Besides doing a first class job the customer service you pair give is brilliant. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard you say it’s nothing to do with us but we might as well do it while we’re here. Well done lads and there’s not many around like you.
Another lintel job well done and you only needed Stone Age tools wow dropped by loads ! Top lintel installation and getting the insulation in and facia looks bang on and as usual going the extra mile for the pointing and replacing blown bricks ! Awesome work Steve and Alex 👏
Beautiful job lads. The customer will be well chuffed with that. And of course you went the extra mile for them with the patched up bricks. I can imagine them throwing a garden party this summer so they can show off their new Steve and Alex brickwork to their friends.
Great video, thanks. I have a question. Shouldn’t you let the mortar set before removing the acrows? Then fill in the gaps after. Or did you feel wasn’t much weight in the pike so ok? Thanks
Sorry I am late we are on holiday and I just found another use for the wife’s iPad , another great job you must be proud especially saving the customer years of misery when that water gets in
Hi guys on jobs like this we pistol the lintels into the bricks on either side. This stops the gap above window. You can then rewall the header bricks and make good. Not saying what you are doing is wrong and good job as always but you are changing the house features and ending up with the weird plastic filler. We lift the tray onto the top of the header bricks.
@@anthonykinrade8642 it means you cut the lintel into the brick so it is level with the window leaving the brick face on. It's a common building practice that's been used for many years. I was taught it in college 37 years ago. It's mainly used in stone work but works just as well in brick.
Greetings Steve and Al! I see you remembered the power tools this trip!!! :o) And then, you didn't need them! Oh well...such is life. Really nice job guys! IF you could find someone to do brickwork (you can't), it's really pricey here in Texas.

Awesome work there boys! These jobs are becoming your bread and butter 💪👌 How are those rip saws though new build compo? Or is it only good for old lime and mortar? keep at it brothers 🤜🤛
They love it Izzy . The new stuff ( ready mix and silo ) are lime based I think so nice and soft . 4 to 1 good old sand and cement is ok but a bit of a push . 😉🧱👍🏽
You appeared to be spraying water on parts of the trim before you applied the silicon. I often use water on silicon after I have applied it merely to stop it sticking to my fingers and help smooth it out. Does applying water beforehand not stop it adhering?
What I used o do is- If I had enough rubble dust piles from the job. I would pour it on top of this to soak it up. Then as it gets cleaner with hose it's harmless.. Good job lads
Most important tool I saw on you're video was definitely the radio! No radio, no work for me guys! If I was to go on sites with no radio rules, defo stick ur job up you're cavity!! 40 yrs time served Brickie (City & Guilds), Not mickey Mouse quals matey
Did a remodeling job for a client who worked for a major sealant company, Said all the caulking lines are basically the same families just different packaging.
Couple of years ago had a bathroom fitted. My plumber said pick up a good sealant. I asked him what’s that then. He said anything that costs over £5 a tube. Haha. Wonder what his threshold is now.
What is the 'fixation' with cavity trays everywhere nowadays .... and all those weep-holes ? In over 45 years of laying , I ain't ever seen one drop of moisture oozing out of one .
I'm not saying they are great but I doubt you will see them releasing water ever. It would but be a drip here and there, weeping. You would need some sort of terrible leak for them to be putting water out. I work around some large accomodation blocks and on one building a weep hole has a large stain under it and clearly has a leaking window above.
@@johnbowkett80 fair enough but on that logic why put a tray in at all? The weep is just a path out for any water on the tray instead of any water just sitting on the mortar bed at the tray. Seems logical to me to offer a path out if a tray is installed.
Yet another great little job there S and A, Our windows with eventually need replacing, the solders hang down about 10mm from the two support bricks each end, is there any way you can retain the solders where putting in a new lintel ???
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Oky doky, could i trim down the solders 10mm or see if metric bricks fit better, put in the new lintel in, sitting on the brick either side, then fill in with trim like you have in the video ???. just to keep the look of solders,
I’ll see this problem all too often with the companies come in and sell the windows a run knowing that there is no lintel above and hold brickwork it’s been going on for well over 20 years now salesman trying to take customers money
have you ever tried to calculate how many bricks you have used in your career? I am always amazed at how almost all construction in England is brick, very few homes use brick here in the states. I always figured it had to do with using what materials are readily available, back in the day when everything was transported by ship, lumber was at a premium and in England I would think ship building got first dibs on lumber
