4:40 Those words sound very different to me, despite it's probably the fact coming from a language without pitch accent, though we have patterns that get hic-uppy and absolutely funny compared to the standard form. Southern Appalachian specifically where our phonology is wonkier than the norm. We can sound fairly similar, more vowel distinction as stress is very much different on a lot of the words. At least always compounds, words with vowel + N or M become unintentionally nasally or drop with a longer vowel along side some intonation change.
Tomten- han som är döpt efter platsen hans hus står på 😁😁
TACK SÅ MYCKET! I can finally understand it!
That was good!! tack så mycket :) Question - could one say "stegen på stegen"? (it just amused me to think about it :p)
No, stegen are the steps you take with your feet. But if you mean that you, e.g., hear steps on the ladder, then yeah. Only stressed words have a pitch accent in a sentence though.
Thank you for this video. I hope you can explain me why in swedish say... "Vem som komma" my teacher said som means like will... I don't find more info about it
Could you give me more context please?
@@sayitinswedish yes it was an exercise at school.... Du är välkommen på kalas hos Alice.... Ring oss på 012345... Så vi vet hur många som komma.
2. Vad måste personen som får meddelande göra?
When i used Google translate both as Will, WHO Will come and what Will do (question)
@Jm Cresencio you are so sweet to share all this with me, i talked to my teacher today and she explained me the som... As you did but she didn't mention as will and so on. I will definitely get that book you recommended.
I appreciate much this post !
@Jm Cresencio i found the book !
Ok
In songs, does accent 2 disappear altogether?
Yeah of course, you cannot sing notes and have other tones at the same time! Emphasis on the is important though.
It's funny that I thought pitch accent was unique to Japanese 🤣
Vad händer när ett ord som har accent2 är oberonat i en mening? Typ “många” som inte är betonat i vanliga fall
Då får ordet ingen ordaccent.
The duck/spirit example has always annoyed me because unless you explain the actual noun it seems more complicated than it really is.
Duck = 'and'. Spirit ='ande'.
Being a two syllable noun 'ande' has pitch 2 (like 'pojke')
When you add the indefinite article this doesn't not affect the pitch.
SO -
THE DUCK = is AND +en. So single syllable noun AND is pitch 1 and -en doesn't change this.
THE SPIRIT = is ANDE+n. Two syllable noun ANDE is pitch 2 and -n doesn't change this.
So they are not identical nouns separated only by pitch. They are different nouns which look the same only when you add the definite article.
True, I agree with you there, but it's also about how they look and the look the same. Most of the examples have different declination, like stegen and stegen.
Cái này không Trắng . Trắng rồi thì học Tiếng TC
I actually think English has both pitches already. Consider the sentence “You’re a real winner” said normally is pitch one, winner is up down. Now imagine the sentence with great enthusiasm. “You’re a real winner!” Or “You’re the best friend ever!” The winner and ever can be Swedish style up down up.
I wish I could send you an audio clip now but neither winner or ever has the second accent with two ups. It will make you sound very Scandinavian.
You are speaking about tone, which exists in probably all languages.
Thats tones
