JFC, I think I'm just watching a tossed off vid about a hacksaw handle, but then end up getting my mind blown by the dowel in the masonry. That would have saved me a ton of frustration in the past. Thanks for this!!
Haha, that trick IS a game-changer. I try to throw that one in videos all the time. Here's a quick version of it: ruclips.net/video/Nx3xEKW77-I/видео.html
I saw the thumbnail and headed right for the bench. To date I have, copper chain, a golf ball/PVC door latch, a thin plastic circle, cut off gallon paint buckets, and a hacksaw blade flush cut handle. Thanks Pocket
I absolutely adore your content. The maker/tinkering vibe, the repurposing of materials, out of the box thinking, homeowner spin. All the way to more “vlog” videos with a more philosophical approach. Actually have been re-bingeing your older content again.
This project is honestly worthy of being a video on the channel instead of being unlisted and only findable through hyperlinks. But I'm glade I found it nonetheless, probably make one for myself when I get around to it.
Years ago, I bought a Lenox brand hacksaw for work after breaking a Kleine.that Lenox saw came with a couple of different blades and a handle made for mounting a blade into. As an electrician, I found so many uses for it that it always had a blade in it and it always had a place in my bag. Many times I had to use it for cutting nails on the boxes inside a wall. Sometimes it was cutting a giant piece of wire that was in too tight to get with normal cutters. It isn't the fastest way to cut anything, but sometimes fast is the last thing on your mind.
A hacksaw handle came as part of a tool box I was given. Super handy tool. It's just a bit of plastic a bolt and a wing nut but it grips a standard hacksaw blade perfectly and it's adjustable for stick out which can be very useful. I also have a spring loaded version with a guide, that's even better for some jobs but it's bulkier so isn't always as handy.
I improvised one only be having your idea in memory, I still have to bend the holding nail, round the edges of the handle and other small adjustments (I needed one quickly so I didn't bother making it more ergonomic), otherwise it's very VERY useful for cutting square holes into gypsum boards that are already installed, with a regular hacksaw it's just impossible to do. Thanks ! Were you laughing while using the vice ?
Another great DIY pumpkin-carving tool is an empty plastic chew/jerky can. It'll work so well for scraping the insides clean that you'll wonder how you ever did it otherwise.
On mobile the upload date shows today (July 22 2022). In case anyone is curious how there are comments from before that, it was an unlisted video that was linked to in another video.
Thank you for this! I think I'll try making one, but might cut the hack saw blade in 1/2. That way I'll get 2 blades from 1 and it'll be more compact (with less bending).
Dremel will work, but these can also be snapped in half. Be careful. It's super-hard metal. Watch your eyes. Gloves advised. Fold blade in half, then tap the fold flat with a hammer against metal.
Great idea, great video, but…I don’t have a band/table saw, nor a hacksaw to make the slot or trim nails. 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks anyway, will subscribe for other videos.
Wahhh. Did you not listen to the first ten seconds? Thing has been useful to me for years. Every single time I make a cedar plug in masonry, it pays for itself.

@@pocket83squared A minute long video that isn't tagged as a #shorts? What is this?

Same! My workbench wouldn't be as useful as it is without Pocket

I love how simple and effective it is

Thanks. Eventually I'll make it public.
@@pocket83squared And here we are!
@@Laborejo I knew this seemed familiar. Watched anyway.
There were hyperlinks? aww... I'm not good at this

PLEASE come back for good Pocket your vids are one of the few good things I look forward to!

I am going to make myself one of these. The hacksaw blade wrapped on one end with duct tape now makes me feel slovenly. Also, that dog is very cute.
This is an improvement on my technique of wrapping a rag around the blade.
That's honestly a pretty solid solution.

Nice idea. They at least used to exist commercially- i have an eclipse hacksaw pad handle passed onto me from my dad.
Most of the time this would be more efficient than a standard hack saw
I made a handle for a t shank jigsaw blade a while back in a similar way. Great for pumpkin carving

I dig it. I'm a wood turner so obviously I have to turn mine on a lathe.

Simple elegant design. Thanks for sharing
I currently have an old hacksaw blade in my toolbox with a duct tape handle, ha! This is much better. Thanks!
Clever, neat and USEFUL! THANKS!

@@pocket83squared except one blade would be a push stroke configuration?
I have something similar, I think it was called a pad-saw? It's definitely a tool I don't use open, but I'm glad to have it when the need arises.
v1 lasted 10 years? v1.5 has a LOT to live up to!

Would a hack saw blade be ruined in an oven at 400°?
Pocket may know where I'm going with this.. Oh wait! I have a better idea!
If I were in prison, this would be the shiv I'd make :P
I just rab a rag around the blade
Better use cloth

Clever hack. So shrewd.
Maybe you should make a video about it, ace.
