  • Story with Intel CPU issues has revealed quite fast and now there is also a resolution. Like it or not, but if you have one of the affected CPUs, and you had these symptoms of issues. Then nothing can help you.
However all new CPUs purchased will be already patched.

Ring bus is believed to be the main problem, microcode update will only delay the degradation not stop it. So even if your not experiencing the problem right now you will eventually. Also intel just made a statement in the last 24h that all 13th, 14th gen CPU’s drawing more then 65w are effected.

@@s3rm0n56 if you believe intel is being 100% honest in its statement when it didn’t let ANYONE including its own partners know about its oxidisation issues last year, it let nvidia originally take the blame for its cpus crashing until nvidia made a statement, then it let the mobo manufacturers take the blame for there bios settings(even tho its intel’s responsibility to set guidelines) and it ONLY made this statement after being pressured by game developers and distributors making it know via leaking to the media…. I chose Intel when AMD4 were exploding on the motherboards (remember?), buying a much cheaper i5 13600k on a Z690itx and DDR4.
I had to change the MB, which kicked the bucket 2 weeks ago, just before the intell crap hit the fan.
Now I'm stuck with a B760itx, new DDR5 (intel attuned), and my old 13600k that, so far, performs remarkably well.
What I can attests, between the old Z690 and the new B760 (RoG), is how insane the settings of the new one were out of the box, compared to the intended setting for an intel processor. I had to tweak and try the Bios for 3 days before obtaining decent temperatures and a processor not constantly thermal throttling (despite a quite beefy watercooler!).
I assume most people who never check their PC stats have been unknowlingly feeding insane voltages to their PC, and this brought to the very high rate of failures in recent times. Not everyone is (or has to be) a technician to run a PC.
All I can do now is wait for the new microcode to release and upgrade the Bios of my motherboard that I haven't updated yet, as I finally managed to put everything stable and comfortable.
I would be curious to hear about CPU failure rate between Z690 and Z790 MB on average to see how responsible the MB manufacturers are about CPU degradation.

That was problem with overshooting mostly vsoc/vcore voltage, its 50/50 problem by motherboard (not by all motherboard venders but some) and by amd themseles, with asus rog motherboards there was problem where someone at asus, you enable expo and vsoc voltage shot up to 1.35v instead of 1.25v and also rog motherboards not reporting right vddio voltage that resulted in bsods and crashes. But that was pretty much when platform was brand new and when they switched to DDR5, Asus even had completely wrong names of AMD cpus in bios. After that there was bios rollouts that fixed all the shit and those cpus that die (and there was not alot of them) were replaced by AMD (with or without expo). And after this fiasco, Asus went into chaos mode and literally ruined their reputation together with warraty problems and etc.. (I mean they were always overpriced but people do have money so...).

My biggest question is will the microcode update in august fix the degradation issue or will it just blunt it? I'm looking to upgrade my old workhorse from 2015 which uses a 4790k during the end of this year. I was seriously looking at the i7 14700KF as my replacement until this bomb shell happened. If the micro code fixes the degradation problem completely and stop the bsod and crashes I might still go with 14700KF because i really want that 20 cores since I do solid-works simulation a lot besides gaming. But if it just blunts the problem and the raptor lake is still just perpetually degrades I think I will just get the Ryzen 7900x3d. Sucks that it's only 12 cores but at least it's stable.

have always bought intel cpus - last one was 9th gen i9, also have a 7th gen i9 - never had any issues - i like the i9's with inbuilt gpu's for playing with cuda
but now looking to get a new top-end pc and having heard of what Intel have done and not done when it comes to 13th and 14th gen, i really do not know if i can trust them on the 15th gen - amd is far from perfect, but thats nothing to what intel have done
i was waiting for the 5090's to come out along with the 15th gen, but now will wait to see what the new amd 9950x3d can do - from all reports the 9950x3d is a beast and has MT with almost no cost to performance (around 2% to overall system performance and a little more wattage) - form reports it seems to be in the same ball-park as the current 14th gen intel cpu's
its a shame intel have been so poor at taking ownership of these issues - would have had more respect if they had come clean much, much sooner and come up with a plan to response positively - its just too much of a risk to spend so much money on a new 15th gen and then have it fail a few years later
i do not think intel realises the damage they have done to their brand and reputation
my 7th gen (128GB ram + 2 * 1080Ti) and 9th gen (64GB ram + 2080Ti) i9's are still running fine - can i still expect that with the new top-end 15th gen?? i know the new 15th gen will come with more features (NPU, *) but will it last as long as my other computers - which i do hammer for both work and gaming

It's sad to see how intel F this time. I think I'll go with AMD next year. The downside of AMD is the bugs with bios and ram issues and usually random bugs with windows. Is what I experienced with my 3950x till It got stable after about half a year or a bit more. So, having to deal with those things on AMD. Call it a day. And best thing is your mobo will support their lates cpus until at least 2027 so if you want to upgrade in the future you don’t have to change anything. And yes better then a 12th gen intel equivalent.

This garbage has been going on since Pentium 4 and GeForce FX. People just want to buy name brand regardless if that choice is intelligent, and now that is having consequences with bad chips and lack of vram. Not my problem, but this is no longer funny. PCMR also started as a joke, then people took it serious like they are some master race with all the behavior associated with that. At this point, I think the sane people need to stop being silent and tell the fanboys their toxic behavior is hurting the entire ecosystem, not just themselves. I think AMD makes fine products, but the AMD fanboys also covered for AMD not releasing BIOS updates for Zen3 x300 am4 and lying about it even after AMD back-pedaled. Then AMD sold x570 with sleeve bearing chipset fans, and had USB issues. Seriously, everyone needs to stop covering for this nonsense. Lisa Su even made a statement thanking fanboys for covering it up, generally speaking. Plus there was the whole massively price gouged motherboard prices, then motherboards removed SATA ports and PCIe slots as well. My old x370 had more functionality than any modern board, and now ASRock makes the best price/$ hardware, while Asus makes overpriced defective garbage. How did Asus get there? Customers let them. Customers let all of this happen because they buy on name recognition over quality and pretend they made a smart decision. No, you are supposed to read reviews before buying, and there is no trophy for buying a brand name outside of a dunce cap. Everyone blindly buying a name brand is an idiot, moreso if the price is gouged. It's not a flex, nobody should be flexing any purchase of overpriced garbage, that's cringe stupidity flexing, and the companies screw you because they know and you deserve it. Stop being a sucker, and companies will stop treating you like a sucker.

@@balajisharathkumar9753 AMD had this similar issue before, the only difference is they recalled. They care. Everything tech has a tendency to have issue the only thing that will make difference is how these companies take care about their customer. BRUH! If you know, you know.
And just to add i9 14th gen was so notorious for its heating issue. Just so you know!
