
Sterling Shepherd's injury next
I had a spontaneous pneumothorax when I was in my 20's and although it was very uncomfortable initially as soon as I got a chest tube it was ok. Tube stayed for 48 hours, lung reexpanded and I went on my merry way. Certainly not millions of dollars in damages.
There are a lot of people that are extremely afraid of needles and even though you warn them when they are about to get stuck they jump. This could easily result in a collapsed lung
Professional sports players tend to be a little crazy when they are getting any medical procedures.
haha i heard a story about a baseball player and an mri , involving … him being sedated . however when it comes to needles i don’t like them either , but i don’t move lol . when i had surgeries as a kid the nurses would do a blood test by ramming an exacto knife like blade into my fingers which was way worse than any neeedles
I think with Tyrod Taylor the issue is that the injection causing lung collapse is what ended his career. He was hired to be the starting QB then the lung thing happened and Herbert, backup QB, took over. The team decided they liked the new kid better and Tyrod didn't play again. I'm guessing his suit has to do with lost wages and opportunities, when he was benched bc of the lung.
Oh the suckiness of rib pain! Especially if you don't have tons of access for treatment like a professional athlete.
Can you make a video explaining Canelos hand injury …
Do you think the rib protector actually saved him from worse damage or played a role in his injury?? In the sense of how it happened, by landing on a helmet thru his back
That's exactly why qbs wear the flak jacket. It helped a lot.
i’d guess it might have helped protect his ribs and spleen from worse injury
Tua!
Can you do sterling sheperd
Could you explain Marco Reus injury and whether he can play the world cup.
Poor guy is prone to injuries
What’s the statute of limitations for a lawsuit against the doc? Hope he’s compensated.
Shocked to learn that doc is still treating Chargers players. I thought Herbert may’ve had organ damage too. Scary!!! Intercostal cartilage pain is horrible and lingering and I’m concerned Herbie will sustain other injuries as a result of this. He should be sat.
If you've ever had a rib injury you know it does not feel great. Basically impossible to do anything
Opinion on Tua’s back/head injury!!!!
Doc , where is Mac Jones injury !?
Yesss there better be a video on that one
I been following Tyrod since Buffalo days man it sucks ab that rib injury for real :/
If the risk of the procedure is based on "not being able to see"...why not eliminate that risk and use an ultrasound?
I get injections in my ankles and as a civilian the doctor is using an untra sound, it takes like 2minutes longer to set up and I'm not a multi million dollar athlete.
I agree, but some people either aren’t trained with ultrasound or don’t have one when needed
His doctor f@&ked up 🙈
Why are you not talking about Mac Jones injury
I rlly hope he does
I think a video on ja morants longer arm would be cool
As an Athletic Trainer, I love these videos! Love the set up.
And it was Herbert who got the start in place of Taylor lol
Can you make a video about Lonzo Ball please?
So Herbert has a chance to come back December week 10
herbert is probably playing this week lol
You have a hollow head
haha he’s likely playing this week 🤣
8.7% is way higher then expected. Wow
that’s not exactly as high as other things 🤣
👍🏾
Are you saying you have knowledge of the Chargers medical staff still having this physician on their team? And that he wasn’t fired?
It’s public knowledge. You can Google it
if Drs were fired for doing risky optional procedures then I doubt that any would be left. I’ve had a bunch of surgeries and trust me when i saw that the consent consultation is a real think and having any kind of procedure has risks .
@@peterf.229 ok well he’s getting sued lol so it’s not a small deal like how you’re trying to make it sound
Allen Lazard Threw Up
Hold on... We KEPT this guy around after the Tyrod incident for this long? Speaks to a larger systemic issue.
Why has Lonzo Balls injury been so finicky?
If you were Herbert and you knew ur team doc is getting sued by a former qb about a similar injury would you request to have another doctor look at that injury or what would you do?
Herbert 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
He'll be fine. Stop crying.
it took tyrod long enough.
I never understood why tyrod didn't sue over that right away especially since I'm a Bills fan I thought he deserves his chance and they just took it from him... I know he's not as good as her butt but he deserved that chance he'll never get that back
I clicked as fast as I could to figure out if I should sit him this week 😅
Same dude haha
As a Chargers and Herbert fan, can we make sure the team physician uses an ultrasound??
No.
pain tolerance is different for everyone . wonder if he had a pain shot already 🤣
speaking of informed consent..
lonzo please
Tyrod Punctured lung Taylor
I hope tyrod loses. Great backup qb, he's been around forever, but don't come after the people trying to help you. That's like yelling at the people making your food
first?
I was shocked to hear that doctor was still with the team. How to you puncture a players lung and keep your job. FU spanos!
Well according to other doctors that can happen from time to time
well , I’d hope you never go to a hospital or ever get injured or need a surgery .
