  • Kwame Rose is a social activist, and artist. Kwame was originally known for having boldly held mainstream media, particularly Geraldo Rivera of Fox News, accountable for the inaccurate representation of protesters during the Baltimore Uprising. Since then Kwame has written for Mashable, USA Today, and HuffPost about policing and politics from the Black millennial perspective. He shares his personal insight on how we can all move towards positive change in society in a post Freddie Gray world. Having lived only 5 minutes away from Freddie Gray, Kwame Rose was in the thick of a heated time. He had two highly educated parents and mentors in his life that encouraged him to dream as far as he wanted. After the death of Freddie Gray, Kwame spoke out to a reporter and became viral overnight.
Since then, Kwame has been a crucial player in the Black Lives Matter movement and has been featured in the HBO documentary “Baltimore Rising.” This social activist dedicates his life to bettering the lives of youth in Baltimore because he strongly believes that true change starts with them. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
